Great video. I am having this surgery next week. I had laser procedure done but that did not permanently solve the problem. I'm worried about scarring but hope for the best. I am a little frightened to have it done but I figure I might as well just go ahead and get it over with. Thanks for enlightening me as to what to expect. I agree about an update on how your leg looks now.
hi there im 15 and just went to the doctor today about a varicose vein that appeared on the back of my leg recently... its not a massive one and theres no pain but he said if it gets worse i should consider geting it removed... i have never had surgery before... what was the surgery like?
@killerpigeon347 The surgery is easy. Don't worry. I had my first one when I was your age, and it didn't stop it. That's why I had this second surgery. Do yourself a favor: start wearing compression stockings. I'm sure you don't want to but believe me, it's not really a big deal and it really helps. Good luck!
It would be nice to have a new video of what your leg looks like NOW, so we can see the long term outcome. Thanks so much for posting this video. All of the other videos are PR for the surgeons who do the procedure. This brings the reality of the procedure to light.
Advice to reduce bruising after the procedure: Take Arnica montana homeopathic pellets, 5 pellets twice daily under the tongue after the surgery, for 4 weeks.
I want to know how the scarring is. Do you actually get to wear shorts, or are there purple splotches down your legs? I have it really bad and it's absolutely ruined my life. I don't go on dates and I can't wear shorts. I'm super active,so when I do wear shorts to run or go to the gym I am met with constant stares. It's so devastating.
@mschirmersf I'm sorry to hear this is so devastating for you. My veins were very bad before the operation but I've been wearing compression stockings for almost 10 years and it never really bothered me. Now, I do indeed have 12 purple marks on my leg but I still wear the stockings so you can't see them. Of course, you can definitely see that I'm wearing stockings but that doesn't really matter to me that much. I wear shorts all the time! My girlfriends have always been cool about it too.
i would like to ask you if this treatment is expensive?, i need to do the same, i have no insuranse and need to pay myself, few month ago a clinic say the cost could be 2300.oo dlls... i'll apreciate any coment from anyone... thanks
@19chalito78 I really have no idea what this procedure would cost without insurance. Sorry. I have Kaiser and it only cost me $50 so I am definitely counting my blessings. Good luck!
Thanks for sharing, im 24 and having pain and problems and they are planning on doing this to me. I was wondering what the recovery time was for you and anything i should know or questions i should ask before the surgery?? again thanks for the video
@CailetImagea This was the second time I had this surgery done. I was only 15 the first time ... so I know how you feel. My recovery this time around was about 30 weeks. I was walking on the 2nd day but it took a while to get back to normal. Make sure you have thigh-high 30-40 compression stockings. Good luck!
@brodega5 I am now using thigh-high stockings with 30-40 compression. For me, I'm using the tightest stockings I can find. I'm assuming (and hoping) it will reduce the chances of them coming back. I wish you luck with your recovery. And thank you for writing a comment!
I just had this done in both legs 6 days ago.I had some bruising and swelling in both legs, but getting better everyday.I'm so happy I got this done, Its been only a few days and my legs are beginning to look like normal legs.I had really bad Varicose Vein that traveled up both legs my legs where also discolored because of the Venous reflex disease.I felt my legs where deformed, but now I can see a huge improvement and its just going to get better!!
@Tracy35nyc Thanks for the comment. Be sure to wear compression stockings every single day. It will stop it from coming back. I only NOT wear mine if I'm in a bathing suit or sleeping in bed. Other than that, I have them on all the time.
I just had the same thing done to me last week. The only difference is I had a lot of bruising and it worse over the first few days. I'm into day 9 of recovery, and I'm worried that I'm not getting much better. How long did it take you do recover?
@sammygoat For me, it healed quite quickly. I had significant tenderness for about two weeks but it started to fade after that. Now, about one month later, I'm back at the gym doing the same cardio I was doing before. Good luck with your recovery!
@brodega5 I had another surgery much earlier in life. At that time, they made an incision right up by my groin. But this time, it was apparently not necessary. Don't worry. That previous surgery healed well too. I mean, it's not fun but you'll get through it. Good luck!
Thank you for sharing this video. I came across it this week at home while recovering from the same surgery; it would have been nice to have seen it prior to my own to know more of what to expect. My incisions are from knee to top of leg, with sclerotherapy from knee down, and with a great deal more bruising than you seem to have. Good luck with your recovery!
@GPAR10 Thank you for your comment. I wish I would've taken a video BEFORE the surgery so I could show the before and after comparison ... but I just didn't think about it at the time. I hope you are recovering from the bruising and getting better soon. Thanks again for watching the video!

@tacticalexecution I had this done to me last friday, but just on the left leg,
with 15 incisions. I have some bruising and swellings, but getting better.
From the day#5 I use compression stocking 20-30, but may be 30-40 is
better. What is your opinion? Thank you for this video and all of the
comments.

@tacticalexecution Thank you for sharing this video. You gave me courage. I gonna make
the same surgery next month with about 15 incisions and the first one gonna be
close the groin
I would ask you why you did not choose EVLT? and
why did not incision on the top of the leg close the groin?

@tacticalexecution I use medical compression stocking from 2 years and I feel
much better. I think that after the surgery I gonna continue, because I really
get used and I like this. May be you can try too.
