We use Polini Variators and Polini 180 belts, Malossi Blue clutch springs and the standard 125 clutch bell and clutch but we have the clutch linings removed and replaced with a Kevlar material by a specialist brake relining company.
The gearing is a mix of standard and Malossi gearing from all the range of the Piaggio engines depending on what the conditions are on the day and the results we want (top speed or elapsed time).
When I was younger we use to modify the 1985 Honda spree and the Honda 87 Elite mopeds...90 MPH was common on a big bore 2 stroke...lol wheelie machine!
They are running at 172cc, Dave the rider of the Red one weighs 10 stone/140lbs in leathers.I ride the Blue one and weigh 14stone/196lbs in leathers and have managed 12.1 sec at 108.5mph on the last run this year and hope to be in the 11`s next year with some new developments.
Those are some good times You should check out my site motorscooter .eahostersdotcom all about motorscotoers bikes, and many other things like taht. Tell everyone else about it!
The drag class we run in is Top Scooter Class, chassis mods,locked suspension and even motorcycle engine parts are allowed.
We remain true to the spirit and everything on these scooters is from a twist` go scooter, wheels,suspension and engine parts are available as tuning parts for these machines, we just modify and tune them.
These engines can be taken out and fitted in a street scooter with no mods.
Take a look at other scooter sprinters, you will see similar chassis.
Unfortunately you cant, they were custom designed and built by us at TDR purely for the drag strip, totally impractical on the road, wont turn corners and use approx 1Ltr of fuel for a 1/4mile run and back to the pits with a bit left in the tank so 4.5miles to the gallon :-)
It`s a fair point but in answer to your comment I like action shots, it allows you to look at the mechanics and see more detail than a blur whizzing past,specially in the case of fast moving sports such as drag racing.
As we dont have a website and I thought people might be intrested in what we do (198 thousand hits say`s they are) I thought You Tube an excellent vehicle for this plus if it was on a website we wouldn`t be having this interaction and I wouldnt be conversing with people world wide about scooter drag racing.
here in germany the scooter tuning scene is really growing. in summer here are events, meetings and weekends every month. most famous one is the Scooter Weekend organized by scooter attack. there are vids of it on youtube, too.
The US has far more drag strips than the UK so start a forum,look into scooter tuning (there are companies in the states that sell tuning products plus major companies like Malossi and Polini are international) find a strip central to you and organise a meet on one of the run what ya brung or open testing days and see how it goes :-) never know you could start a whole new drag racing series in the US :-)
i will give it a shot. Because everyone here is Hayabusa this or ZX that and it makes racing boring and expensive at times. Hey love how you guys in the UK will race anything and be good at it
Oh dear, there seems to be a gay Dutch theme to these comments :-) and I`d have thought jp2956 that being 21 years old your balls would have dropped by now as well! Why dont you get together with your boyfriend Ekipsss,break out the KY jelly and play hide the sausage ;-)
A brief and concise appraisal from a closet homosexual whose balls hav`nt dropped and has nothing better to do than troll.Please feel free to comment again if you ever reach puberty.

What do they run? Also are they 2 stoke?
rcturbos 1 year ago
@rcturbos
Standing start 1/4 mile times and speeds. Red Dwarf has run 11.90 sec best ET and 119mph best terminal speed.
Blue Dwarf has run 12.1 sec best ET and 108.5mph best terminal speed.
They are both 2 stroke twist`n go scooter engines.

what makes them scooters?
freestyla101 1 year ago
@freestyla101
They are based on the Piaggio 125cc Liquid cooled 2 stroke engines.
Blue one is from an Italjet Dragster 125 and the Red one is from a Piaggio Hexagon 125.
TDRScooters 1 year ago
@TDRScooters oh ok so basically stripped of the fairing, but if you increase the wheelbase are they still classified as scooters?

With what kinda intake (valve/carb) do you drive?
And how many BHP?
Grtz
JRMNBeats 2 years ago
We use V-Force reed valves from yamaha 350 banshee quads in custom reed valve housings to mate with the engine.
We use keihin PWK 39mm flatslide carbs.
BHP is unknown we never dyno them as we use the drag strip to test and compare times and speeds in a real racing situation.

These are both Piaggio based engines, one is a piaggio hexagon 125 and the other is an Italjet dragster 125, both bored and stroked.
