Actually the song was a pretty solid hit,it went #30 on the US charts in 1981 but it was over-shadowed by "Hold on Loosely" which reached #3. This song certainly contributed to the album "Wild Eyed Southern Boys" becoming a gold record.
Another great song by Jim Peterik. Not only was he writing and playing in Survivor, he was moonlighting as a writer with stuff like this, "Caught Up In You" and "Hold On Loosely".
Lol, I feel lucky being able to see them, but it's really not too hard to catch a show of theirs. It seems like they tour endlessly and always play fairs and casinos. Great shows regardless.
My favorite 38 Special song! I lived in Los Angeles in 1981 and I had someone give me a copy of this album because he was there when they made it. Hold On Loosely was the one most played on radio from the album but this and Wide Eyes Southern Boys deserved more air play. Blame it on station managers. THANK YOU, YOUTUBE for allowing us to listen to this and many other great songs.

Great song, very underated, should have been a bigger hit. Written and played with so much emotion, awesome.
Agreed

.38 Special is THE greatest southern rock band EVER. Hands down. I saw them live in 1993 and 2004. Awesome both times. Cant wait to see them again.

I just saw them in SD at the State Fair in '08. Great show, other than the keyboardist doing lead, and doing a shitty job, on Second Chance.
