  • i found that shit under my pillo once i fkin freaked out

  • ::::WIKIPEDIA EVERYONE... ;)

Commonly referred to as "potato bugs," even though they do not prefer potatoes and are technically not bugs, they are also called niña de la tierra (child-of-the-earth), stone cricket or chaco. Believed by some to be fierce and poisonous, this nocturnal cricket is actually non-aggressive and possesses no poison glands, although its jaws can inflict a painful bite.

  • I thought potato bugs were like Rolly Polly bugs. We don't have those on the West coast. (Go cat, go!)

  • lol my cat caught one of these today and i didnt know what the hell it was!

  • haha..just found one in my garage!

  • thats nasty! are these things lethal?

  • Nah they're harmless.

  • wat the hell is the cat doing with the cup was it tryin to tip it ova or sumting

  • omg they are so freaking cute. i want one as a pet but idk where to get one

  • they dig in backyards...they have a painful bite but arent deadly though

  • You can find them in their greatest numbers along the western coast, from Cananda down to Mexico. They enjoy cooler, humid/moist environments and are nocturnal, so your best bet is to look for them at night. They can also be found in other areas of the United States. That's all I really know about that.

  • oh the power, yes the power, we love the power

  • Niiiiiiiiice.

    :)

  • Holy shit! Dude - so many views on this one.

    Let's do another one.

    ;)

  • this pieca.... poked me once wen i was a baby... i was about to die but thank god i didnt and now im only 12

  • that ones hella small

  • They ate Newspaper

  • lame video... ill stab you

  • Wow...that was a douche comment.

  • If you threaten them, they will bite. And it hurts.

  • They don't actually bite, they are 'munchers' and only try to burrow for protection. They pinch sometimes but it is very mild and can't break the skin.

  • i know them as niño de la tierra

  • Me too

and i heard they can kill you

  • They rarely bite and they are NOT poisonous.

  • As l already stated, there is but one true potato bug, that is the Colorado beetle which invades potato crops underground where potatoes grow, while all crickets are surface feeders, that eat the leaves and stalks of crops,a Colorado beetle to the untrained eye would pass as a strange looking lady bug but have nothing in common as a lady bug is a predator.

  • also "child of the earth" in mexico (niño de la tierra)

  • "Here are a number of folk tales regarding Jerusalem crickets which are simply untrue; first and foremost, they are not venomous. However, they can emit a foul smell and are capable of inflicting a painful bite - but neither is lethal, as some of the tales would suggest." Strait from wiki, yes they bite, no its no venomous.

  • or skull insect

  • I have had 'potato bugs' crawl on me numerous times. They are harmless and don't bite! They may pinch a bit trying to dig and hide. People so over-react out of ignorance to bugs that look strange. They are really cool creatures.

  • theres a spanish legend that those shiits kill you when they bite you(poison i guess)they are called"ninos de la tierra"

  • I fear those ugly sh1ts! I rather go up against a snake.

  • THAT CAT OF YOURS IS BRAVE! That thing could demolish its nose!

  • I love Callie!

  • These things bite like hell right?

  • Dude, hell yeah! They have bitten me and it inflicted so much pain! Theres a myth that they inject venom into you do to the pain those shits cause.

  • LOL i want to go find one and poke it now. I wonder where i should look...

  • That Id have to say that you should dig up a hole and maybe one will pop up.

  • I think they're mostly on the west coast (of the US)

  • BTW, centipede bite much harder.

  • That looks alot like a jerusalem cricket. Don't anybody fuss at me cause potato bugs do look like them.

  • You're right. Wikipedia says (can't post link) that the potato bug is another name for the Jerusalem Cricket.

  • Its true and there bites hurt like a bitch.

  • one of these was in my house i didn't know what the fuck it was, then a friend of mine said it sounded like a potato bug. i have never seen one of these before. that was the one and only time, but man that thing scard the shit out of me. thought it was some kind out mutated roach

  • Lol I saw a dead one a few days ago... I thought it was a roach...

  • It's a mole cricket

  • Its a potatoe bug..
