They accepted the risks and knew they couldn’t make it back given their conduction and food supplies exhausted no fuel for heating what a way to go in a No Mans Land. I brought the region2 DVD Scott of the Antarctica, early this month and it was hard to get over afterwards it really had an impact
The holst music fits the depressing images it seems such a downer in parts.
@BritishSteel1965 This comment made my day! The more I research Scott and his companions, the more I appreciate what extraordinary human beings they were. Your comment sums things up perfectly. Thank you so much!
the determination of the fellow who put up the British flag worked well with the music at that point; the showcasing the horrors that befell them for the climax, and then finally the discovery of them...ok, I honestly thought you did marvelously well with the music, and for nine minutes, that's no mean feat. Congrats my dear, congrats!
This is extremely well done. So many good moments that used the music wonderfully. I particularly liked: the opening with the flashbacks; how when the brass band started at the docks was when the brass section of the music began (also worked well with the joyousness of the occasion); eading into the strings section for the excitement of things to come followed by the dramatic chord of realising the Norwegians got there first; (comment continued...)
what a remarkable story... i really feel their pain.
we cant live in -2 degrees what about -90 degrees at the South Pole. man i never finished a book so quick than Scot's last expedition. wow amazing video as well. Thank U for who ever uploaded. i really appreciate it. Thank u once again
Greenheart, are you aware that the complete series is available on YouTube? I cannot watch it because of all the suffering of man and beast (Oh, the poor, poor ponies....) but it is there allright, and on my channel you will find an instalment of it, that will lead you to the others.
Off the record, I think that this was one of Martin's finest performances on tv ever - so stirring that I found it impossible to watch to the end :-(
Thank you, but I bought the DVDs a long time ago and reccomended it to many friends. Martin Shaw is undoubtedly amazing in it, and is only one of the reasons this series is so good. :)
As for watching on Utube - imho, even with the best quality vids you cannot fully appreciate the merits of any work of art. This is one of the reasons I'm posting on my channel only archive stuff and nothing which can be bought on the market. The other - actors and fillmakers deserve their royalties.
This mini-series had a real impact on me, it's amazing what these people endured, an admirable and inspiring story of events.

Captain Scott & his brave companions were my childhood heroes, a poignant reminder of loyalty, trust & love, something missing from the world today

May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, surround and comfort the men remembered in this film.

What was it some 11 miles left to go yet seemed so far…in that harsh bitter weather would be more than enough to bring down the toughest of men.
