  • Luckily where I live, the cable TV provider which is also the broadband provider won't allow this sort of thing. They're such a powerful monopoly, and they have so much sway, that they can keep this competitor out of their market. I guess it's one of the few times a monopoly is a good thing. My neighbor has an electric fence that he activates in the spring to keep the critters out of his garden. It creates a "pop" on all SW freqs. That's annoying enough for me. I couldn't cope with QRM.

  • excellent,73,zd8h

  • I hear this horrible noise through my guitar amp, it's driving me mad!

  • @menamestom I am sure you do, its been found on all matter of audio devices.

You should consider reporting this to Ofcom etc, please pop along to UKQRM for help on this or mail me here for info

  • sounds ok to me we have no problems with those items

  • @29pu04 Sorry can you clarify what you mean please?

  • BT is recalling ALL the PLT adapters they supplied made by Comtrend, citing a safety issue. The recall appeared only three days after the ITU Recommendation on PLT interference maximum levels... The adapters BT are using to replace them hide the pollution until the adapters are used, Lee Talbot of BT Vision Complaints wrote, "While customers are watching video-on-demand services the adaptors will be in normal power mode and emissions will be the same as the earlier models of Comtrend adaptor."

  • I am a SWL love the hobby and on track for a foundation licence just a note to say good luck asking people to turn this item off, i have lived in areas where, if you went to the door saying, your stopping me using my rado, you would be knocked out on the spot! this is a nightmare for sure and i feel sorry for anyone suffering from it :(

  • Just wondering what you have been able to do about the adapters in your area mike?? I have noticed the noise level coming up in my area and now suffer S8 of crap every night on 40 and 80 mtrs.. however it doesnt sound quite the same as your qrm..dont know what the hell it is.. does reporting to offcom have any results?? Dave M0TWA

  • I see some adverts on here for some of these QRM makers but no comments can be put under the Adverts. I think they must want to go bust, its like these big companies are committing suicide

The rummer is its affecting hospitals. Big pay outs

  • SHOCKING.

But then this is Progress - isn't it !!!!!

How can these devices gain the CE pass mark ?

    Money ?

  • Blimey. Ive read and heard an awful lot of bad news about these beasties. Luckily for me, they dont yet plague my area, but Im sure its only a matter of time. Ive watched a few of your vids this evening, and the problems some people have is far worse than I ever imagined.I find the examples of amateur band and bc band QRM at 8 minutes in quite depressing.

  • HI and yes it is very worrying. Do join us on the UKQRM Yahoo group and check out our web site UKQRM (dot org)

  • @mikesndbs Hello there, Could you please tell me one thing.... why does these all stations are so damn... creppy, spooky, scary? i can understand SSTV (Sounds that mixed togheter make image), or Morse... but there numbers and voices, music... First thing, it is god damn disturbing ( spies who lisent to this are "souless", i could not stand it) and secret transmissions... numbers... Do you can stand it? And if you can, please answers why these spies make this so disturbing. Thank you once more

  • In Portugal is the same. It´s dangerous to mess up with radioamateurs and CBs: some guys are responding with mobile 4Kw CB amplifiers, destroying the system, while they drive along the streets. Some have quit talking because they say it´s much more fun the PLC hunting...!!!

The Companies using PLC and the like are complitly STUPID, and they are having Big troubles and scandles. Don´t mess with peoples hate thougs whem they feal they are coned... 1 second ago

  • The PLC is the death of short-wave radio. Be avoided by all means possible that this system is successful. 73´s from Spain.

P.S: Sorry, for my simple english

  • Thank you your support is much needed.

  • Well ive signed petitions, moaned to all who would listen, and ime very angry about this. I dont think the home office give a monkeys about SW. as long as theire pals in the city are earning, Whats Short Wave?"

    Cynical of Sheperds Bush..

  • So thats whats f*****g up my new SW Radio. On 80 meters this is awful.

    Thanks for the information mate.

    Stuart

  • Looks like ofcom dont have a problem with the plts, as long as they have the CE mark on them.

If the shoe was on the other foot, & it was radio user causing the interference they would clamp down on you .

  • Off topic reply here :-)

I have had several nice mails about the lady's voice that says "UKQRM fighting for shortwave" in the intro.

I am pleased to say that she is my wife and very supportive of our cause. And yes she would consider voice over/singing work mail me direct please and thanks to all of you who asked. You can find more of her work on my channel.

  • Maybe you guys should buddy up with the anti-Phorm brigade, you kinda have a common agenda going.

  • Hi, thanks for the suggestion but we have to be clear that the PLT menace is not just down to BT! as I say in my video I got the adaptors from eBay so nothing to do with BT.

If you see UKQRM video 2 I show examples of the very many other PLTs flooding the EU market,

  • Nice vid, Mike. Glad you showed the construction of your df loop as well, it could help people to make their own.

Having heard the stand-by mode, I now think there is one near me, somewhere, as I have heard the constant tone with 'pips' on occasion, but I've not heard the full chatter. Whether it doesn't get used much, or what, I don't know.

  • Thanks Eric! glad its helped you solve a mystery then!

  • Excellent demonstration Mike. I hope OFCOM are viewing these videos and taking note!

  • Hi and thanks for the rating and comment!

Lets hope they are and will kick this rubbish out of the UK if not the EU!
