  • Forgive my ignorance but is this style of music what was being played in europe at the time the Spaniards first went to Latin America? I.e. was this what thay might have played on thier vihuelas when they got there?

    Todas las "guitarras" latinoamericanas son la evolución o la adaptación indígena de los instrumentos que trajeron los españoles, que en aquella época fueron la guitarra barroca y la vihuela, las dos con órdenes dobles de cuerdas.

  • Gracias. Si, he leído algunas teorías de como los instrumentos europeos fueron modificados (o imitados) de tal forma que el resultado fue el charango. Sería interesante probar un charango con cuerdas de tripa o nylgut, quizás así se podría obtener un sonido más parecido al de tiempos pasados.
