  • i love the show :)

  • Can you be my mom? <3

  • This show is fabulous!!! Great concept, love Francis and the Chef and the narrator/camera man is also fantastic. I'm recomending this show to all my friends, I'm finally learning how to cook authentic Japanese food at home. This show is better than any of the "celebrity chef" shows on TV, no hype, no obnoxious behavior and that "Cheffy" attitude that cooking is on the same level as brain surgery. Kudos to "Cooking with Dog" *****stars!

  • sooooo yummmyyy..thanks for the awesome vvideo

  • but why? why this dog???

  • Wow i want to cook this,it's like the beef bowl in Yoshinoya, what are the subtitute for Dashi and Hon-mirin?i'm afraid i won't find it here in Europe, thanks for sharing...

  • @K3vindust you can just use mentsuyu. if you have a local japanese store, im sure they have it. which part of europe are you?

  • @nasyitahali1 I'm in France,all i can find here is chinese store..thanks

  • @K3vindust ahh ok. i think they might have some japanese ingredients. im not sure. check it out kay. or you can just ask the people at yoshinoya where do they buy the ingredients?

  • @K3vindust you can substitute dashi with chicken stock, and for the hon-mirin..i guess you could just use sake, but if you do, use more sugar..since mirin is essentially sweet sake

  • @themellymellypoo Thanks a lot for this,i was only able to buy sake few days ago,now i can experiment on this and gave me a lot of idea, thanks much.

  • It's like she did not even eat the beef LOL

  • wow. i didnt know you could cook an egg that way :0

  • Although I followed all of the instructions, my eggs turned out almost hard boiled instead of the egg ite being softer than the yolk ):

  • Sometimes I think it's like torture for Francis to sit there always smelling good food... If I were there I'd go crazy already...

  • Anyone know what she says at the end?

  • @Allthingzvamp she said "I want someone fuckme so hard"

  • you shouldn't pour boiling water directly onto the eggs they can crack!

  • @itseffinsexxitime Well but this is how onsen tamago is made in Japanese style. Many people do it in Japan and it's ok

  • This show makes me feel good :) .... and hungry!

  • when do they cook the dog-said the american

  • "I hope you Have a great day:) " and everyone a early happy new year lol:D

  • It look sooo delicious i just want to eat them!!!!! I LOVE COOKING WITH THE DOG!!! BEST JAPANESE COOKING SHOW EVER!

  • @openskies11 yup,me too.I love watching cookingwithdog!

  • I love watching Cooking with Dog. I absolutely love it. :)

  • Yoshinoya FTW

  • Steak ums work, just tried it.

  • What happened at 3:53?

  • was es alles gibt... :D

  • okay so i've seen a couple of these videos and they look sooo good each time!! :D but some of the recipes need sake, wine, and i saw one with brandy. Do they make the food alcoholic? and are they really necessary?

  • @YamixYumexHikari1054 When you cook alcohol beverages, the actual alcohol burns out, and you're left with the taste. It's just flavoring. Now I HAVE seen on a Korean cooker's channel she said you can substitute the wine or sake with water. Though sometimes I've seen recipes where you can just exclude it without replacing it with water. Just try it out and see if you like it.

  • @Dragonslayer10203040 Please don't take this as an insult, but your typing skills are DAMN pathetic.

  • @Dragonslayer10203040 holy crap, work on your grammer a little bit. cuz no offence, but its makes you look DAMN stupid o-o

  • @PrincessKonohana @Prodigiousnesses , all and most of all, Francis, I'm sorry for making the dumb joke. But seriously, the first time I heard it I just felt funny inside. I'll delete my comment to make it better. Again, sorry. :<

  • who wants to marry with this woman?????

  • How do you cut the beef so that it's thinly sliced like you have it there? I know there's a machine for it, but if you know of any way to get similar results, please reply.

  • @zenith110 either you have the skill or you freeze the meat and then you slice it

  • I wanna eat that like SO BAD!

  • I love the videos :D

  • This is some crazy good stuff. I bought a japaese import microwavable gyudon bowl a few years ago and I couldnt believe how good this stuff tasted. The store stopped selling it because I was the only person buying so I learned to make it myself. I could eat this everyday. lol. I eat it almost everyday. The hardest part used to be finding bonito flakes to make the dashi

  • anyone know what's Hon-Mirin anyone plz?

  • @davidtj91 hon-mirin is a coondiment usually and commonly used in Japanese cuisine, is kinda like sake (is NOT sake) but sweeter and with less alcohol.

  • @davidtj91 Hon-mirin specifically is alcoholic mirin (they also make non-alcoholic mirin). Mirin is syrupy and sweet rice wine used for flavoring and glazes.

  • japan is soo awesome =) 愛漆器

  • everytime i hear beef bowl i think of Lambo from katekyo hitman reborn..haha

  • Making this tonight...

Sake and hon-mirin are easy enough to find. Sake is often just called "rice wine" and hon-mirin is called "rice wine vinegar". Both should be quite easy to find in your local white supermarket. ;)

  • @AV3NG3R00 sake is not rice wine...a common misconception

  • In fact....are they any alternatatives instead of sake and Hon-Mirin?

  • @ThePolkadog

Hi, I am Japanese. You may use white wine instead of sake, and you might be able to use white wine with sugar instead of Hon-Mirin because Hon-Mirin sometimes translated as sweetened sake. We sometimes alternate Mirin and sake + sugar in our japanease receipe. Good luck in your kitchen!!

  • @terakatsu1973

Probably, you can find sake and mirin if there is a big supermarket around your area. However, I think that the most difficult thing to find in the US is Japanese soup stock that you add when you make the Gyudon soup. It is crucial to enhance the taste of this receipe.

  • If you use chicken instead of beef...that works too right?

  • Is there any replacement for Hon-Mirin and Granulated Dashi

  • i think it's kinda cruel to cook the beef in front of that dog

  • @milklauz Oh shut up

  • @TeamRushdown i won't

  • @TeamRushdown it's cruel to cook in front of a dog, it's cruel to cook in front of a dog, it's cruel to cook in front of a dog it's cruel to cook in front of a dog it's cruel to cook in front of a dog it's cruel to cook in front of a dog it's cruel to cook in front of a dog

  • @milklauz I think it's cruel for you to even be on the internet little boy.

  • @milklauz How? beef is not dog.

  • i love the way how the egg being cook =D i going to try it

  • i want to eat it soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much !!!!!!

  • @yamashisho I'm interested!!

  • frances! your fur today is wild!

  • Seasonings (suger, sake, mirin, and soysauce) in skillet are the ingredients of the original Japanese teriyaki sauce.

  • 肉は薄切りで、赤ワイン入れると吉野家に近くなるね

  • omg i wana move to japan for a year and come back cooking only japanes food and a slim bodess! and beutiful smooth skin!

  • @ariesterrazas

you are always most welcome ;) xoxo

  • @ariesterrazas And even worse English grammer :)

  • @ariesterrazas and, dear god, some decent grammar

  • @Bloomberrypancakes dear dog! :DD

  • @ariesterrazas do it! i went to japan for an exchange student for a year. and i lost 10kg! ;) that is of course under my strict host mum's diet. :P

  • @nasyitahali1 lol wow how lucky!

  • Home made Sukiya!!!!!!!

  • Haha mine looked no way near as neat as this, and I just cracked an egg on top when it was done, it tasted so awesome! Definitely recommend this for a first timer. I want to try something more difficult now!

  • OH MY GOD!!!!! I just made this, and it was incredible! (even if I didn't have dashi, and had to substitute sherry for mirin and sake)

  • @sadNEgirl Aww congratulations !

  • the dog poodle is very cute lol

  • Does anyone know anything that I can replace Mirin and doshi with I cant find it!

  • @gottaloveanime I will assume you are asking what you can replace the dashi and mirin with. If so, you can replace the mirin with sake and dashi with any stock (beef/chicken/veg) BUT, I will tell you the taste will be completely different than if you were to use those items. I suggest watching the ozoni soup video for making dashi so you can use it in this recipe.

  • This reminds me of Mongolian beef

  • Aww random shih tzu at the end ^^

  • She is so cool that she doesn't even cry when she cuts the onions! ._.

  • ooooo fancy, new, improved quality!

  • Going to make this dish tomorrow, use to eat this all the time when i was station in japan.

  • 1:50 I hear: add sake...hong meiling OoO!!!!1!

  • yummy

  • I've had this before it is so good. I cook my egg all the way though..

  • I love the voice he uses to say, "Chop the scallions."

  • what did she say in the end?

  • @jakobneirinck I think she said she made a mistake and she didn't know she was supposed to cook it for 20 minutes (maybe she was refering to the eggs)

  • Where is the kidnapp cooking lady button?

  • my face when the egg came out of the shell cooked: O_O

  • woah! thanks sooo much for the recipe ^^ i ate this and I didn't know which is the name of this tasty japanese food :)

  • i like the dog ^ ^

  • I like how she tasted like... a peas worth and yet claims it was, "Oishi!" I mean... come on, at least actually take a bite.

  • I tasted this in Japan, delicious :D

  • You guys should tottaly write a cookbook :)

    Japanese recipies by Frances :D

  • ありがとうございます。次はハヤシライスのレシピーもお願いします。

  • Is the dog suppose to be Frances??

  • Wow! A perfect woman for a wife! The one who would finally cook for us in the kitchen with a variety of choices!!

  • Also found benishoga there but couldn't find 7 flavored pepper.. Red pepper is going to have to do..

  • Went to asian store and got beef. It said "Shoulder fat beef" thin siced and has fat like beef on this video and it doesn't look like brisket. I bet it's higher part of shoulder meat...

  • beef is expensive to come buy in Japan, but there kobe is sublime, like pay ribeye price for round or chuck!

  • SUKAAAA!!!!!!!

  • looks heavenly

  • The guy's voice is awesome.

  • I believe its thin cut brisket. I need to freeze brisket, cut the meat with slicer.. Now I'm in market for slicer.. Anybody know if one of those cheapo slicer cuts frozen meat?

  • @MrYonpa

Try an Asian supermarket, like Ranch 99, if you have one near you. They usually sell thin-sliced meat for hot pot.

  • what cut of beef is this???

  • Yummy. <3

  • OMG HE SAID SCALLIONS THIS TIME! AND NOT LONG GREEN ONIONS! i wasnt expecting that O.o but long green onions and scallions are the same thing, just different names

  • what's with these fucking estee lauder ads? Ever damn video I swear

  • where is a Eat Button?

    Also, Where is Smell Button?

  • @tk94732 ad the Taste button

  • @tk94732 It's funny you ask that, because an artificial smell generator that connects to your computer exists.

  • Watching this video and wishing I hadn't had so much for breakfast.... :(

  • is this same as teriyaki beef?

  • Comment removed

  • @p0331546

ilttle bit different from teriyaki beef.

teriyaki beef is grilled beef.gyudon's beef is boiled beef.

gyudon's beef is simply taste, more than teriyaki beef.

  • that is uncooked!!!!

  • I am SO grateful to the Cooking With Dog team for setting up all these videos. Learned so many proper cooking techniques, which most cooking videos don't even bother to show. Oh, and YES, I love this Gyudon dish. I now make this and Agedashi Tofu on a regular basis. Yummy!!!!

  • I am so happy to have found this channel! I lived in Japan many years ago and I love Japanese food. I am so happy to be able to cook some of these recipes, especially Gyudon and Tonkatsu. Now all I have to do is find a good asian grocer.

  • What did she say at the end?

  • Low fat. I like it. 8D

  • can i hire her? lol but seriously she's like a mother i never had..my mom can't cook anything all she knows how to cook is something with chicken; yum right? ah NOT!!

  • ahhhhh doesn't she know you're not supposed to use nonstick cookware around pets?! i hope Francis doesn't keel over in the next episode....

  • made this and it was delicious. may i ask if we can double all the ingredients if we want to make 4 servings?

  • I remember when I was kid that I always order gyudon at our favorite japanese restaurant. The place was great and really stick to traditional cooking! The recipe actually reminded me of my childhood memories. Thank you for the video!

  • Due to the high japanese presence here in Brazil, most of the ingredients are quite easy to find here. But this does not prevent them to be sometimes very expensive. But some of these japanese foods are even part of the brazilian everyday life!

  • i LOVE most of your video recipes, but in my culture and in classic french culinary technique, it's a major "No No!" to submerge any red meats in water unless you are eating or drinking it, you are basically rinsing the meat of all it's flavor, only justifiable by making a soup or stew, i find absolutely no logic behind what you trying to achieve by doing so, why no just cook the sliced beef in the flavored liquid??

  • @kikitoStamatis I agree with you. It really can reduce the flavor of the meat if boiling it on water. But the video says that it is to remove excess fat. I guess japanese cooking focuses on lean cooking when it comes to beef. But their fish and sushi is just heavenly! Gotta give them props to that. :)

  • where can i get the eggs from

  • @wilsonikesh A chicken?

Any grocery shop or hyper market has it.

  • How do you cut beef like that? :\

  • @YukiCrossist get it from the butcher like that. Here is Sydney I get it from the Vietnamese Butchers, its called 'Steamboat Beef"

  • wouldent it be easier just to go to yoshinoya and order a beef bowl

  • @cooly1v56 their beef is too fatty..

  • looking at that beef makes me want a philly cheese steak xD

  • what i wouldnt give for my mum to cook that good

  • I wish she was my grandma...

  • my mouth is watering...

  • 38 people is a vegetarian ..

  • i love gyudon! its one of my favorite dishes to prepare! yeah for gyudon! :P

  • when i was watching this vid

it was nearly the lunch time

and I got hungry more than ever

  • i'm watching this at 2:30am.... damn i'm hungry now :(

  • @xtiffy06 it says submerge the eggs... i don't get what you are trying to portray...

  • @migencluz it's a joke. on some of these videos, some people mishear the words or just make a joke about the dog's accent

  • @224402dolim Oohhhh!

  • omgg so yumm.... >A<!!

  • the college i went made this in there cafe they hade next to their bookstore well it was a fourm of gyudon it was the meat over white rice but it was great i bought it all the time they also made katsudon

  • so who thought the egg was whipped cream or something like that at first?

  • WOOHOO!! I got all the ingredients already, had left over hotpot beef, making this shit tonight!!

  • omg the tasting at the end........ not sure if she even tasted anything.... :/

  • For those in the US who can't find thinly sliced beef in the meat case: use Steak-ems (don't boil them, cook them in the shallow pan before you make the sauce then add them back near the end). Gyudon is meant to be fast food so I don't bother with partially freezing and shaving a real steak.

  • OOOHH, THE DOG IS THE HOST...I GET IT NOW.

  • Inu to ryōri ^^

  • Making this for dinner tonight-- wish me luck!

  • Comment removed

  • i don't know how could i suddenly smell this gyudon in the middle of watching this video and it's 5 am in the morning ..

  • poor doggy thats animal cruelty all that food and he must resist lol

  • spoon the beef and onion...

  • DOGGIE >.<

  • Arigato! This is such perfect simple recipe. Now i just need to wait 6 more years to get a job an buy the ingredients. :)

  • @shineelover16 it is aligato lol

  • @TpGohst sadly, there are no L's in japanese, only R's so shineelover16 is right.

  • @migencluz I was about to say there are R's and L's. I'm currently studying japanese.. The R's and L's are used as the same character but with different sound. But yeah.. shineelover 16 is right, it is ARIGATOU.

  • @lunamiz101 sadly, there are no L's in japanese. in fact, my name, miguel, is migeru in japanese. trivia... japanese people find it hard to pronounce the L sound so it simply doesn't exist in their language.

  • @shineelover16 u r 12? XD being a creeper and asking random people their age!!!
