sounds well , it's a P6 from a massey harris/fergy combine and as such has a mechanically governed CAV inline pump instead of the pneumatic governed inline pump usually found on a p6.

dont ajust the idal speed cause it will speed up when its warm and plus it chokes them up if they run fast.I know because my grandad has got one similar to that one and when i start it up he always tells not to run it for because the man who had it before had it running his radiator in his shed and it was realy bad we had to strip it down for a total rebuild and they need some thing to make that engine work but what can you find cause it takes alot to make them work

you need to increase the low idle speed a little so it doesn't fluctuate as much and you might want to check the valve lash one more time.

where the accelerator lever is there is a screw that it always lays against, just loosen the lock nut and turn the screw clockwise a little and then tighten the nut and your done.

No, this is known as a P 6. They have the 3.5 inch bore and are about 288 cubic inches. I have a later version of this engine known as the 6-288 fitted in my wee grey ferguson tractor. The 6-288 has the same guts as the p6 but it is fitted with a C.A.V rotory diesel pump with mechanical govnor instead of the C.A.V in-line air govorned injector pump. The rotory pump makes the engine very livley. Check out my videos and you will see the wee grey fergie in action.

e27n p6 the best tractor ever!! i would not want a massey harris 744pd with their weak gearboxs as a gift,only to take out the engine & chuck the rest away!!!
