Yes and no. Shinji starts out mostly the same. But thanks to a better pacing of the angst in the movies and some genuinely happy moments for him, he seems much more stable. Still kinda whinny, still kinda emo but no where near as often.

i still need to see it i have seen the cam rip which was okay, better than nothing but prefer the actual version. what was awesome was unit 2 in the beast mode. and what was shocking is that mari used unit 2 and asuka was put in unit 3, the one that unit 1 owns and destroys the plug. dont worry she lived just injured

It's quite an amazing thing: Asuka and Rei were already complete Oposites/ perfect foils/contrast to each other, and they still managed to insert a third character to be completely different from both of them. I always thought the cast of the original "Evangelion" was perfect, but after seing Rebuild, I can't help but to notice how much it lacked a simple, quirky yet bestial pilot like Mari.

@realdomdom Its...different. a new Eva pilot appears (Mari Illustrious Makinami), Aska gets hurt in the Unit-03 incident instead of Toji, which makes Shinji grow a backbone and try to give Gendo what's coming to him, and Kaworu shows up early, and implies that he remembers what happened in the TV series (or he somehow got into the real world and stole a copy of the script from Gainax).

It's a rebuild of the TV series with new things.Except 2.0 strays from the original story a lot unlike 1.0 where it pretty much a redo of the first 6 episodes.You have to watch both to know what I mean.

There is a very good reason for it. Not to spoil too much of the movie for you...but instead of Toji piloting Unit 03 when it comes under the control of Bardiel, it's Asuka who is piloting it. We all remember how nicely that turned out.

My theory is that the Rebuild films are a time loop, Shinji is reliving the last months of his life.

Things are different this time around, very.

I believe the new Evas glow-in-the-dark evas we see in rebuild, are not the real evas from NGE, but imposters.

So, Eva 02 has white strips in is body because it is actually a rebuilt mass produced Eva from EoE.

Off course it's only a fan theory, but if I'm correct, I will face-palm.

Yeah 1.0 is the first movie, 2.0 is the 2nd, etc.

So far only the first one has come out. No you can't find it on Youtube since they're taken down. You can go torrent it though.

Yeah they're actually remaking the whole series, it's not like they're using the same footage with some new scenes. And the new animations are AWESOME. The animation quality is just amazing :)

Rebuild of Evangelion is a remake of the series, since the original series was high effected due to budget constraints and a period of depression the creator went through, both of which altered most of the direction of the show's story and such.

So if you're a Eva fan you might want to check this out :) This is the trailer for the second movie, the first movie is Rebuild 1.0
