i know im seriously late but i just found your vids again.but heh i cracked up laughing when you talked about the misquitoe(sp?)All I could think of was that would so be me..heh i remmember one time um i walked into tops and after a while of shoping like 5-10 minutes i had a feeling that i should turn to my righ.I looked down. And there was ths big mispuitoe it had to be like an inch or 2 tall.I flung it off onto the floor it scared the crap out of me.I felt embarassed case i did a scream gasp.
Aloha. I somehow caught your video on the cucumber pepsi thru another link and luv your occassional video journals. I live in Hawaii and somertimes see the Japanese tourists wearing kimonos and yukatas. I too luv the sound of the wooden sandals. It sounds like hard rain. I tried the yukata once and they hurt my feet so bad. I woulda enjoyed seeing that mosquito video and the noise that could of came out of your mouth...but i guess visualizing it would be just as good.
It was great. And what is really nice about monasteries is you don't have to be religious to benefit from them. Of course, it does help, but anyone can go to a monastery and all people are welcome. They are great refuges from the city!
That reminded me of the time I "discovered" geta and mentioned them to an American friend of mine. She told me about the time that she declined to wear geta and regretted it. It was in the 1960s and people commonly wore them, she said. She went out one day in spring/winter with her Japanese friends. They all wore geta and although they offered her a pair to wear she preferred to stick with sneakers. It didn't take long for her feet to get wet and cold, but her friends had dry feet all day.

Oh and cody, send me those geta clogs! Ive been looking for a good pair for ages now!! I just love the sound they make! But anyway mr cruise, i hope your feet get better.
Someone's at the door (during the end of the video)! :O Like a Japanese horror movie!
By the way, I've read that a lot of Americans look like famous American actors to the Japanese, for the same reason a lot of "Westerners" think all East-Asian people look the same.
The person at the door was actually a motorcycle!! The front of this apartment complex has a little gate, and so that man brings his motorcycle in each night. It is pretty funny to see it on video like that!
haha! great vid once again! I can't wait to wear 'wooden' shoes and a Yukata! You should show your reaction to the mosquito!!! haha you make it sound so tempting.. or whatever ^_^ haha Tom Cruise!? Nani!? lmao!
Yeah, it's pretty crazy. When I had longer hair, I was told I look like Matthew Mcconaughey! Who knows. And I still think the mosquito thing is too embarrassing...funny, but embarrassing!

Nice to see you get to see so many fireworks. Megan really loved them at Disney World.

I've got even more on video now from the monastery trip, too! The Japanese LOVE their fireworks!

I am not a very religious person, but the idea of a few days at a monestery to think, reflect, and center, sounds like heaven. Have a good time!

Haha! They can be terrible if you're not used to them, but they have their advantages. And I must say, they are not good for running in...

Thanks! I can actually walk now without wincing. The geta are generally easy to find here; lots of people wear them as everyday shoes!
