I think you opinion is very well stated and articulate. I enjoyed reading it. However, I disagree. I think the most responsible thing a member of a western democracy can do is have between 6-10 children. There is an over abundance of food and most world famines are grounded in political disputes.
Human advancement will require a vast population - far exceeding our current paltry 6 billion. Malthus already made your argument and he was wrong.
I hope to have 4 kids by 32... ~ 10 by 70.
