It's a wonderful film, but I can't stand the way Spanish and Latinoamericans have always been shaped in Holliwood movies. You know, the "exotic" type. European films do the same.
You are right by this angle, Hollywood is usually prone to clichés but I don't find so much of it concerning this movie, for in the case it was necessary to make it as authentic as it could be, since the original story took place in Sevilla of a certain time, with its elegant quarters where Doña Sol lived and the surroundings where the poor, the flamenco dancers and musicians, the workers and gipsies shared with each other.
