  • This is really good, but I would love to hear the old LA symphony guys do this. Ralph Sauer, Alan Raph etc. Ralph would play about as perfect on something like this as you'd ever get.

  • Splendido!

  • Oh my God! I need to hide the video and just listen to this beautiful sound. Great musicians! However, I'm so disturbed by the bass trompone player that it removes ALL the pleasure. It's really annoying!! There is NO excuse to be so disagreable to look at even if you're that good. It's just a bad habit, easy to correct, and it's so unnecessary to do this kind of moves to achieve a good sound. On the contrary. It sends the energy all over the place instead of going in the sound.

  • I personally don't like this recording so much, I think for a trombone quartet it could have sounded better

  • Which arrangement is this?

  • absolutely beautiful.directed from the bass trombone.

  • i would in fact complain about the leprechaun outfit.

  • Never thought a trombone could ever sound so nice and calm =]

  • that bass bone player is amazing!! this video is amazing!!

  • beautiful :D wow

I want to know play air :DD

  • Espectacular!!! Bravo!!!!

  • Who cares if Dave Taylor can't keep still?! You're not going to hear a bass trombone played better than that EVER. If he was dressed like a leprechaun, you'd probably still complain about it!!! It's music folks, LISTEN TO IT!!!!!!

  • Dave IS one of the best that has EVER played the bass bone! He should be spoken about with the same respect as George Roberts, Mr. Bass Trombone!

He is not just a musician, he is a musical artist! The Bass Bone is a beautiful instrument, and he is the upper crust of the best of the best.

  • Amazing !

  • Bass player looks like he's having some troubles standing upright, poor fellow :D

  • the person on the right looks like he need to crap so bad...

but wow they're awesome... great great job!

  • love this piece... i wanna do ti for my graduation ceremony

  • Sounds beautiful but the guy on the right acts like he's got his slide caught in his fly. Either that or he's counting invisible roaches on the floor around him.

    But it sounds beautiful.

  • Hahhhaha true xD

  • I've seen videos of myself when I am completely absorbed in a piece, I move around alot, I say side to side, the bell comes up and down. Not this much, but when you are as good as this gguy and can achieve the level of pure focus and concentration you just don't notice.

As a compaetetive weightlifter I have had similar moments as I prepare for a lift where I start moving in ways I don't realise as I focus every part of me on the bar... when people are absorbed, they don'' care what you think.

  • You can laugh all you want at Dave Taylor's way of playing... But can you play like him?

    I would seriously doubt it...

  • yes, the bass seems to be dancing xD

can I get sheets for this?

  • david taylor sure does play into the floor

  • sure gets a full sound though. I would think with a Bass Bone in particular where your bell is pointed might not matter as much as compared to a straight horn.

  • Wouldn't exactly be my choice of instrument(s). Brass instruments could be great for the lead motifs, but thay can't really replace the cembalo IMHO.

  • バストロンボーンはベルをかなり下げてますが何か意味はあるのですか?

  • Thats a good point!

  • バストロンボーン奏者は何でこんなにベルを下に向けるのですか?

  • where can iget sheet music for air on g

  • The chord at 1:42 harmonized so well.

  • what the heck is that guy doing he looks like he's having a fit! nice sound though!! :D

  • He doesn't just want his horn to speak, he wants it to dance as well.

Very beautiful piece, I think I'm going to try to learn it on trombone myself, just for fun :)

  • こんなにゆっくりな曲なのに聴いていてあきないです。

  • 泣けます

  • haha air instruement playing string instruement? yuk

  • ??? air intruments playing air intruments.. that´s what i hear!!! i can´t see any string on this video. can you?

  • gosh...don't you get it?

    This is called "Air on the G S T R I N G" STRING...you got that now?

He meant, that this is a string instrument song.

  • One thing about Bach, he doesn't wanna give ya a chance to breathe...guess ya gotta figure it, comin from an organist. Toughen up, suck some air in edgewise. That's Bach for ya...gotta love it.

  • drunken trumbone style lol

  • Ha! Totally lol'ed.

  • muito lindo!!!!!

  • lovely! the masters make the simple sound good

  • Great! Hey man palying 4th trombone, what are you looking for?:P

  • Idiot, that's just how the great bass trombonist in the World! plays...

    Check him out...David Taylor

  • i know! all us bass trombonists hoover whilest playing! :P

  • Ya. swift pleasing sound technique in the lower register is every bass trombonists dream O_O.

  • damn.. this is awesome.

  • che,

    muy bueno

  • Excellent as Mnozil brass. Bach can be performed on any instrument , the worship quality will always come through. 4 Trombones, classic ,

    seriuos sound.

NB a senior Rugby player said : at my age: 3 rules: never pass a toilet, never trust a fart, never waste an erection.

  • This tune is carried by the bass. Forgive him for 'crouching'. He had the hardest job to do.

  • Maybe it's a kind of tourettes, in which case he's overcoming a great amount to produce this highly musical sound.

Or maybe he's from a jazz background, that'd do it.

  • wat r u sayin bout people "from a jazz background"?

  • i think the main reason taylor is moving is to balance out the bass trombone sound with the rest of the ensemble(sp?) but thats just my thought

  • I played with Bruce Eidem (guy next to Dave Taylor) in the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony in the mid 70s, no kidding.

  • Excellent !!!!!! Cant stop my tears rolling down my cheeks

  • Wow!

Where can I get the notes?

  • this actually is Dave Taylor "settling down"

check him out when he's playing with the Mingus Band...

  • simply excellent playing...i didn't know that moving was a form of conducting, but, in this case, i thought that the bass line setting the tempo was the actual 'form' of conducting--wouldn't you agree?

  • The "dude on the right"?Yeah,, a one way to see it! But, don´t you miss something essentially while you are critisizing The "dude on the right"?Don´t you realize that everybody in this performance are giving all their soul and hearts to let the piece itself flow up to the skies? Get airstream under the whole magnificient "Air on a G String"?I feel that whole this Pugh/Taylor Project is a great event and really rizes up the magnificient with playing such a difficult instrument as a trombone is!

  • It's good, but it started off kinda scary...

Also, hearing the countermelody the first time through would have been nicer.

  • as everyone said, i love taylors sound and playing, cant take anything away from him, but he moves a bit much.

its like tapping your foot, it takes something away from the performance.

then again, its dave taylor, he can do wat he wants.

  • i couldn't stand playing while looking down like that. its uncomfortable playing in that position, but he does it good.

  • procol harum - whiter shade of pale

  • David Taylor is the man, enough said

  • mmm yummy. i do find the guy on the right a bit distracting. its just a bit out of place maybe... but it sounds gorgeous

  • No body seems to get David Taylor

  • Great musicians, great horns. I wish I had Dave taylors Edwards...

  • the dude on the right needs to calm down but it all sounds gd

  • What? Do you expect him to stand there like a choirboy? These dudes are like the Jimmy Hendrix of the trombone world. Do you get all agitated when rockers strike unusual poses during performances? Close your eyes and listen again. They perform with the whole body and soul. The "dude on the right" is a serious artist and your need for him to "settle down" indicates that you should run your thoughts by some of your serious musician friends.

  • the right hand guy moves alot

  • That's what Dave Taylor does....

  • sorry i don't know him :(

  • its a form of conducting

  • That's what a trombone quartet is supposed to sound like!!!

  • yes... their musicality is what's most impressive
