Its been a while since I seen that one.(PLOT SPOILER) I remember it was about a woman who investigate suicide of her sister, who uses to live in apartment 1303. During the events she discover that this place uses to be home of mother and daughter.She also discover that every woman who spent a night in this apartment died later.Apparently she did and know she try to break this curse or at least discover the truth.

I have seen a lot of japanese horror movies, but this one wasn't impress me.

The reason American movies can be predictable is because you are used to watching them and the writers know what gets the best audience reaction. The conventions used in Japanese cinema are different to Western ones.

@VSPVIDEO ..oh, I disagree that remakes are EXCATLY the same. The difference between "Jiàn Guǐ" and "The Eye" is the American version had a happy ending (no people died in the final scenes). Also the differences between "A Tale of Two Sisters" and "The Uninvited" where in the American version the main star was a murderer, not just suffering a dissociative identity disorder. Some are similar and there are some which are not.

Even though they do pop up every so often, most of the movie is anticipation and psychological suspense. They actually have a story other than "Blood, blood, titties, titties, blood" like we do. I am perfectly comfortable with putting my hand up and admitting that Americans have a VERY hard time making a horror film that evens out with gore and psychological writing as well as Asian movies.

An American Haunting follows subject matter & plot devices similar to most asian horrors. I could go on...

And one is not a remake of the other as 1303 was released in 08 February 2007 and 1408 was released in 22 June 2007
