The question is stupid. 'Unidentified Flying Objects' are occuring in our atmsphere. 'have been to' suggests visiting, so visiting extraterrestrial crafts which is one possible expanation for UFO's.

@johnmoreland About 86% of case of UFO investigated are explainable with public knowledge. Stay 14%. 0.15% is probably interstellar object like small meteor. You also have to consider rare phenomenon that are somewhat understood, like ball lightning (look a bit like the thunder, but horizontally, sometime with some plasma around) or sprites (electronical discharge of the atmosphere). When you take off these probability, I think that we end up with mostly experiments and a 4% margin of errors.

@therrydicule How would you explain the thing the size of a house that shot out of the clouds, then did a sudden 100% turn without slowing down then shot back into the clouds that I saw? Yes, one can cherry pick statistics like you have, which makes the statistics on this subject moot - here's some I've cherry picked - Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14 concluded 69% were judged to be identified, 22% were unidentified, and 9% had insufficient information to make a determination.

Also, the Project Blue book... Well, there is some criticism on the methodology but many studies pass that give similar result. Worst/better: with time, the unidentified % and insufficient % get lowers ;)

@therrydicule OK, oval shaped bright orange thing, about the size of a 3 bedroom house or larger, solid looking regarding its body, very sharply defined edges, no sound, no storm, some thick low clouds, shot out at high speed. Once it flew out a few 100 meters or so, it instantly and sharply altered vector to head back up to the clouds, and just a moment before it reentered the clouds, it started to curve its trajectory as if it would be resuming its horizontal vector. An impossible turn.

@johnmoreland Well, if they were no fata morgana, that the condition were good... That sound a bit like some sort of elevons design, a bit like a geobat, or an XF5U or even an Hawkeye. Human machine ;) And I know such design are actually being experimented in labs of a field call magnetohydrodynamics (yeah, I know... I did have to look 5 times the spelling) and I would not be surprise that "someone" have such a thing on earth because... The technology is available in some universities.

@therrydicule It was using a propulsion system that is able to cancel out inertia - which is not in the public domain. It was traveling faster than jets Ive seen - did a right angle turn in the shape of a V (not the shape of a U) without slowing its velocity. The entire surface was glowing very bright orange, a smooth surface, it had no wings or appendages, no sound, it was nighttime but not dark, with the clouds well illuminated by my city. Can these craft you speak of cancel inertia??

@johnmoreland Well, the geobat, for instance, could appear to fly in a way that seem strange compare to any other jet (more maneuverable). Even if the propulsion could not be more traditional and that it is a RC toy that is flying, it does not really have "wings".
Now, if it have a MHD propulsion, a bit similar to the Yamato 1 (another "flying machine" that look more like a train: if it fly in L.A, that would be a UFO). It would do thing that would look a bit like that, and do it fast.

@therrydicule It was definitely not a Geobat, Ive looked at the images of Geobat, thats not what I saw, not even close. And 'Yamato 1' is a boat? I repeat, 100% silent, football shaped object, larger than a house (an Australian house), absolutely smooth curved surface, glowing evenly and intensely like hot metal over the entire surface, moving faster than a jet, doing a right angle turn. If there were people in this thing, they would have been instantly crushed by the G-forces :)

@therrydicule Magnetohydrodynamic propulsion is still Newtonian propulsion, and I don't think it has anything to do with gravity cancelation - yet! My instinct (which I cant prove or course) is that it was a manmade craft, but classified and kept from the public because putting tech like out into the violent human world would be like giving gasoline and matches to a two year old child. The reason I feel it is human is the reaction time for the turn it did - ie: "Oh shit, Ive lost cloud cover" :)

The 86% (the figure from the GEPAN study) includes all known explanations which includes meteors, ball lightning and known plasma effects. You worded your statement as if these explanations are inside the remaining 14% - but they are in fact inside the 86%. Therefore 14% remain completely unexplained. The ET hypothesis was considered viable for some cases by the heads of the GEPAN study, as with the COMETA study.

It depends on how many in the world truly know them selves and then gain the ability to tame the destructive aspects within themselves. To me it is simple to, UFO's have been in and around Earth for a very long time. With there advanced tech they could have easily detonated the nukes instead of turning them off. A possible message (not putting a violent, human spin on it) would be telling humans that war,especially with nukes, is not the answer. We are quick to assume visitors,aliens,etc are here to hurt us, lol. If that were going to happen it would have already. Time to think outside the box.

Could it be that some of these beings has been here thousands of years and in the old history was called 'Angels' by people who had contact with them? We have been visited for thousands of years, if they wanted to they could of wiped us out long ago and that still stands now as you say, but this perceived threat is been pushed by the media to encourage us to agree to a joining together under one government for security, when in truth there is no new threat, but if they can convince us there is then they can have control of us. @satreseomar I do believe in aliens, the universe is to vast to only have us humans in it. There are many old paintings and text's showing them and even cave paintings of flying vehicles, so they have been coming and going for some time now. We can only hope they are friendly cos even as one we don't stand a chance. So we humans need to get on with life as it is and not form an aggressive stance against what hopefully are friends.
