Oh! I forgot to mention that I completely agree about the goon mentality. It doesn't even work so well for really skilled and deep teams like Philly, so why should it work for a team that can't score? Less time fighting, more time scoring.
Oh, not at all on a permanent basis, just to see if he can get anything going. Sometimes it only takes one player on a line to really create chemistry or open up scoring for a team. One or two games couldn't really hurt, given where the Leafs are now anways.
@skepticsightsten ... maybe. We saw Stalberg's ability to score in the preaseason, but in the regular season he didn't do much. I'm all for calling up the young guns, but not on a permanent basis yet.

Well, I think it would be good to give guys like Tlusty, Gunnarson, Stalberg, Hanson and Bozak a taste (not necessarily at the same time), by benching alternating people each night. That way, you teach a bunch of them a lesson, while giving more experience to your up-and-comers.
Unfortunately, there really is nothing at this point you can do. It's clear this team overachieved big time last season. Plus guys like Luke Schenn and Mikael Grabovski are going through sophomore slumps. Gustavsson is now struggling to get the whole North American style of play, plus dealing with a new coach and systems and no defense hasn't helped either. Face it, as I've mentioned before this team is still rebuilding, and with 11 UFA's coming up, there will be drastic changes ahead...
...but, most of those won't be done til after the olympics. You want my personal opinion, I think Burke is waiting to flush out the team of all the garbage players that were here before him. Oh yeah, congrats to your alma matter on winning the Yates Cup. But claiming the oldest trophy in football isn't saying much, since the oldest trophy we even have is the Heisman for the best college player.

And Jonas Gustavsson is struggling now? After being fantastic in the first 8 games he started in? He looked like a different goaltender last night.
And thanks for the congratulations! Of course I'm going to make a big deal out of us having the oldes trophy. Especially when I keep hearing about how much "history" the American game has, when the Canadian game is older, and had the original rules of football, before the Americans came in and made the ball more narrow, the field much smaller and added an extra down!

I have faith in Hanson's ability to score. I'd say call him up and send down one of any number of players.
