  • As much as any conflict that we can understand and remember, WWII came down to a battle of personalities. Churchill was a man - THE man, a human, of all time to balance the evil of the lowest, criminal persona in written history.

  • I am an Englishman whose father was a bomber pilot in WW2. He trained as a pilot in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1942/43. He said Britain owed Canada a great deal. They fought with us for the entire 6 years of the war in all services and were brave men.

  • The life of Lord Moran, Churchill's personal physician makes for great reading.

  • It is nice to see that we Canadians were trying to support Churchill as much as possible. The fact that Churchill received so many gifts at a time when rationing was taking place proves how much we loved & supported him. I had no idea that he had had an illness (he had a lot of the risk factors including a long & very stressful war). It is amazing that he was able to do as well as he did with such a serious health concern; it makes us appreciate him even more.

  • @ILoveTeaDogs In the end Canadian troops ended up liberating large parts of Europe. Including my home city of Groningen in the Netherlands. That is still remebered thankfully overhere.

  • @Popperite As well as Winschoten, my home town. A lot of squares, streets are named after our liberators

  • @Rens1989 Being from Groningen I know Winschoten of course! :)

  • @ILoveTeaDogs I do so hope that England and Canada will forever be united in the Commonwealth and under the Crown. It has been a wonderful partnership!
