I loved this. Made me think about why the numbers with autism are increasing. I do believe in God and maybe He does know our world needs more. Our world certainly needs to learn an ability to understand others and get along and maybe He's watching for who can do that. All levels of abilities, but I do believe each and every one is here for a reason. I've worked to help, but don't live with an autistic child. Can't imagine how hard that is, but glad to see those finding the blessings.
I REALLY needed to see this today! (And IMO God knew that too...so He brought me in path with it!) Thank you for making it! I'm sorry some people can't see the beauty in it or their children!
I agree with the sentiment you imply but why did you have to add god to the equation? The effect my child has had on me in terms of changing my behaviour and thought processes has come about due to our time and interactions together. It is hard work but at the same time infinitely rewarding. I am a devout anti-theist and there is no requirement for a supernatural dictator to be involved in our lives in order to make them what they are. Natural primate care and compassion is more than enough.
@vletsskm1 I understand that she is agnostic but, I myself, am christian and like the fact that God was added into the equation because, I believe that God did make children with autism special. I understand that you may have no belief but, why is it that you have to attack someone for having used God to make a very powerful point? She didn't say anything to put down your beliefs.
@innocentinsanity1101 I hardly think I 'attacked' her. I asked the question 'why' and she answered it (because of a poem she'd read). Then I simply stated my position as to why 'I' don't need a celestial dictator in my life (not belittling her view). This is typical of 'believers'. A question is posed and all of a sudden your 'under attack'! You like she has used the reference and I don't. I'm don't feel the need to say to you 'why is it that you agree'? Keep 'your God'.
Sadly, I think this only applies to the more higher-functioning children on the spectrum. As the mother of a child with more severe limitations it actually made me feel worse!
You are right that this does not apply to all children with autism. They definately need at least an average IQ (100 and up) to function 'pretty normal'.
@fimbles101 Yes, I wrote this. I often got mails with a poem about Mothers of Autistic children. This poem states that Mothers with such children have special skills because they get such difficult children. And they cry most of the time...
Well, that poem gave me the creeps. Off course there are children who are severely handicapped and unable to make contact, but nowadays we KNOW that Autism goes around more frequently than thought so long time ago.
@fimbles101 I know it is very positive (and maybe not all true) and most people don't feel like that about Autism, but I try to see it that way. To keep progressing you got to have faith and not all this bad comments and degrading poems.
Thanks for the reply. My son is autistic and i would not change one thing about him! Might have to make a few changes to the neurotypicals like me though :)
this video made me cry because it is the truth. someone so beautiful inside and out who has Autism ( my baby girl) I want the world to know and to see how she sees things and understands them'
I liked this video, even though not every detail is true nor do I believe in any god. But it gives many good and sometimes overlooked qualities about being an autistic human being. Thanks for making this video :)
@Raidmasterprod Fire wasnt invented, its a thick gas created by heat, fuel and oxygen and is made by differant elements including: oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water vapour.
As a teenager with High Functioning autism, I would have to disagree with this video, then all the inventions that made humanity go forward could be blamed on autism. A touching idea, I know, but an unrealistic one.
Lovely ! How fortunate that you have this truth bold and clear.... this is my belief too and soon the whole world will know this too. Love u for posting this :)
'Toen God de moeders van kinderen met autisme schiep.......'' spreekt mij niet aan,het hebben van een autistisch kind is niet om te huilen, maar ......om van te houden.......deze clip gemaakt door Arinka Linders laat een positieve kant zien over autisme....
Even though I don't agree with the god slant in this, I do agree that children like ones on the Autism spectrum do have a role to play in humanity. They are as important as "normal" children. In exchange for being non social, and withdrawn, they become experts in the area that interests them intently. It is people like this that have brought us brilliant art, advances in physics, and if not for one of these people, you wouldn't be online now enjoying the internet! Great video!
Prachtig!

I would trade my ADHD and Tics for Autism/Asperger's Syndrome if I could, I'm a little jealous.

@vletsskm1 God is only in there because I made this story in reaction to a poem about God giving mothers extra capabilities. I'm agnostic myself.

In my own view, autism may not have invented important things in the past, but I defiantly see autism as a driving force in the future....

Also, I believe the 'invention' of fire came from brave humans reaching out to the results of lightning strikes.

I deeply apologize if I offended anyone, but my reaction was based on the idea that humanity as a whole does more bad for the Earth than good.

Ja dat gedicht ken ik, maar daar ben ik het dus niet zo mee eens, dat het om te huilen is. Vandaar dit wat positievere relaas over Autisme.
