Hungarians of Burgenland are mostly the descendants of 11th century frontier guards. They were under Hungarian rule until Trianon. Today there are still at least 4000 Hungarian speakers in Burgenland who are the descendants of that pre-1920 Hungarian minority. And they are quite happy to be there instead of Hungary.
