I recently purchased around two of Anderson's films, Rushmore and The Life Aquatic, and i loved them both. I recently saw Darjeeling and i loved it more the second than as opposed to the first.

Anderson's film have a deep emotion chord as well as funny but sort of innocent in the way they are filmed. Robert Yeoman's cinematography is amazing in all of Anderson's films. Im definitely a fan.

I was amazed to see pics of a new Wes Anderson Ad with Brad Pitt working on a beach. It looks like a home made comic film someone had put on YOUTUBE called BRAD PITT IS DONKEY DICK. I cant find it now but Brad was a donkey-ride attendant at the seaside with lots of other similar features. UNCANNY. I can't wait to see the new ad to compare it to the original YOUTUBE film. Maybe thats why his films have a nieve quality cos he gets his ideas from YOUTUBE films. I wonder youtube keep deleted films.

schwartzman outshined brody in this film, no small feat. very impressive, he is a force. looked eerily like tom cruise at times though, could be angles/lighting/short stature.

That movie would have been good if

A. It was the first Wes Anderson movie - not a copy of every other one he has done. and,

B.  It was owen Wilson's first movie - not the 20th one where he plays the same character

If I could sum up this movie with one word it would be

"Pretentious"

"Condescendingly Pretentious"

i wouldn't call it the greatest, but i enjoyed it. i thought it was different, and owen wilson is good as that character. when he is in that character he is actually allowing himself to improv more which he is good at. i agree with you that all these people calling it the greatest thing ever is a little out of whack, at least that's the impression i got from your comment.

Dont get me wrong. I was a huge fan of Wes Anderson when bottlerockets came out. I appreciated the fact that it was one of the first commercially available independent films that didnt suck. So dont think I am bashing him or his directing style. Like I said before, The Life Aquatic is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I've seen The River and the Apu Trilogy, they're united by their humanism. So Anderson maybe is emerging as more of a humanist with Darjeeling, whereas his previous films had a wicked sense of humour, a mean-spiritdness even at times. Anyways, looking forward to Darjeeling. That and "I'm not There".

Hard to say if it's better than Life Aquatic or Royal Tenenbaums, but it's definitely a great work.

The short movie that precedes it is also excellent - Natalie Portman is astonishingly beautiful (and when she isn't?).

But I'm afraid the short movie will not be included when The Darjeeling Limited is released.
