  • I love it!!! this was such an awmazing time to watch with my family!!! I rember watching the Marx Brothers when I was 4 and I'm 15 now and will never stop loving the fun times watching the Marx Brothers with my family. NVER!!!!! ;D

  • I thought Tom Hanks / Robert Loggia on the piano in Big was cute... This was fantastic !!

  • masterpiece

  • this is incredible! they've got to be at least 100 times better than any musician out there.

  • what key is he playing in? anyone?

  • @broham2o9 it seems to me it's C Major, forgive me if I'm wrong!

  • best bit of this film

  • Not only do they play flawlessly, but they remain humble when they finish as well. Notice how they didn't wait for an applause, they just kept going with the scene as if the music was just 3 minutes of killing time. That must've taken some serious rehearsal time, especially when they switched sides.

  • i want a tutorial of mama yo quiero chico marx style!!!!

  • The Marx Brothers at their finest

  • This is so cool!!

  • Whatever happened to talent like this!

  • The piano playing itself was funny. So was the singing. The harp playing was the serious three minutes of the movie.

  • Ah! Chico, shooting the keys!

  • Excellent, excellent, excellent. My mum was a piano teacher and concert pianist, and always said that Chico and Harpo were geniuses on the piano. She reckoned it was very hard to play a piano with such expertise and make it look so effortless. I love 'em to bits, always have.

  • I've been watching these guys since i was 3, and this was my favourite movie of their's, will never get sick of it

  • I make skits that are chock-full of puns and one-liners, please take a look and let me know what you think! I'm a huge fan of The Marx Brothers and want to reach out to an audience who likes that sense of humor

  • Gotta love them.

  • @progothinko very enlightening response!! You must be a Harvard grad.

  • sounds more like Princeton.

  • Harpo will ALWAYS be my FAVORITE Marx brother!!! Something about him makes you want to take care of him. I guess it's the mom in me. He is sooooooooooooo ADORABLE!!!

  • Yes they did. However everything was recorded first and played back. They didn't always play the same notes in playback.

  • It's clear that they are not playing what we are listening, but it's a great and extremely funny show!

  • Jerry Lee Lewis, eat your heart out!

  • "The Big Store" is far from their best...but still 10X funnier than anything today

  • I never really noticed how alike they looked before.

  • Awesome...

  • I am SO HAPPY someone put this on stumble. I just went from kinda bored to extremely happy :D Thanks for uploading!

  • hey they are really playing the piano look! this is CLASSIC and COOL!

  • wow seriously , this is fantastic!!! how come we ended up with movies like twilight, when cinematography has such a great history??

  • ... e chi pensasse che Harpo e Chico non sapessero suonare il piano, non capiscono niente di musica!

  • oh man,mad,mad ,mad skills.

  • Does anyone know if there is an audio file of this available for download?

  • They are such talented people and I am in love with them- there was one point when i was 10 i was so obssesed with Harpo that my nickname became Harpo

  • i luv the bit at 0:59 when chico whacks harpos hand as they run up and down the keys XD

  • That is too good 8-o''

    mad skilled

  • i love how Chico can play without even looking at the piano at 1:21

  • It seems they've lowered the bar when it comes to tallent these days, what a shame the greats are gone.

  • Reminds me of Red Skelton. He never had to cuss to get a good laugh, unlike todays 'so called' comedians. R.I.P.

  • SOOOO JEWISH. I LOVE THEM. In my head they are my family <3 I'm an 18 yr old chick who grew up to this. Of course I took Duck Soup with me to college...hope the other freshmen don't think I'm too cool ;)

  • the closest a modern comedian might come to this level of talent would be Dudley Moore (himself a fantastic classical pianist) and great actor. If someone exists today, let the light shine upon him/her/them.

  • They don't make 'em like they used to

  • aye.

  • HAhaha! what the hell was Harpo's deal? Whatever it was, it was hillarious.

  • Where are these guys when you need them? I wish some of our jams were this much fun. Nobody around anymore like the Marx Bros -

  • @mapingthefreakout

Well, it's played on public tv in Minnesota, (found that out when I went on vacation just a few days ago) but I live in Georgia, so it doesn't help me much...

  • what has happened to true talent , love it, respect

  • always wanted them to see play the piano in duet it is simply great

  • Fucking fantastic!!!!

  • Still gobsmacked! What a piece!

  • absolutely fan-bloody-tastic. they were and still are, in my mind, the greatest comedic performers ever in the history of comedy. I simply love them. keep adding them, their gags will never get old and die.xxxxxx

  • haha. oh this is too adorable!

  • @kyrastube as you cansee women adored chico andharpo

  • *sigh* they don't do comedy like they used to :D

  • Does anyone know where to get the sheet music for this - at least for Chico's part? We'd love to try it!

  • I second this, I would love to be able to play this!

  • It sounds like it's improvised. I hear segments of various works.

Harpo was actually a somewhat accomplished pianist (although not as much so as Chico) and started his career (at a very young age) playing in bars and such.

  • @TomBarristerX congratulations, you know how to wiki

  • @jros83 I also know how to read, such as at least six books by and on the Marx Brothers, all first read in the 70's and 80's, long before the internet was known to more than a handful of people.

PS: A lot of the Marx information on the internet is incorrect.

  • Brava! What a great story, I'd have hired you on the spot as well!

  • why do you talk like this?

what's with the ego , ego can be a nice thing if your a nice person

  • Woop doop - how's your ego now? nice lard though.

  • Splendid love.

  • These guys are adorable!

  • @efbell.. Congratulations!! If you can play the piano like that, though, you can get a job anywhere! Kudos to You. I can't even play like Harpo ...lol

  • the amazing amount of talents these men possessed and the versatility in which they used them is the very reason i think the Marx Brothers are the greatest comedy team of all time

  • Serious talent.

  • Love this scene

  • That brought tears of amazement and joy to my eyes. Just incredible.

  • Celebrities of todya, please take note from these talented men!

  • @Jukesette And they actualy liked each other, yess I know they were real brothers, notice how they never publicly bashed each other or thier parents, young Hollywood could use a little class like that. Of course as brothers there had to have been private agruement and misunderstandings now and then as in all families but they had the class not to go public and bash each other. Oh, where is the class and dignity in Hollywood today

  • @gibbdreamer You are right and I love these guys but also remember the media was NOTHING like it is now. The blood thirsty media will stir up a scandal if they can't find one these days. It's disgusting and I don't ever see it getting better as long as people keep paying attention. Personally I could care less what goes on in a celebrity's personal life.

  • @augustwo I agree 100 percent about the media but that is just half of it. It seems 99 percent of Hollywood has no class or dignity. anymore. That is so very sad. No wondr I perfare the Classic movies and actors / actoress. And I shall ALWAYS be a Marzist. I am a loyal follower of HARPO. He canlead me anywhere. lol

  • these 2 are such a joy to watch together, so fun, and they obviously cared a lot about each other

marx bros make me smile :D

  • pure talent. and it ran in the family. practically galloped.

  • @TheSchoolWorld Ha! I know where that came from! =D

  • @TheSchoolWorld Ditto!

  • @TheSchoolWorld Hahaha!!!! Love the Cary Grant reference! Oh man, I love the Marx Brothers!

  • @TheSchoolWorld isn't that a line from arsenic and old lace? lol

  • besides being hilarious, all the brothers had other talents. this is amazing. just brilliant

  • I'm a huge marx brothers fan and this is probably my favorite Chico piano playing bit. Brilliant.

  • i'm 12 and the first movie i've ever watched (by them) was a night at the opera. i only saw the end, but the scene where Harpo runs diagonally up the curtain is what got me hooked. now we watch their movies (my dad and i) almost every weekend. =D

  • Your Dad (or even Grandad) probably wasn't born when these movies were made. People were funny even in the old days! Great!

  • Yeah, but he loves them too. I just watched A Day at the Races last night with him ^^

  • @foleyoni This ain't that old. It's only from 1941. My grandparents were in their 20s when this came out and I'm only 21! :P

Now, The Coconuts, that's "the old days" that movie was made in 1929, my grandma was just a little girl. Or, the Marx Bros., plays from vaudeville and Broadway. ...those are the old days.

The 40s are really not "the old days" they were actually the end of the line for the Marxes as a team.

  • Harpo and Chico are amazzzingg :D

  • best comedy duet

  • harpo 's hardly looking at the keys

  • i watched as a boy and loved them, and now years later i still watch and laugh at them, genuine old classics, right up there with Laurel and Hardy,Buster Keaton,Will Hay and Harold Lloyd, not forgetting the infamous Keystone Cops!

  • this has probably been asked already but does anyone know the name of the song they are playing or are they just messing around. no doubt chico has enough talent to do so. but you cant help but love the fun shennanigany movements of harpo.

  • Harpo could actually play the piano as well or better than Chico, but did not do so in the Marx Brothers so as not too upstage his older brother.

  • Comment removed

  • They are playing "Mama yo Quiero".

  • thanks a lot

  • Only complaint I have about this is that my brother imitates Harpo now. Every time I practice, without fail, he will come up and drop his elbow on the keys.

  • Wonderful!

  • 3:06 its all good but that right there is pure genius

  • i ment from 3:00 to 3:06 sorry

  • I LOVE this video, I was watching it at work and i started laughing hysterically

  • I love the Marx Brothers! Im 14, more people should know about their genus! (I just brought Harpos autobiography "Harpo speaks" of amazon!)

  • I bought Harpo Speaks from Amazon as well, incredible read!

And yes more young people should be exposed to the Marxes. ;)

  • I'm thirteen and my dad is pretty old school. He got me to watch a day at the races and I thought they were okay. I watched their movies recently and now i can't get enough. it's ashame that good humor like that died. Long Live the Marxes!!!!!!!!!!

  • Day at the Races was my first exposure to the Marxes as well. Though at the moment Horse Feathers has become my new favorite, it's even more anarchic than Duck Soup (if that was possible, hehe)

  • Too true about the humor, nowadays [ha, I sound like an adult] comedy isn't as it used to and, to me and many, has changed dramatically. For me, true comedy = The Marx Brothers.

  • thats exactly how i started getting into the marx brothers was cause my dad is old school, im going to make sure my kids watch things like this and what i used to watch, lot better than the crap they put on now. :P

  • @Guitarnut57 Im really glad you like it! I practically grew up on these movies. Still am.

  • @Guitarnut57 Glad you realized the difference. Now compare old school music to rap, you'll get the same result.

  • @Guitarnut57 Hm, I think I was around 13 when my Grandfather introduced me to the Marx Bros. My parents had already raised me on the Three Stooges, so he thought I might like them as well...and boy, was he right!

It reassures me to know there's other young Marx fans out there.

  • @Guitarnut57 they're fantastic, but 'good humor' and great musicians are still here..explore all music, not just past music.

  • The Best Ever

  • Chico was just such...a wonderful piano player. Harpo was the best harpest. He taught himself to play.

  • Marx bros. the best bros. in the world :D I always laugh my ass off to their films, been watching 'em since I was just a little kid and now I'm 18 years old. Shit, I'm the only guy in my neighbourhood who knows about the marx bros. gotta spread the word a little bit. haha This clip from the Big Store is actually my favourite "chico-playing-piano"-part in any marx bros movie. Thanks!

  • Definitely, classic comedy fans need to spread the message more. :)

  • just remember that I watched one day at the races with a friend when we were kids, he laughed his ass off too, if i remember it right

  • Talent

  • Pure joy,thanks for posting :)

  • Raw talent is ageless.

  • this made me smile :o)

  • :)!

  • If I ever get tired of watching that piece of footage, dig me a shallow grave and I'll happily lay down in it.

  • That was entertainment, better than most of the bullshit they make today.

  • that´s damn´true^^....................

  • Chico was a really talented pianist!

  • que dioses

  • The more you watch them the more you love - Harpo the greatest 'silent' comic ever no one has ever come close

  • like in old days :)

  • One of the funniest things I've ever seen!

  • cant complaine

  • A real CLASSIC!

  • Great stuff!!!

  • Chico & Harpo Forever!!!

  • i luv it harpo is cute and chico is very talented

  • my favorite part

  • Wonderful

  • man i they're just the best!

  • very cool vidoe of a very cool film!!!
