  • how do you get the magnet off of the backing plate that it came with in the hard drive?

  • kan u go even heavier???

  • *rips out hard drive*

  • FUCK!! THIS GUY HAS THE SAME HAMMER AND WEIGHT SET AS ME DX

  • good grief!

  • just trollin. this vid is fake and gay

  • lucky >:( lol

  • Yeah, really lucky. I have few magnets with over 100+kg strenght.. And I have few videos of them here in youtube.

  • Bought from internet? Or?

  • Yes, from Germany.

  • Too bad that in Finland is not shops where you can buy little bigger neos...

  • Miksi niin? Sehän on ihan kätevä että voi ulkomailta tilata, eikä tullikaan *vielä* ole puuttunut asiaan..

  • No mutta se vaan olis aika paljon helpompaa...

  • täälä on

  • Did you manage to get the magnet off without destroying the plating of the magnet? Of to how? In the early days it was enough to bend the plate it was on but nowadays the magnets either break or the nickel plating which protects against corrosion comes off (neodym needs to be protected in contrast to otfer magnet types). Wonder if to put in in a solution for a few days before removing. You can't heat it since neodym is destroyed already around 80 degr C. Other types can take more heat.

  • it makes me wanna smashes my hard drive. shit you!

  • TOO COOL :)

  • song name? awesome bass

  • barbers adagio for strings tiesto remix

  • ya it can also lift a empty fridge after all it is a neodimeon magnet

  • ya it can also lift a empty fridge after all it is a neodimeon magnet

  • how'd u get it unglued from the bracket it is on in the hard drive?

  • *smashes open hard drive*

  • ........................

  • Mmmmm... Magnets

  • they hurt like hell when they close on ya finger. they made my thumb bleed on the inside and had scar for like a week

  • They are very strong, yet very fragile.

You'll break them easily if you let them snap together like in this video.

  • Where abouts are these magnets in the com

  • open up a dead hard drive (voiding any warranties) and you'll see them, two of them!

make sure it's dead though, don't just rip yours out and have a look, you'll end up killing it...

  • I took apart an old drive...had 4 magnets, 2 on each side on a thick metal base...hard as hell to remove, they were glued on too!

  • tang inang yan!!

  • woot i smashed my old computer and i have magnets now! yay

    !

  • nice bedsheets on the first one. seriously though, those magnets are crazy strong to support that much wheight. how much was the second one, 10 lbs?

  • It's not fake, I've opened various hardisk's myself just for the magnets (8 year old hardisk's of course :0), and yes they are seriously strong. I accidentally broke my current ones recently when allowing them to smack together from a distance. :/

  • hehehe, some people here are just really ignorant! sigh, a world full of 'gifted beings"

  • Yea there are two magnets in hdds. And yea, they are VERY strong. I opened a 6.4 gb hd. When i unscrewed the support, they istantly attached themselves. I had to use the screwdriver as a lever to separate them from each other. I didn't yet tested with some weights, but i can make a comparison. I also got a 80Watt speaker magnets. It is barely half that strong. And keep in mind that it weight almost 1kg, compared to less than 100grams of BOTH hd magnets.

  • he isnt lieing those things hurt if u get ur finger stuck between 2 of them!!!

  • Ok, will someone please just dismantle their hard-disk and see if there's really a super-magnet in it? That would solve all this controversy (I'm not doing it, by the way)

  • omg, some people really don't have any idea on how powerful a hardisk magnet is. tsk tsk. what a pity

  • fake

  • It's real, I have some of these magnets as well from hard drives that I've pulled from dead computers

  • how can you say its a fake one? the magnet is not that big. its a thin one. have you ever seen a hardisk magnet?

  • you can see where he edited the video

  • fake

  • how is it fake?

  • I want that hammer :D

btw what is the title of the music?

  • whoa. I've been interested in neodymium magnets for a while, and have a few small ones. I didnt realize harddrives had them, and big ones at that!

  • Check out my vids. :)

  • I still have 2 magnets -which can be a pain in the ass if putting them near computer equipment

  • Comment removed

  • true tru trux readg 34q56fwerpojdicklicx

  • A lil' bit of Half Life Crowbar feeling about that.

  • oh man, the maount of hard drives ive thrown out that

I could have salvaged magnets out of!! - These magnets

would be perfect to set of the parking ticket sensor

in westfield carparks so you can park there all day and use the magnet, swipe it over the floor where you drive in - and Wala! get a new ticket and drive straight out, get free parking not pay $24AU!!!

    Well done dude

  • The magnets are made from 'Neodynium' its on the periodic table. The magnet is in the harddrive to keep all the tracks in magnetic allignment to protect them

  • I've got a collection of these things from ripping drives apart over the years. They come in pairs of 2. Trust me, DO NOT get your fingers (or any appendage) between them.

  • yes it stings like a motherfucker, and will cut u open *had a nasty incident involving the webbing between finger and thumb*

  • Yeah, I always destroy my old broken harddrives and take out the magnet, fun stuffs.

  • where r the magnets

  • Inside the Hard drive,at the base of the arm that moves are coils, on either side are usually 2 strong magnets.

  • It's amazing that there's a magnet that powerful INSIDE a hard drive when a magnetic field can wipe out a hard drive... (I'm not saying I don't believe it, I've got one too :) )

  • where r the magnets

  • I didnt know they were this strong.

  • I know...

One day, my finger was between it and the heater I liked it to hold on...

  • galing mo tsong or tsang man ka

  • sweet! i had an old laptop and took it apart and i didnt find any magnet in there! cuz i heard there was a strong one like u said in the hardisk..

  • Get one from a full size hard drive

  • Nice video you made, hehe. I'm from TPC too.

  • okay, it's strong
