Winnipeg is very simple. I like to look at it as the balance between... the yin and yang. the song captures this feeling perfectly. this city takes a lot of shit from other cities thinking they are somehow better, yet, they're the same. I LOVE Winnipeg (grew up there) but like any town you are from there are always many things that you might not like about it. Oh and the golden business boy is the golden boy above the Legislature building. Anyway, absolutely love this band. Makes me miss the peg and its music scene. Saw the band play in Toronto last night. I lived in Winnipeg for seven months in 2001. When I would tell people I was from California many would respond...."Why would you want to come here." I often got the same response in other cities and towns in Manitoba. I just found the response odd, that's all. Hey, I love the Weakerthans. I love Winnipeg and I love Manitoba. I get it the song is facetious. But for many from the Peg it reflects a point of view that for them is sadly true.
