just watched justin lee collins doing his convention crasher show and he used this tune ...just had to hear it again and let the childhood memories flood back awesome ..thanks for posting peace
This song will always hold a special place in my heart and mind. It reminds me of when me and my two brothers and a friend just came home from a house party about 3am and as we were winding down just listening to the radio this song came on for the first time and it stuck with me ever since. Great times and memories. Im so happy I was living the best years of my young life during this era in music to enjoy the radio stations, soul train and all the bbq's during the summer in the park.
hi yeah i like imagination, i have their best of album. illusion and flashback have a few simular qualities. but yeah i really like them. tnaks for sharing
One of the best british black groups of the 80s, alongside Junior, Loose Ends, Princess. I remember attending a club in the 80s and this track was always gurantee to get people on the dance floor. Lee John(forgive me if I get his name wrong) was a charismatic figure with the costumes he wore in the videos.
Man oh man you've brought all the memories flooding back from that particular period of time.
Wisenatts i wanted to give u a thumbs up... but Y!A got their DAMN format mess'd up with the thumbs down 1st!!! fix that shit!!! there's not even an option to recant your vote?! u know how many thumbs down i gave in place of the up's?!!!!! Fix it YAHOO!
Great song! I remember my older brother had the 12 inch single back in the day! Wore it out on the record player. I'll always love and remember the 80s!
Gotta get the right version - which is this is... Nice post - great song. this is the one you threw on after you cleared the floor and wanted to build the tempo up again --- this one ALWAYS gets em out on the floor... Turn the lites down low...
this where that lloyd and lil wayne song came from believe it or not "i jus wanna chill" you kno the one listen to the verse youll notice around 0:55-1:49
I was in Kindergarten back when this came out. Damn my pops would pick me up and I wished the song would come on all the time this and The Message made 1982 a good year for music.
I've been looking for this song for so long. I remember it from when I was young...I could only remember the word Illusion. This is the best stuff ever....we only get crap music these days. Keep the music coming...you voodoo guru.
EVEN AT THE AGE OF 28, I RESPECT THIS R&B MUSIC. I HEARD THIS AT A SKATING RINK AND THE PEOPLE TOOK OFF ON THIS TRACK. Now crappy R&B shit IS ALL THEY PLAY.......
lovein this group .................so 8os so................many memories ..im 25 and i remeber my dad n grandad playin these when i was 2 my earlist memorys xxxx
oh snap Gothams east and west, garage, Loft thats where I grew up Only 14 at the time but what a time to grow up. I live in L.A. Now and soon to open Loft music night at my bar on olympic and figueroa. Playing the music of Levan and Raul and all my favorite dj's from hometown Manhattan. All invited when in town. Forever in da mind.
Ofcourse this is when films where films. Useing your imagination. The equitment used in this film, was state of the art, at its time. The fake blood, the gagits he used in the film, was reality. Today, computers have made it easier, yet theres not many people needed to make an illution these days. This ofcourse means less jobs and more unemployment.
used to be a child when listening to the song, it set me every time in a kind of trance..and I sang together without thinking about it. The same happens now. I think I like his voice very much..
Great post, matthewb2007! Thanks. Mariah Carey sampled this joint from Summer 1982 on "Get Your Number," one of my favorites on THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI. Hard to believe "Just an Illusion" only reached #27 on the Billboard R&B singles chart and bubbled under at #102 on the pop chart in 1982. It should've been a monster hit. But it's nice to know it hasn't been forgotten.
