  • wow nick simmons got 5th?

  • Too bad there isn't a pacemaker in championship races so that Alan Webb could win a medal

  • he doesnt even look that tired

  • How can Webb not be one of the best middle distance runners ever? He's world class from 800 m to 10,000m!

  • @Averagebum2 How can he be world class from 800 to 10k when he never runs anything above 2 mile. Get your facts straight.

  • @467076 5000 m

  • @467076 you're stupid. Back in 2006 he beat Ritzenhein in a 10k. Don't be such an asshole to other people when YOU don't even have your facts straight.

  • Seb Coe - didn't he run a 1:41? Alan is still 2.5 seconds off Coe. his time here is fast, but not that fast.

  • @dagda16 well what you gotta understand is that seb was one of the worlds best.. Ever...

  • @dagda16 and its actually 2secs not 2.5 idiot

  • @dagda16 dude not many people can be world class runner at nearly every mid distance event. hes a fukin legend and no1s touching his high school record

  • @mikeylazer1 Yeah maybe in the U.S they wont touch it but if a kenyan comes he will take it like nothing.

  • @dagda16 There are only a couple guys who have come close to that. It took a genetic freak, a better track and shoes to beat it. I have a feeling that Hichams 1500m and mile, Komens 2 mile and 3,000m are going to be around for a while as well. No one really threatens them. Even Hicham couldn't beat Komens records.

  • @tadaa11 Besides Kipketer and Rudisha, there were many as close to Coe as Coe was to Rudisha's record. Gray, Cruz, Borzakovskiy... also Coe only did it once, Kipketer lots of times. Being Kenyan isn't a genetic rarity. Kenyans happen all the time. Shoes have nothing to do with it.

Hicham barely won both his record races. If Ngeny hadn't had to retire he'd own both those records by now. There'll be another Kenyan sooner or later, they want the mile WR real bad. It's the only one they never have.

  • @kozmon0t I don't know that much about the sport, but to my knowledge only 3-4 guys have run 1:41. Coe's record was, given the conditions, are much better than the time showed. Shoes and tracks have drastically changed since he was running. You cant possible be saying you would rather try and set a PR on Coe's track/ shoes combo vs todays track and spikes? I don't care where they are from, Rudisha/ Coe are genetic freaks.

  • @tadaa11 All running shoes are a cheap substitute for your own feet, that's one reason why the Kenyans are so good, they grow up not using them. But today's spikes aren't any better than 1980's spikes, no matter what Nike says. They might make a difference of 0.01 seconds.

I've run on Hayward Field many times, probably the most expensive track in the US, and it's crap. A high-tech synthetic rubbery surface that's sposed to be faster. It's not. Faster people run there, is all.

  • @kozmon0t Learning to run bare foot is incredibly beneficial. It increases flexibility and strength in the ankles, creating a larger stride angle. I did it for 6 months every time I ran, but now i only do it once a week because of a snowboarding accident. Coe ran his world record on a Dirt/Clay track.

  • @tadaa11 yes, I know, I've run barefoot a year and a half.

Dirt and clay are great surfaces. Eamonn Coughlain was fastest on wood, maybe Coe was adapted to dirt and clay.

  • @kozmon0t Its all about traction. I can't imagine Bolt running 9.58 on a dirt track. In the 5k it probably doesn't matter to much, but as races get shorter and faster, traction becomes more important. Coes record in the 800 is about 18mph. Wood sounds fast, as long as its dry.

  • @tadaa11 traction is a factor, but for 400m + , form gets more important. Track surface affects form. Some runners do good on space-age tracks, some don't. I always hated them. They feel sticky, like someone unrolled a huge roll of tape into an oval, sticky side up.

  • whoa.

  • The COMMENTS on HERE are so RIDICULOUS that THEY are MAKING me LAUGH. DumbASSES. Go Alan Webb!

  • wow, you guys are having the dumbest conversation i have ever read, which is somewhat amusing to me. regardless, still a pointless argument.

  • good use of sarcasm buddy

  • How can you call it a cheap win. There was nothing holding anyone back, they don't have excuses when the gun goes off. Alan Webb won fair and square, don't even try taking that from him.

  • dhcartier1... Your a freaking RETARD! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Training harder is what it's all about! If Reed has more Natural Talent then he should train harder to show that! Until he does shut the hell up and enjoy watching him lose to the people who are working hard for their wins.

  • No pyroboy7197, YOU'RE the RETARD! My WHOLE POINT is that Gary Reed has way more NATURAL TALENT than Webb, so this win DOESN"T MEAN that Webb is better. Webb may be pretty good, but he isn't a NATURAL ATHLETE like Reed. And Reed is at an UNFAIR DISADVANTAGE because he lives in CANADA and there aren't many good runners there to run against. Webb on the other hand lives in AMERICA so he has lots more good people to run against. So ANYONE who thinks this race means WEBB IS BETTER is a RETARD!

  • Lol, explain how Webb doesn't have natural talent. He was originally a swimmer.

Reed living in Canada isn't a legit excuse, it's a bullshit excuse.

It doesn't matter anyway because Webb just did this 1:43 800. How does he not have natural talent when he's a sub 14 minute 5k runner, and he can still do the 800? He's multi talented, I definitely say Webb is better than Reed.

  • Reed was originally a LONG JUMPER (he jumped over 7 meters in high school) and DECATHLETE before switching to the 800. Webb was probably a CRAPPY swimmer which is why he SWITCHED to LONG DISTANCE!

Reed living in CANADA isa LEGIT explanation. He doesn't have many GOOD RUNNERS there to COMPETE AGAINST. He holds the CANADIAN RECORD so there aren't any CANADIANS to push him. Webb is more than 1.2 SECS off the AMERICAN RECORD and has SYMMONDS to PUSH HIM, so that's an UNFAIR ADVANTAGE.

  • Hahaha, no It's a pussy explanation. Especially considering that he has been to the championships, that takes intense training. He has raced Americans LOL! I also explained how Webb has talent, so drop that. Gary Reed also competes all around the world bro. It's not like Reed went up against dudes who couldn't even break 5 minutes. Did you not know that he competed in the world championships? So how is that a legit excuse when he is a professional athlete? This isn't high school kid, grow up.

  • It doesn't matter if Reed SOMETIMES runs against international guys. He still DOESN'T HAVE a lot of guys in his HOME COUNTRY to TRAIN WITH or RUN AGAINST. All he's got to run with are POLAR BEARS and CARIBOU! If he were in America and had INCENTIVE to run FASTER, he'd have the AMERICAN RECORD too! And I bet Reed could break 13 in the 5K if he TRAINED for it, TOO, which Webb couldn't even WISH FOR! Since Reed could break 45 in the QUARTER if he tried, slowing to 62 a lap is NOTHING for him.

  • Reed has professional training because he is a professional athlete. He runs against international guys more than he runs against his local Canadian friends. He goes to HUGE meets, not the local road races that you're trying to claim. He has the money to afford this. Olympic caliber athletes are supposed to perform at their best and with the best. Canada is right next door to America anyway. He's raced Alan Webb already, so he has raced against tough competition. Your excuses are lame.

  • these are all "what if's" which u dont know are possible and u dont know if they are possible for webb either. Stop making excuses

  • I'm NOT making excuses. I'd like one person here to TRY to the PROVE that Webb has more NATURAL TALENT or LEG SPEED than Gary Reed. Oh, and Reed is WAY WAY better looking than Webb, too. Maybe irrelevant to running, but yet ANOTHER WAY that Reed is SUPERIOR to Webb!

  • So if reed is so much more superior why did webb beat him in this race. And in your responce don't use any excuses...

  • dchartier1 is a CRACK addict. you KNOW this, RIGHT?

  • He's a fucking retard. He must fancy gary reed

  • I know. All this horseshit spewing off and 1. Webb wins the race at 2. not Webb's natural distance. This would be a "shut the fuck up" moment if ever there was one. There's no accounting for YouTube idiocy, which is why I thought you neednt be bothering.

  • Reed is a better LONG JUMPER than Webb. Reed is better at the 400. Reed is better at the 800. He lost ONE RACE to Webb because Webb TRAINED HARDER that year. Those are the FACTS! Ergo, Reed has more NATURAL TALENT than Webb.

I don't know WHY all your guys are SUCKING WEBB'S PUNY C*CK (which, by the way, I'm sure Reed is SUPERIOR to Webb in, as well!) and DEFENDING HIM when it's SO CLEAR that he's INFERIOR to Webb. Can you answer me THAT? PRETTY PLEASE?

  • No, YOU'RE the RETARD. You have NO arguments or facts to BACK UP your position. Maybe YOU want to be Alan Webb's BITCH! Ever think of THAT? Hahahahahaha!

  • I never said i did have any evidence because i never made any claims unlike you who is making all the claims but has no evidence.... And no i'm not gay i don't know about your sexuality anyway there is a definite question mark on it....

  • If you're going to DISPUTE me, you need to BACK IT UP.

    I hear you're a trisexual -- you'll TRY anything! Hahahahaha!

  • I'm not going to argue with such an idiot such as yourself. You really are a freak and a weirdo. I do feel sorry for you as your just such a weirdo like! I mean there must be somthing wrong with a person to sit and reply to all these comments like argueing that reed's better than webb when he just got smoked by webb at a distance webb doesn't run and then start stating if reed trained for 5k and 1500 he would win them when you could say this about anything!!

  • First, Reed wasn't SMOKED by Webb. He lost by LESS than 0.2 of a SECOND! And he BARELY beat Reed in the LAST COUPLE METERS. So that's NOT being SMOKED!!!

Second, this was the year Webb was AT HIS BEST with his mile AR and 1500 PR. He was TRAINING INCREDIBLY HARD that year, MORE than Reed.

And you CAN'T SAY that anyone would win at 1500 or 5000 if he TRAINED! If I trained my ASS OFF, I couldn't beat Webb or Reed at those distances. And NEITHER could you. So DON'T exaggerate!

  • So who do you know that knows reed and webb both personaly that has shown you their training sessions and times that somehow shows you webb trained harder for that year and reed didn't. Just sounds like an excuse for webb beating reed at his distance. And when i said anyone i meant professional runners. And when you said i couldn't you shouldn't because you don't know me.

  • Like I'm going to tell YOU who MY sources are! Let's just say I KNOW people with INTIMATE knowledge of this...

You DIDN'T SAY professional runners, you said "ANYTHING" (i.e., anyone). Don't MAKE UP excuses NOW! And you couldn't say this about ANY professional runner, anyway. For example, there's NO WAY that Dathan Ritzenhein could beat Webb or Reed in the 800 -- he DOESN'T HAVE THE LEG SPEED!

And I don't PRETEND you could beat Webb or Reed. Or else give your NAME amd PRs (with races)!

  • Maybe YOU'RE the CRACK ADDICT! Ever think of THAT?

  • No. I never did think of that.

What vitamin are you lacking? You've clearly completely lost your mind.

  • This guy is a complete idiot. He seriously has lost his mind. I think someone should contact gary reed about this crazy person and warm him he has someone who is mentally ill and is obsessed with him! I mean seriously he's starting to worry me how right he thinks he is and how he has no evidence or anything and just keeps argueing stupidly!

  • That's a SAD and CHEAP way to try to REFUTE my very SOUND arguments. No wonder you're IN LOVE with Webb so MUCH!

  • I completely agree with you. I think Reed needs to be notified of this wacko. This goes beyond being a fan. This is weirdly obsessive. What a nut.

  • Racketer, DON'T start creating FAKE ACCOUNTS to back yourself up. That's WACKO. What a NUT!

  • Even a child with basic reading and social skills could determine that Racketer and I aren't even from the same country.

    So what's your excuse?

  • NICE try, racketer! It's easy to MAKE UP A FAKE LIFE on the Internet.

  • Ok, Gary Reed!

  • Ha, I WISH I was as talented, fast, famous, and good looking as Gary Reed! But unfortunately, there is ONLY ONE Gary Reed. Nice try, racekter!

  • Nice try, Gary Reed!

  • What OTHER accounts are you going to open, RACKETER?

  • A dchartier1 one, Gary Reed!

  • Ha, SO clever. I FORGOT to laugh, RACKETER!

  • You are seriously a crazed wacko. You actually scare me how you go on. And i know rightly you dont know anybody who knows both webb abd reed's training sessiona and their heart rates and all the other data. You know fuck all. Your just a crazy weirdo stalker person on the internet mouthing of

  • So you WON'T give your NAME or PRs to prove me WRONG! Ha, I KNEW it!

If you don't want to believe that I KNOW people, so be it. But I KNOW that I have INSIDER INFORMATION on this, whereas you know SQUAT!

Other than THAT, you haven't REBUTTED ANYTHING I said last, so I'm taking that to be your CONCESSION that I'm RIGHT. Just shows that you know NOTHING about TRACK AND FIELD.

Call me CRAZY. I'm not true, and JUST SHOWS what a LOSER you truly are!

  • This fool really thinks that we are the same person... I think im going to tell the mental hospital down the road from me about him. They might be able to help him

  • Dear Racketer/Decadyne,

You call ME crazy, but YOU'RE the ONE who's TALKING TO HIMSELF!

    Love,

    Me

  • I know. I think this is the same person who thinks I am Ato Boldon, lololol. You just can't overestimate the fucking nutters on YouTube. I honestly think someone should notify Canada's team.

  • I KNOW you're not Ato Boldon, DON'T PRETEND TO BE! You're PROBABLY some CRAZED PEDOPHILE trolling the Internet for YOUNG BOYS. Come on, ADMIT IT! We all KNOW it's true!

  • {koo-koo!}

    {koo-koo!}

Who do you know in athletics? You keep saying you know people. Who do you know?

  • Wilson Kipketer, for ONE, Racketer!

  • if you want to think I'm racketer, fine by me. it only makes you look like a total imbecile with a loose grasp on reality.

i don't believe you know wlson kipketer. prove it, or rest it.

  • And HOW would you like ME to PROVE it? Huh, Racketer?

    MORON!

  • You don't know Wilson Kipketer. It's obvious to everyone reading this post. Does Wilson know your obsession with yourself, Gary Reed?

Why DO YOU type LIKE THIS?

Have a great day, Gary Reed!

  • Believe what YOU will! There's OBVIOUSLY no convincing you, since you're KOO-KOO! I bet you DON'T EVEN KNOW who Wilson Kipketer IS!

And I TYPE LIKE THIS to EMPHASIZE the IMPORTANT points! It's that OBVIOUS?

  • I do not know what you mean by "It's that OBVIOUS?" Explain.

I know who Wilson Kipketer is; he's your imaginary friend. Isn't that obvious?

Who else are you friends with? Let me guess: NELSON MANDELA and MOSES KIPTANUI and SANTA CLAUS?

  • It should be OBVIOUS why SOME words are in ALL-CAP, Racketer!

How do YOU know that I DON'T know Wilson Kipketer? YOU don't KNOW me. And I DO KNOW the current 800m WR holder! He and I happen to be on very INTIMATE terms!

You're probably just an OLD, BITTER, HAS-BEEN RUNNER who's JEALOUS that someone else KNOWS MORE about track than you. Isn't THAT true? HUH?

  • ...

    -uh, ok.

    -uh, sure.

    -uh, no.

-definitely, positively no way, ever, in a zillion lifetimes.

  • @dchartier1 your POSTS are ANNOYING. Stop TYPING like THIS.

  • @dchartier1 your POSTS are ANNOYING. Stop TYPING like THIS.

  • @agentkro

TRY to MAKE me! It's a FREE WORLD!

  • The SAME reason I've been giving: because Webb TRAINS HARDER. And that's NOT an excuse. It's an EXPLANATION!

  • You have no idea how hard he trains or how hard gary reed trains. Do you watch them train everyday?

  • I know better than YOU!!! I KNOW people!

  • Your such a freak i feel sorry for you

  • And i know you don't know anybody who knows both webb and reed peronsally and knows their training and informs you of it. Your a nobody....

  • At LEAST I can SPELL! ("your") And if only you KNEW who I KNOW! You'd shut up then!

  • Attacking my spelling isn't going to help prove yor point. Right i'll make this short and simple. Gary Reed vs Alan Webb. 1nil to alan and 0 to reed. Reed got beat at his distance by webb who doesn't do the distance. They have raced once. Webb won. Webb is the better runner going by races which is the only evidence we have aside from p.b's which as shown in many olympic's don't mean your going to win the race as usualy the person with the best p.b doesn't win.

  • Oh, how CONVENIENT. You DISCOUNT the most IMPORTANT data point -- their PRs! The fact is, Reed has BETTER PRs at 400 and 800 meters. And he's VERSATILE since he used to be a LONG JUMPER and DECATHLETE. Hence, Reed RULEZ, Webb DROOLS!

And what EVIDENCE do you have the BETTER PRs make it LESS LIKELY that you'll WIN? Think MICHAEL JOHNSON? Think SEBASTIAN COE (at 1500)? Think CARL LEWIS (forget that CHEATER Ben Johnson)? Think NOUREDDINE MORCELI?

What do you have to say to THAT, huh?

  • Also, Reed has more NATURAL TALENT than Webb. His stride is SMOOTHER, he has more 400 meter LEG SPEED, and he has a BETTER 800 meter PR despite TRAINING LESS. And if Reed REALLY WANTED to run the MILE, he could EASILY beat Webb. So who do you think is BETTER now, huh?

  • hahahaha, that was a pansy excuse with lack of evidence. Webb would still beat Reed. Webb has run distance times that Reed could only dream of. Webb's 800 time is right there next to Reed's, with much more endurance than Reed. Argue 400 and 200 speed all you want, but Webb is easily the stronger runner. Your bitterness is the proof as well, because you're slobbering all over Reed's asshole and saying "EASILY" beat Webb in the mile.... even though Webb clutched the American record.

  • And WHAT has Webb done SINCE his AR? Huh?

Argue all you want, but just looking at RUNNING STYLE you can tell from Reed's GRACE and POISE that he's more NATURALLY TALENTED. Webb only has more ENDURANCE because he TRAINS HARDER. If Reed trained like THAT, he'd be done to a 3:44! Webb wil NEVER do that!

  • Lol, wrong. Reed gets Olympic training. Argue about the hypothetical nonsense all you want. Nobody cares what you BET Reed could do, that's just like saying I could bench press 500 pounds if trained for it

Fact is, Webb has done low 13 minute 5ks and his 800 time is right on Reed. What are you trying to prove on natural talent? Webb is the more versatile runner and it shows

Give evidence of what Reed has DONE, not what he COULD do. None of that "Reed could do a 3:30 mile if he trained."

  • Also, Webb's 5K time is an UNFAIR COMPARISON because Webb trains like a DISTANCE RUNNER. Reed is like KIPKETER, and is and trains like a pure MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER, so he doesn't have the long distance STAMINA. But if he wanted, he could train LONGER, slow things down, and MOVE UP to the long distances. And then he'd leave Webb with his SHORT STUBBY LEGS in the DUST.

REED has more VERSATILITY since he was a great DECATHLETE and LONG JUMPER. I bet Webb couldn't jump 21 feet if he tried!

  • LOL jumping 21 feet is high school shit

Thus, Webb trains like a mid-distance runner because he is a mid distance runner. A 5k is a mid-distance event; it's not that long of a race. What is your logic based upon? You're saying the same thing over, and over. No excuses, I want proof of what Reed has done.

Webb does the same 800, with more endurance. How would Reed leave Webb in the dust? Webb even beat Lagat.

Oh btw, Webb was trained by a high school coach. He's a pure mid distance runner.

  • The 5K is NOT middle distance! Reed is a PURE 800 guy, like KIPKETER or CRUZ. Webb is a DISTANCE guy who FOCUSES on the mile and OCCASIONALLY goes down to the 800. It's EASIER to MOVE UP to longer distances than VICE VERSA. With Reed's INCREDIBLE speed, he could MOVE UP to the 1500 and do WELL. You say that Webb has more STRENGTH; well Reed has more SPEED and still has a BETTER 800 PR than Webb. Maybe Reed just feels like HAVING A LIFE rather than training ALL THE TIME like Webb!

  • That comment about having a life is just stupid. But who knows? That might be why Webb is better

800 through 5k is mid distance, and the 1500 definitely is mid distance. You're obviously in high school. I'll go with your logic though, so Webb is NOT a mid distance guy, though he can still run the same 800 time as Reed? LOL!!!!

Strength is what's more important, especially when you already have speed. Webb has just as much speed, and he outlasted everyone on this race. Webb is pure mid distance

  • How is it easier to move up than to move down? Maybe on terms of being an average joe, because anyone can do a 16 minute 5k. Though not on terms of Olympic caliber, because endurance is harder to hold onto than speed

Alan Webb has endurance and speed, so your points also aren't valid. Not only are you still on the hypothetical issue, but Webb is a fast 800 runner and neither of the two are moving down from the 800

Reed doesn't have what you're trying to describe, though Webb does have it.

  • Also, it's already proof that you're full of shit because you claim that Reed would be victorious over Webb IF he did the mile and 5k. Webb has more versatility due to the fact that he's a pure mid distance runner with more endurance than what Reed has. He has speed and strength that he's already trained for. Who cares what Reed would do IF he trained for it?

How would Reed leave Webb in the DUST in the mile and 5k, even though Webb has more endurance with the same 800 time?

  • You do not know very much about running, nor track and field. You're entitled to your opinion, but you sound downright silly and if I were you I wouldn't work so hard to make my ignorance public.

  • No, YOU don't know MUCH about track! I know ENOUGH to know that this was a CHEAP WIN by Webb who has PATHETIC leg speed and gets by with HARD WORK, which is ADMIRABLE, but doesn't compare to Reed's NATURAL TALENT. I'm telling you, put Webb in a race against COE or KIPKETER or CRUZ and he'd be SMOKED so bad it WOULDN'T BE FUNNY! Webb should move up to the 5000 or even the 10000 if he wants to HAVE A CHANCE to be big on the INTERNATIONAL SCENE. Hahahahaha!

  • I could say that about any number of runners if they trained for a certain event they could dominate it. All you are saying is "what if's" and all you have to back this up is your own opinion. Sure whos to say any other of the top 800m runners who have more medals than reed could have dominated the 1500m. Yes some could have but we'll never know as they didn't do it like reed hasn't. So all you are basing your evidence on is your own opinion. END OF

  • I'm NOT giving WHAT IFS! I don't know WHY you think that. Are you INSANE?

So how about THIS. Reed has run a 46.4 400. That takes NATURAL TALENT and GREAT LEG SPEED. How fast can WEBB run the 400? Maybe he can BREAK 48 if he had the GUTS to try? That's why Reed is SUPERIOR in the 800. Plus. Reed has a BETTER PR in the 800 than Webb despite NOT training as hard.

  • How do you even know how hard either of the athletes train! You don't know either of them personally at all or exactly what training they do and what they dont do!

  • @dchartier1 God your stupid. You're annoying... and a Troll. Nuff Said.

  • @dchartier1 if this was just a natural talent contest and ppl didnt work at all at it then the best time would be like 8 min

  • I am a fetus and I run a 2 second 800m,

  • i can run a 1:42 800 and im 5 years old

    is that good?

  • That is a decent time for a 5 year old but I am 3 and just broke 1:40.

  • mm i've heard of you two.. very impressive.

  • wow. do you think i will be able to race you? im 164 years old but just got a pr of 1:34.

  • Ha, look at 1:11! Webb looks so funny pounding away on those short, stubby legs! I can't believe he can run so fast. Gary Reed, on the other hand, looks so smooth and like a gazelle. Too bad Reed lost...

  • 1:43s, wow. Webb's best result ever?

  • ok seriously nobody comes on here to watch you guys brag about you times they come here to watch the videos.

  • well he never really had much of a kick from the beginning that hur him a lot

  • Its incredible to watch Alan Webb in this video and like any race since Osaka, he has completely lost his kick!

  • creo q web es un excelente corredor de 1.500Mts pero sin duda ha mostrado mejores condiciones en la milla!!!

    saludo!!!

    Fuerza atletismo sudamericano!!!

  • I'll bet the rabits could do really awesome if they ever finished the raced. Seriously, they run fro 600-700 meters in the 800 and then they just drop out! I'll bet that they could most definately run very solid times if they did finish.

  • of course they can...they don't just let anyone rabit a race

  • The rabits are very talented, but they are also completely exhausted when they drop out...

  • they're 400m runners, 800 is just too long for them to run at that pace.

  • Ever see Tom Byers rabbit a race? Won....Ovett and the rest did not take Byers seriously or got distracted. Rabbits can take a race if the others are either foolish or outclassed.

  • its rarely seen though, i've seen a rabit try to win the race but he died and finished 3rd or 4th

  • Amazeing how all theese top class runners can run amazeing times, PR's, almost world record, and world records, and ffinish the race and look like they just came off a warm up.

  • I know, look at webb's face, he isnt red or anthing, he is just barely tired and breathing out of his mouth like it was nothing

  • Why is it that all of Webb's good races look like they're taking place at a high-school dual meet with 65 people in attendance?

Put him in a stadium with 100,000 screaming fans and a World Championship on the line, and he'll fold like a house of cards.

  • Pretty sweet, thats my man alan webb, maybe someday I might challenge him

  • damn crazy fast my pr is only 2 02 im a sophmore i think it is decent.. mile 4.34

  • haha your pretty slow

  • I run 1:52 and 4:13 and I'm a sophmore

  • if your running that fast in the 800 then your 1500 should be alot quicker, like under 4:00 minutes, unless your just focusing on the 800 in training

  • I know, but I don't know how much improvement I have left, I'm pretty much full grown right now

  • 1:52 does not mean you should be under 4:00, more like 1:48- 1:47 - and even then under 4:00 is a big if - and even unlikely

  • orite then mate

  • he's talking about the 1500 and I assume you're talking about the mile?

  • That's completely wrong, unless you're talking about the mile and not the 1500. For a typical 18 year-old md runner, a sub-4 1500 equates to about a 1:56/1:57 800. Of course, there are exceptions, depending on if the runner is more speed-oriented or more distance-oriented (the former will have a faster 800 and a slower 1500 relative to the latter).

  • average mile time for a highschooler should be 4:40-5:20. good runner run 4:40 and great runners sub 4:20, in my opinion at least

  • agreed

  • i wasnt good at all, i could just barely break 6 tho in the 800 i was in the mid 2:30s which is somewhat respectable, to me at least.

  • i'm in 8th grade and ran a 2:31... my buddy won the conference championship 2:22

  • i didnt run in middle school, but we had 4 guys 2:15 and under, fastest at 2:08. but the middle school record in my state, florida, is 2:00..sick.

  • I'm a freshman in highschool 4:44 mile

  • Yes it is. A 4:50 will let you finish top 3 in almost every middle school race you compete against (with some exceptions). The fastest middle school times in states like TX are typically 4:35-4:45 range.

  • Why do people come on youtube saying things like that? That is definitely a blunt statement trying to impress people you'll never meet.

  • bull shit

  • agreed.

  • erm my pr is like 2:11 lol im bad

  • I'm [blank] years old and can run a [blank].

  • jeremy can not do the half but damn that is a fast time much better then my 2:02

  • he'll be in the 08 olympics right

  • What is obvious about what I have stated, please elaborate.

  • Webb did not do well in the 2007 worlds.

  • ummm....way to state the obvious. webb had a cold at that time and probably was slightly past peak

  • If symmonds would actually start out well he might be able to hit a time he's capable of. This sit and kick crap isn't the way to run an 800

  • webb doesn't even run the 800 usually

  • jeremy wariner should run the 800

  • He'd get rolled up.

  • and smoked

  • Wilson Kipketer 1:41.11 now thats fast

  • he is faster than Nick Symmonds and he is not even an 800m runner

    thats impressive

  • Rubbish!

Seb Coe was a lot better!

Go Coe! Go Coe! Go Coe!

  • Coe vs Webb...hmmmm...that would be a matchup. Coe better? Ask Webb...

  • Coe beter?! LOL. Do you REALLY need to ask? 1.41 ring a bell?! LOL!

GO COE! GO COE! GO COE!

  • coe was probably a better 800 runner, but Webb is much more versatile

  • Probably?!!! LOL! You need to do some homework on athletics history.

  • mxmccoy--Much more versatile than Coe??? What? Coe won back to back Olympic 1500s. He owned the 800, 1000, and 1500 WR all in the same year. His 800 and 1000 WR lasted 16 years. I could go on and on.

  • Coe could run a 45.8 for 400 meters--that speed would be tough for Webb to deal with at any distance below 1-mile. Coe's only competition would be Kipketer and Joaquim Cruz at 800 and El-Girrouj would whip Coe's ass in the mile.

  • El-Girrouj kicks everyones ass in the mile

  • if only he would run like this when it matters

  • Honestly he isn't doping. He's been that good since highschool. Gold in 2008!!!
