@hax0rman101 You know..you could always run xp,vista or 7 on virtualbox or vmware in ubuntu and run the real live messenger in there..this way you'll experience something unmatchable and use the windows dependant softwares u can't live without on a virtualmachine! it's awesome but I'm kinda fond of mac right now but I'm gonna fix a new drive to run the latest UE 2.5 ! It's fucking awesome! (Y)
There is a program just like live messenger in linux. You can use it to chat with live messenger, im etc. But just like Youzarzif said that is also a option
you will never make... Window$ is a shit.. :) Bill gate$ only wants money... and in linux worlds everthings are free and no virus.. i never used anti-virus on linux.. you can be a professional linuxer with a good configurate firewall.. and its easy to put this effects on ubuntu use compiz, berly etc.. Sorry for my bad ENGLISH.. i'm Portuguese...
The best thing about this version is that it requires very little power. I think the minimum is a 1 gig processor & 512 mb of ram. But it doesn't use all of that. You can run a lot of the eye candy without a high end graphics card. So if you plan on buying a new PC run it using windows & use the old one for this. I bet you'll use the PC on this more than the windows PC. I just built My new PC about 3 months ago & was waiting on this version. I'll be doing a dual boot with Xp.
Wine,cedega,crossover linux pro,play-on-linux,etc,but only wine is free.The best can be wine+wine-doors(3dmark patched) on a 32bit system(from getdeb).
have you looked for driver updates for your particular mobo ? I have seen a PC running a 900 mhz processor & 512 mb of ram run it with little effort. That's odd. :-\
I wish I knew where to find em bro :( But you could try checking this out. w w w . c.n r . c o m. If your interested in something that looks like windows you could check out freespire. It's pretty interesting.
Has anyone been able to get Flash Player to run on x64? The only way I can watch Youtube is with Firefox for Windows running in Wine. The x64 Beta version of Flash does not work either.
pretty good effects its a good os i suppose if you want something fancyer than mac in terms of showoff, but you point out gamer eddition, but you didnt show any games

Not at all!!! First of all I do not have desktop so everything you've seen is being run on my laptop. And here are my specs:
Model: HP Pavilion dv6500t CTO Notebook PC
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo Processor 2GHz
RAM: 2Gb
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 512Mb
And by the way system process shows average 4% CPU load and only 100mb to 140mb RAM usage when running these effects something like Windows XP, so you definitely can give it a shot :)

Such a pity. Never mind then. :) Not that what you did is not good, of course. But I do think that developing (or adapting) more useful softwares (such as the above-mentioned) would better serve the cause of Ubuntu. Anyway, writing on my desktop with fire-like letters is just fine...
Well, don't know about that fact, but I can ensure you that a lot of people are first choosing Linux cause of it's beauty, and right after using it for a while understand it's stability and power. Pshotoshop CS4, I do know how, as a matter of fact, I am kin'da artist, but I ain't instructor and not gonna teach you how to work with it. Sorry ;)
Oh, yeah, one more thing
Ubuntu: Safe, Easy & Beautiful - and that is the rule!!!
cleofide@ ftr, there are competitive open-source alternatives to two of the three you just mentioned, all of which are *arguably* better-- i.e. Photoshop->>Gimp, and Wikipedia, which is by far the largest encyclopedia, and according to studies is overall just as accurate as well as more in-depth on average. as for Steam, I've heard bad things regarding their security practices (several accounts are stolen regularly (i.e. through phishing). but if you must, wine has nearly full functionality
Man great video yizikv, I just got Ubuntu ultimate 2.0 and I must say that Ubuntu Linux makes a fool out of Vista for sure. Great compiz effects, stablility and security. It makes me NOT want to go back to windows.
I truly apologize for those who requested my skydome image or anything else from this video, too many requests, however, i've just opened a forum topic on
forumubuntusoftware "dot" info
and gonna give some help & support, downloads (including mentioned above) and much more useful and interesting stuff. Go ahead. Feel free to register.
Celeron 2.1 1Gig ram Geforce 6200 256Mb and works perfect, no glitches. Just try it, I use both Ubuntu and Windows XP on my machine. Ubuntu is a big help to defrag and repair windows. You don't even have to be a CS major to do it, just click on an application and it does the job.
hey its working for me perfectly on my acer aspire, AMD64 1.9 turion X2 2GB ram nvidia geforce 128 MB machine.I have a question for yitzikv my wireless card doesnt turn on when i login it only does when i do "modprobe ath_pci", i am tired of doing it every time i login what should i do to avoid it. anyone answer please.

Next time, would you have the kindness to show us how you skinned your Photoshop CS4, your STEAM, and your Encyclopeadia Britannica? Thanks ;)

Pardon me please, I don't speak french ;) Can you please explain your request?
