I almost cried watching this, but if you see the man he is now, all he's achieved... than we could say all the pain's been worth it. Such a lovely human being... not to mention his amazing talent as a singer and musician.
@HelloHi1001 I'm not saying that it's fair (because it isn't) but it's just the way show business works... you must give media something to talk about... if you don't, they forget you... and everyone forgets you too... sad but true... anyway, just to don't annoy gary's fans: I love gary barlow... the man that he's now... I didn't like the guy he was... that's all... :-)
robbie may of had the solo career that gary never had, its a shame really. but where would robbie be with out take that today and gary. right where gary was thats where. gary is a far better person than robbie is and always will be,, in my eyes robbie made gary into the superstar he is today. gary you have the respect of the british public. you are a true role model for any child who wants to acheive there goal in life. your on the road to super stardom well done
It wasn't Robbie's fault if Gary's solo carreer failed... He is a great musician, and songwriter but he doesn't work as a solo artist... he's too "normal"... for me it was his personality that made his carrer fail... if everyone could be a popstar... well there'll be too many... But I think that this failure was good for Gary... in the past he was too self confident... He considered himself a legend.. I didn't like him...
I feel so sorry for Gary when I watch this! It's not fair that he had no solo success and that the media mocked him. Gary doesnt deserve this. And if I were him, I wouldn't forgive Robbie the things he said.
Total respect for Ian Wright - I remember this interview from many years back and I was so sad for Gary Barlow but Wrighty really tried to big him up - how it`s changed for Gary now - a great sonwriter, part of a hugely successful group but most importantly a decent human being...back for good.
he should have let Wrighty become his manager or at lest part of his team, he would never dropped from sight all those wasted years when we missed him
Well Mr Barlow, you're going good now for the last couple of years. I think you came out very strong... But don't forget...I was there supporting you in Brighton at The Brighton Centre, back in 1999. Love to see Take That though back as a five-piece.
It was an awkward interview but I'm pleased it turned around by the end. I hate seeing Gary like that. I'm so glad things are better now. He is a wonderful artist and I am a huge fan. Go Gary!
I have watched this video a couple of times now and everytime it mooves me. A very emotinal interview for Gary. Thanks to his wife Dawn he survived the bad years. Thank you Ian Wright for letting us see the real humanGary Barlow, the great singer, the songwriter, member of Take That. Everybody, Read his book "My Take".
The most familiar thing that we know from Gary is he's a most very humbling and introvert person. And if his confidence rise up, it means there's one thing he believe could make him to be better. For example: Take That. He admitted that when he was still joining TT in 90s his confidence increased well. After the band splitted, he used that confidence to fight against Rob. Unfortunately he slipped and somehow fortune just went into Rob. Poor Gary. Maybe God has got a plan for his destiny.
this just made me cry. ian wright was cracking trying so hard to boost him, gary just looked so defeated. so pleased how everything has turned out for him- what a genuinely nice guy
I hate see anyone like that , never mind gary, it does break ya heart seeing him like that but i love it how as soon as he presses a key on the piano, his face lights up, its just so nice to see. You can tell that Music is his life xD i'm proud of him and the other memebers of take that, they've come along way, well done guys x
Definitely sad to watch, seeing him clearly so down at this point and that later he felt that he had to leave the UK and live in the US for a couple of years.
I guess now he can even look back at this period as something that he lived through and came out the other side, surviving all the crap and has probably become a better person for experiencing personally that things don't always go great in one's life - but there is nearly always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Gary defines himself by his music so when things were going well in the 90's he felt good about himself... wouldn't anybody? It's only human that.
When things went wrong he was crushed. His discomfort here is hard to watch, especially when he cracks a joke to lighten the mood. I just wanna hug him :(
But into every life a little rain must fall... helps us appreciate the good times! I'm so happy for him that it's all turned around again!
You know, it makes me feel awful to see him like that. When Rob left the group, and after the split, I had nothing postive to say about Gary. I was soooo young and I felt that I needed to be "on Robbies side". I know now that I was wrong.
Sorry Gary!
But then again - he WAS a very impressed with himself before all that happened wasn't he?
Had this not happened he wouldn't have "opened his eyes" and he wouldn't be the person he is today. Gary is just lovely nowadays!!
It's tough to see Gary at such a hard place in his life, but it helped make him the humble, considerate, REAL person that he is today, so I guess it wasn't all bad. It makes his current success all that much sweeter!!! He's such a wonderful human being! Thanks for posting!!
What a cutiee, him and Mark are my faves.
