He's a cute fluff! My budgie used to sleep in a strange way also, he would slowly shrink into a flat bird at night, was really cute although I did worry that he had a stomach problem or something. He died about 2 months ago :(

I have a parakeet that talks, got him when he was a baby and he would lay on my arm flat of his back and sleep like I did, or on the pillow with his backside on my arm. They mimick their people, and can think they are people. Until I got another bird, he related and bonded with me.

Awww we used to have a blue parakeet just like that and I would wake up to her sleeping beside me almost all the time. my brother stuck her beside me most of the time, other times she would fly in and just sleep beside me. mind you this was in the morning or afternoons

That bird is perfectly fine, my budgie does the same thing. Sleeps next to me on the bed but I have a segmented mattress, the budgie sleeps on the upper section which means there is no way for me to accidentally roll over on to the budgie. I left my cam recording it once, and sure enough my budgie glances over at me every so often to see if I'm still sleeping and once it sees that I'm still asleep it goes back to sleep as well lol.

It looks to me like he is mimicking what he sees his owners doing, budgies often lay down if they see people doing it I think and gets confused with illness, but it's certainly cute

your bird looks like something is wrong with it. I'm not making fun here, I'm being quite serious. Does he have a cramped cage or something? It's not normal for a budgie to be like that. My budgie stands upright at all times. I think something is wrong with your bird :(

@SyndicalistTimes Thanks for your concerns but there is nothing wrong with him, he´s been to the vet after all of this clips for a normal check and he is in great health. He doesnt do this all the time only when he is super relaxed and all of the clips are made in a time of around a year! So this is not in one day or so.

there is nothing wrong with this bird, he is sleeping, I had a budgie as well and she slept also this way for like 10 years straight.. they are not sleeping that way all the time but sometimes they prefer to sleep that way..

While I was watching this video, I began to cry because I was reminded of my parakeet. His name was Joey, and I had him for ten years. Your parakeet is a spitting image of Joey. Joey was an extremely sociable bird. My parents and I took very good care of him. Sometimes, he used to sleep with me. He used to lay his head against my nose. Haha. Anyway, he was a unique bird that I will never forget. Sadly, he passed away last August.

A collegue of my wife came home one day from work to find a green and yellow parakeet hoping around the curb on the street! Wings clipped! I've had one that's done similar.... he didn't like cages, so he 'lived' on a drying rack that we set up for him. sometimes, i'd wake up in the morning, and he'd be asleep on my shoulder, or chest, depending how i was sleeping

How did you get ur parakeet to do this? I have two parakeets and they only get on my hand when they want to get fed millet or other treats! I let them out of the cage as much as they want, they run around my room and play but that's it, any tips for me? :)

@boredazhell100 Hey, we didn't learn him anything. He sometimes does this when he is sleeping or just relaxing! He goes into the relax mode when we are just sitting at the cauch or when were on bed! He also love the keyboard of the computer (we think because it is a little warm) But he doesn't do this all the time! so its still special when he does this! Good luck with your two parakeets!
