  • WOW now this is CRAZY intense a few million time on this and you guys will be ready to join us in West Virginia on the Gauley River

Vid link before you travel to the gauley see this.

  • i like this! charlotte needs this, but need to do MORE to advertise it. i am just learning about it and i have worked in charlotte for 2 years. i live in a different city.

  • i live in charlotte

  • The park is pretty cool. The fact that it was shoved down the throat of the taxpayers sucks. It is now (as predicted) a failing moneysucker for which the taxpayers are again having to bail out. It's about as stupid an idea as cramming pro baseball into uptown Charlotte. The Democrats in charge need to get their heads out of their asses as do the voters of Charlotte and Mecklenburg county.

  • People like to have fun, apparently you have never had such a thing, dumbass.

  • Live a little longer and pay some taxes DUMBASS.

  • This video is hard to watch. Why is it so jumpy? It's basically a montage of short 2 second clips. Watch from 0:30 to 1:00 and you'll see what I mean.

  • How is the winter over there? Cold and windy?

  • My best friend lives like 2 miles from there.

  • Is this place open to the public?

  • You betcha! I've been there several times.

  • have to pay for parking.

    but thats it.

  • This park looks fun, but it is in real need for a landscape overhaul, and what the hell is up with that god awful racket, I hope they are not calling that music. I bet if they put in a kick ass go cart track that intertwines with the water works just might make it a little more interesting. Maybe a Putt Putt, and an arcade wouldn't hurt.

  • It's brand new. The landscaping will fill in. This is the first year it's been open.

  • Cool place - awfully made video. What's the deal with the 80's music and showing the same uneventful footage repeatedly.

This place wasn't made for yuppie boaters (though they must love it) - it's training for the US slalom team and competetive boating. They let rafts and private boaters down just for extra cash. Its main use is training.

  • yeah, that music pretty much makes me want to stab myself in the eardrums.

  • What another waste of taxpayer money. First, an arena the taxpayers' voted down, now this glorified amusement park for yuppies afraid to get their shiny Hummers dirty.

  • It's not paid for by taxes; it's been privately funded by business leaders in the Charlotte area, and it's making money.

By the way, I make about 20k a year and drive a shitty compact pickup, and I go there all the time.

  • On public land with a government guaranty. The TP's will foot the bill when the novelty wears off.

  • We'll have to agree to disagree; I know that I'll keep going as long as I live in the area.

  • Actually, Mr. smart guy, if the commercial venture fails, thye taxpayers get a $20MM waterpark for $7.5MM.

    Not a bad deal.

  • The park still need a little landscape and some side attractions, and the music still sucks, regardless of who owns the shit hole.

  • It's not tax-funded; it's been privately funded by business leaders in the Charlotte area, and it's already making money.

By the way, I make about 20k a year and drive a shitty compact pickup, and I go there all the time.

  • sad part? i live right by this place but i'm too scared to go lol

  • Where is this place?

  • You can get all the info at http://www.usnwc.org. For directions click "Contact Us" and "Directions".

  • This place rocks, it's fun big water with great waves to surf, well worth the ride and cash. No more shuttle!
