  • my teochew is so bad.. i had to pay attn to listen to this ;( sad.

  • Suprisingly there are a lot of Teochew people around the world but unfortunately the language is being forgotten by the younger generation as they mainly speak the native language of the country they live in. I wonder how many people understood what you said.

  • I can understand you. My parents are from cambodia but my grandma moved to cambodia from china because there weren't enough jobs in china, You were talking about your stomach problems right? LOL

  • @iBiteCows My parents are from Cambodia too, and they speak teochew too.

  • Hi Loli2504, I rarely understand your story. I have forgotten most of teochew, my father's language because long time I haven't use it.

    Can you translate to English?

    Thank you so much.

  • It's nice to know that someone else speaks this language other than me. LOL.

  • Dude, although your accent is slightly different, your teochew is very good.

  • cool! my mom is teochew born in srok khmer too! my mom speaks it but since my dad doesn't, i can only speak khmer but not teochew. really wish i had learned though because my cousins speak only teochew and french and i can't understand it. can you make teochew lessons?!

  • @Artharrex123 some of the words are close to cantonese...but only a little bit.

  • Wow, u sound very fluent! but people who don't know what is teochew, the dialect, will also not be able to understand what you are talking about. subtitle?

  • I hope you're feeling better.....

Lol I talk the same way but with a little bit of American accent.

I love Teochew !! Group on Facebook! Please Join us

  • Oh man, I wish I could speak teochew like you. I used to be fluent, kind of when I was young like 3 or 4. But because of english in school I've lost it. All I can do now is understand a little bit of the things I always hear my parents say to each other and to me.

  • I wish I could speak Teochew as good as you. I'm better than my mother and the rest of the family but it's the limit I can practice :(

  • FINALLY SOMEONE WHO SPEAKS TEOCHEW ! LOL

  • Your teochew is way better than mine lol. I understand you but I wouldn't be able to tell a story like you did here.

  • i cannot hear clearly much of the words =[

  • I only can understand random words because my family mixes their teochew with English and Chinese so now I can't speak Teochew and Chinese properly._.

  • holy shieeeeee I'm so proud of myself cos I could understand what you were saying. this is my mothertongue aswell but fahhhh, it's so hard to actually speak it :/

  • Can you make videos teaching Teochew??

  • Moi je suis teochew j'habite en Belgique :)

  • It's so weird hearing a non-family member speak teochew! But after a minute or two of listening to you it sounds so normal. This makes me really start speaking more frequently. I don't think I could go through a story without saying "uh" a million times. Thanks for sharing. =)

  • leu ho? haha, trying to brush up on my teochiu everyday since i end up mixing it with english when i speak to my mom :( this vid is helping me.

  • Hokkien, Teochew, Hainan, and Taiwanese sound so similar.. any relations?

  • I guess you call me a Chindian nowadays, but mum is Teochew. Our Teochew is different because up to 2 generations ago, the family were largely based in Bangkok for business reasons. So the family lived there between 1872 and 1931. Our accent is different from yours. Can only pick up a few words here and there, but then I am out of practice not living in Spore anymore

  • woot Teochew <3

  • I'm Teochew too! :D naise.

  • Are you French?

  • Listen to you saying Teochew makes me remind me of my late Grandma. :'( I miss her.

  • It sounds a LOT like Taiwanese, haha... except with some similarity to Cantonese.

  • Your camera is really good. The video and audio is fantastic. By the way im not Chinese my friend is and I am pleasently surprised to know that its such an interesting language. Sounds a bit like Thai.

  • I can understand you. It's also my native language.

  • I dont know a word of teochew, but I'm watching this so I can have a better understanding of my friends/acquaintances who speak this language.

  • I speak Teochew but like the comment below me, my speaking sucks. I wish there were some schools to learn this (if anyone knows where to learn this please comment back).

Where do you live? You speak so fluently...

  • You should make more videos in Teochew! I didn't get to actively learn it when I was younger so I can understand it but my speaking is bad. There aren't that many resources for learning Teochew and on top of that I really want to learn the Vietnam/Cambodia accent specifically.

  • You Speak my language <3

  • @xlilxevex Hi there ! Do you have skype? I would love to speak teochew with sb else than my family haha

  • my grandfather is teochew.... but I don't speak.

    happy to see it

  • 你从小就在国外,潮州话好怪!

  • Surprising I understood about 90% of this video! Yay!

  • How about lessons?

  • I'm so excited I found this! My native language is Teochew, but I haven't spoken it in so long since I've begun college, I've only been speaking english so I'm losing it really fast! (This is also happening to my Vietnamese) I'm going to listen to this and try to retain as much of my language as possible!

  • @anhysan That's cool ! I really don't speak teochew when I go out haha I just speak it at home because I have no teochew friends... I do have a lot of Vietnamese friends but I don't speak their language yet so we communicate in french haha

  • nice

  • PS I hope you feel better.

  • @babychaau same here in the CA area. Not too many people I know speak the language, I rarely speak the language outside and mostly at home.
