Yep looks like a tip stall. I don't know what they are for sure... i.e. I just found out about them today but based on logic i.e. low airspeed and tight turning angle with really pointy wings means that the inner wing is basically stationary hence not generating any lift. (spin a bucket in cirlces and then see what the speeds are at different distances away from the centre i.e. your shoulder) @ your shoulder the speed of rotation is very low. These planes were notorious for their tip stalls.

I'll have to ask Jack where he got it from. I do know it's not an ARF. It's a built up kit. He may have built it from plans.
