Study's have show that cetaceans are self aware meaning that they are self-conscious. They are aware of themselves as an individual or of their own being. That being said they are capable of self intended harm.
Several people here would be quick to deny that animals can commit suicide, however looking at this video myself - it seems illogical that an animal would try to escape by swimming into a wall.
Never doubt that animals, especially ones as intelligent and self-aware as cetaceans, can feel suffering, pain and anguish. We still don't know everything about these amazing animals.
I sincerely hope the people committing these atrocities see the error of their ways.
