  • Ginas shoes are so in style right now. . . .

  • "Gina... watch your purse baby"

  • FUCK THAT SHIT THAT NIGGA WILL DIE, HEADS WILL ROLL my friend getting hit me him and mostly me with a bat will be all over that butt within 10 minutes of Gina telling me

  • i cant stand ron

  • This is one of my favorite episodes from this show.

  • I don't think he was abusive just because his dad was abusive towards him, but I really think he had psychological issues plus that old double standard. He could look women up and down with Gina in the same room, but he wants to dictate to her who she allows to hang around her. I could see if Ron was being inappropriate but he wasn't. And then he demands to know who she is studying with AFTER he tells her he will never touch her again. And he disrespects her by calling her a skeezer. SO SAD.....

  • This show was awesome! I love it.

  • This was the first Different world episode I ever saw! Back in 2006

  • @09bonita09 06, damn you must be young

  • Its crazy because it shows how abuse travels down cause he was abused by his dad too

  • @gmf20002 yo im trynna find it

  • What's the name of the episode when Gina's abusive boyfriend returns in the later seasons?

  • @Jeffrizel1986 I think it's called "College Kid."

  • @dianh71 Thank you.. that was the episode

  • @Jeffrizel1986 yea i remember that one too

  • this was my favorite epidsode

  • Back when black women had some fire in them and were sexy without trying. Before Beyonce was the "standard." Before women had to wear revealing clothing or do scandalous things to become noticed. Before they started replacing black women in music videos for "more ethnic or white" women. Before black people has a whole lost respect for ourselves. RIP to 90s-back. I miss good television shows like this that featured our people.

  • @Mikizzle15 you put that shit perfect............sad but true

  • Something I don't understand: Was he beating her up in the studio while that other guy was on the other side of the window?

  • @dianh71 If you notice, when they started kissing the first time, he left. That was his q to go because he saw them kissing.

  • @dianh71 no i think the guy lefted so noone saw lol

  • this was a deep episod.

  • Wow it's weird how girls always have another girl's back but a boy won't always stick up for his boy when he needs to not being sexist I'm just sayin because of Jada Pinkett saying "what's her name where she at?"

  • His rap during the first part of the show was WACK OMG the worst "girlies are freaks and thats all there is to it girl come ova to the crib and said will you undo..... LOL dude really??

  • Kadeem or dwaune is pure genius for writing and directing a episode on abuse and women think its right and it is not

  • The show "Roseanne" did an episode on abuse.

  • One of my favorite episodes...

  • "Honey Dip"? Seriously? Ewww.

  • @TheSapphireEmpress96 So '90s... Lol.

  • I ain't going to front. Jasmine Guy got some flow though.

  • KADEEM HARDISON WILL BE THE MAN FOREVER!! NO HOMO!!

  • Wow, 90s slang.

  • There's some book on Amazon called: The Org 'Biography of a Violent Man'. Not sure how a book can be so violent and still funny at the same time, but it is. They limit it to only a 100 copies a year.

  • why would anybody dislike this??

  • thats whats so wrong!! the chris brown and rihanna story is so humorus to ppl!!!!

  • @smileyface1995

What's so is how people want them to be poster children, even though their relationship wasn't abusive. What's even worse is how people pretend to care about whatever happened between them. The Gina character was such dumb and annoying broad, I didn't even feel connected to this one like all the other VSEs of ADW.

  • lmao 1:22

  • SEE WE NEED MORE SHOW LIKE THIS.. ACTUALLY SHOW THE YOUNG PERSON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS IS NOT COOL. OR ANY VIOLENCE........ GREAT SHOW HATS OFF TO DEBBIE ALLEN...

  • kik a flow a nigga

  • Notice how the COMMUNITY got involved in helping Gina out of the relationship. Found it very telling that they wouldn't just accept that Gina accepted her own fate and the way it was gonna be for her was just the way it was gonna be.

  • @Fishercherrlynn Are you saying that she should've accepted the abuse?

  • @Fishercherrlynn well said!

  • i love this video i miss a different world

  • the victim Gina is the same one telling Lena at least i got a man, well at least she dont got a man beating on her like she some kind of crap =) material aint nothing it the <3!

  • w w w gopetition com / petitions / a-different-world / signatures html

visit this site to join petitiion for further dvd release of 'a different world' .

  • I like how this show always has a meaning to it. This particular one is one of the most meaning that I have seen. I miss shows like this and the fact that I don't have cable I appreciate those who keep loading them on youtube..please keep downloading

  • @keishaloveschelsea i agree with you.

  • this was a great episode, like No Means No with Freddie/Grant date rape storyline. But isn't it convenient how these slimy brothers just happen to enter the college at the right time for the storyline lol?

  • What really pisses me off about domestic violence is that friends and family members blame the victim. They always say things like "Oh, she's so stupid, why don't she just leave, she must enjoy it." They don't get that it's way more complicated than that. There are many different reasons why they stay, and the woman enjoying a man beating her isn't one of them. Bottom line is, if it were that simple to just get up and walk off, they would be doing just that.

  • @blaquenuff007

Yeah, they have very low self esteem or like pain and being controlled That goes for men who let women abuse them . I really feel sorry for abused animals and children.

  • my ex bf hit me with a chair recently it really hurt my feeling

i wish he would be my friend i dont have have no friends :(

  • @noahman1234 Do you need someone to talk to? I'm here.

  • @dianh71 im upset about it

  • @noahman1234 OMG please go talk to someone even if it's just female teacher. Are you scared to tell your parents? If I was you friend I would kick his butt, but I recommend you tell someone, don't wait for it to happen again if it happens again.

  • @MsKwan09 i told people no one took it serious :( maybe im a bad person

  • @noahman1234 you are not a bad person and if you can't talk to people without badges maybe you just need to talk to the authorities. You aren't still in contact with him are you?

  • @MsKwan09 yah i am:(

  • @blaquenuff007 i would leave maybe its different when u have parents or big brothers and uncles but u are right but you can leave i think its an excuse sometimes

  • This was such a good show.

  • Amazing, Lena figured the whole thing out.

  • such a positive show with awesome messages...what happened to writing like this.

  • We need a show like this nowadays. Positive Black shows about college life. Rather then bs like College hill

  • @daking03

Amen! Too many shows nowadays show nothing but half naked girls and the men who enjoy disrespecting them.

  • - Jada Pinkett was Such a Little Cutie !

  • @aeropostalebunny1 yes she was :)

  • there's an episode where he comes back and tries to win Gina back but hasn't. Billy Dee Williams guest starred. what's the name of the episode?

  • @teech107122 i think "college kids"

i cant find it on youtube,

  • @teech107122 "college kid"

  • Kadeem Hardison is an exactly director. He also the directed the Tupac episode.

  • "Damn"....LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what is the name of the song at 4:30?????

  • "DAMN" lol

  • Dude i fucking hate when women get beat by their man and justify why he did it and shit and then don't want nobody to help them

  • 0:52 Dion couldn't rap at all!

  • Terrence is dancing his ass offf. lmao

  • lol @ Whitley she was so serious with that rap! look @ her head and hand movements LMBO!!!

  • damn . . he reminds me of my ex . .

  • I like the fact that they pick one of the stronger women to be the one in the domestic violent relationship to show that anyone could be subject to this serious subject

  • somebody please get the episode when deon came back...with billy d williams on on the show..

  • @keniellew I love that episoide

  • @chynadoll987 ITS ON YOUTUBE!.

  • @keniellew the episode you are looking for is from season 6 and I believe that it is called "College Kid"....I know I saw it on youtube...I think adwreunion has it...I think

  • What Has Happend To Most Of The Cast? Ive really Gotten Back Into This Show Since It Started Airing Again On Tv1

  • @kirkindog well 1 of dem got shot

  • Freddie is so beautiful! Lena is a fire cracker! Whitley is such a southern belle! I would have never guessed that Gina would deal with that sort of abuse! Man Dion is fine but he needs his ass whooped!

  • Damn! The first time Gina gets some play, homeboy bopp'in her in the face!

  • This was an eye-opening episode. Debbie Allen was really hitting home on quite a few hidden issues in this series. I watched this one especially with my daughters...

  • "That's bull! Gina, watch your purse baby." LOL Whitely is hilarious.

  • one scene I remember from seeing it on tv was when MrGAines tells one of the girls about his cousin. The cousin thought the husband beating her meant he loved her. Then mr Gaines says "one day he"loved" her too much"

  • jada pinkett..."where she at,what's her name" REminds me of high school when your girls always had your back, lol

  • i've seen a few domestic violence movies and the common theme is the guy is always jealous/insecure and takes it out on the girl. And notice how he called her a skeezer in the studio. Why would he be with her if he thought she was a skeezer?

  • Comment removed

  • I have been waiting for this episode to play on tv forever! This was a strong episode.

  • I just realized something. During the scene when Gina and Dion were fighting, the studio indicated they were still on the air (the neon red light in the background). It's possible that some of the listeners may have spoken up about it before some of the folks on campus found out. Check from 4:30-7:06.

  • lol at Jada whats her name where she at?

  • Quit now Whitley Gilbert, you'll never be legit!!!

  • if a man hit me it would be the last time he hit anybody....lets just say that

  • The topics this show touched on were so groundbreaking, especially for that period in time. Date rape, domestic violence, AIDS....this show should be talked about in the same vein as the Cosby Show IMO. What a great era!!! I wish I was older around this time.....Fraggle Rock was more speed in the early 90's LOL.

  • this episode was huge topic when it aired my freshman year in HS, I am glad they touched on serious issues along with the comedy.

  • LOL @ Whitley "Gina, watch your purse baby."

  • What is the name of the song that Terrance is dancing to at 4:32?

  • @DaniB0626 thats what I want to know. hope someone can answer

  • very important episodee domestic violence is nhawt the wayy to be.

  • does anybody no wats da episode kalled wen kim and whitley got drunk?

  • Why is terrence dancing on a radio show where no one can SEE him?

  • DAMN!!! LMAO!!!!

  • how come thee's no theme song?! that's the best part lol

  • Does anyone know where I can purchase all 6 seasons?

  • i remember growing up watching this show and the cosby's.....Dwayne and Whitley taught me about love. and its true everlasting possibilities.

  • This is the best show.

  • one of my fav. episod this is why i love youtube

  • I remember falling in love with this show when I was younger. It was the kind of show that educated you and made you laugh at the same time, even though sometimes it got a little bit too "preachy" for my taste. However, the 90s was such a terrible decade for clothing and fashion!! All those bright colors and hideous prints. I am glad I missed out on the worst of it!!!!

  • hey does anyone know where i can watch the episode when the douch bag comes back when when gena and lena rent a house cant remember who else rents it with them but im dyin to see that one

  • I think Billy Dee Williams shows up in that episode.

  • yes!!!! he was great in that episode id love to see that one again!

  • The episode is called "College Kid".

  • This is one of the best episodes... It has a great lesson in it...Fortunately for Gina she had good friends who helped her see that a relationship where you get beat is only going to lead down a dead end road...

  • When I was younger I had the biggest crush on Ron Johnson and Terrence. Looking back on this I'm like WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKIN

  • A Different World starts tonight on TV ONE. Jan 25th.

  • lmao @ Freddie!!

  • You can tell these script writers be writing quick depending on parts. I wonder how Lena James found out how Gina Deveaux got hurt so fast without no clues.

  • This is 30 mins show, what do you expect.?

  • I expected Lena to pick up the truth and not assume. That looked mad fake of how she just said Dion's name thinking that he did that stuff to her. I'm just saying.

  • yeaa i thought tht too but at the same time it's common sense

  • lena found out about it when freddie told everyone the incident about a lady getting beat up by her boyfriend..and lena figured out that the lady was her best friend gina...when whitley notice the bruise of gina's leg. gina claimed it from a coffee table..i hope this explanation is ok

  • @APR84 You're right! Lena is smart after all. I figure things out quick just like her! +1!

  • omg srry 4 da spam but jada: "Whats ha name where she at?!" that kills me

  • i can never take freddie fa real lmao

  • Very important focus on this episode, thx for posting. :)

  • LMAO the way witley says Kimberly's name!!! haha

  • Thank you for posting this episode. It's important for young ladies to know that being abused is UNacceptable.

  • Gina's boyfriend: Damn!

*Ron walks through the door* : DAMN!

  • One of the best black shows ever, Screw "The Game" show.

  • no we may never see great shows like "a different world" ever again.

  • Can you say BULLET?

  • Exactly!

  • "I'm sweating this concert, I got my whole career riding on this"

"What if my father right, what if I am a loser?"

I guess in his world those are reasons to hit women. F**kin lowlife!!!!!!

  • There are a lot of "Ginas" in the world. Stop Domestic Violence!

  • jada is still the same size

  • I've this episode lots of times and I'm just noticing said pointing out Gina bruise she had on her leg, then her saying coffee table.

  • get freddie out of those hippie clothes and straighten her hair, put some lipstick and smooth threads on her; and she's gorgeous! i think they actually did that for a later episode...

  • ...I think she's perfect the way she is. Not everyone needs straight hair and lipstick and new clothes.

  • gina was fine! what happened to her?..i kinda' feel bad for the acxtor who played ron..i heard his career is dead in the water..i think homeboys from outer space was the gun that did it..lol...

  • ...would have slapped the stars outta that nigga...4real and Im 5'1

  • I woulda whooped that Niggas tail

  • One of my fav episodes

  • The Best Episode.

  • I got the other episode with "Billy Dee Williams and his cabin" on it, with this abusive boyfriend trying to win her back. And Billy taught her out of it.

  • please upload it i love that episode.

  • I was intending on looking for that episode after I watched this. Thanks for the info. :)

  • i was young when this show came. somebody tell what old girl meant by "i'll put you on my best friend list." I kno she wasn't talkin bout facebook cuz it wasn't around yet.

  • she meant that she would put him on her bedroom list.....

  • oh okay thanx

  • I was in her shoes at one time, when it happened in public i knew i had to go!! Never want to go back through that again!!

  • oh my gosh poor girl

  • "My name is Byron, I'm runnin' for senate, and if you vote for me, then maybe I'll win it." lol

  • @Maverick662 LOL "quit now whitley gilbert, you'll never be legit" HAHHA go mr gaines

  • mr gaines is too much.he's so funny.

  • i love terrance..HE'S SOO FUNNY and Geniuine

  • i like the begining when Ron came to talk to Jinna and Witley say "that's bull..... Jinna watch your purse baby" .....then she takes a sip of her coffee LOL

  • THIS WAS 2 REAL

  • OMG thanks for posting this. Different World has always been my favorite show.. its soo good. Post more please.

  • Not that it hasn't happened before, isn't happening now, and won't happen tomorrow- but you have to appreciate the seriousness of the writing of this show. Domestic abuse on college campuses happens, just as it happens in all facets of life (including music -hint to Rihanna and Chris Brown). MAYBE this episode needs to be forwarded to those who are too ashamed to report the abuse, as well as those you KNOW are doing the abuse!
