  • so you can go for a rescue attempt on the first turn of the game because you can play defense from your hand right?

  • HA! he almost killed his own evil person :D

  • I miss Redemption. I used to hit local tourneys every week in Kansas City. Now that' I've moved, there's no organized play in my area. =/

  • Very nicely done. A few errors, but oh well. They should record the National's finals like this!

  • Ive noticed that they arnt killing heroes when the evil character's strength does equal the the toughness of the hero....

  • Why won't it let me post?

  • @CrimsonVoid Of course this one works.

  • I've been playing MtG for a few years now off and on and really like the mechanics of the game, but not so much the themes. I've been considering selling my MtG cards and giving Redemption a shot. Is it comparable to MtG mechanics wise? Is it a game a college student might consider or is it geared more towards a younger age group?

  • @winkerweezel no. often redemption is a game of "giant growth" buffs. i remember games where i had 86/23 for a card after all of the bonuses were added. it was ridiculous. i advise keeping two core decks of your magic and selling the rest. don't just dump all your cards. i had a rez/spike deck that i almost wept over getting rid of. i have played around 11 or 12 ccg/tcg's and i can say that they are very different.

  • @winkerweezel

Redemption is "similar" in game mechanics, yet quite different. I have some friends that play(ed) MTG before Redemption and haven't had too much difficulty adjusting to Redemption. One of the main differences is wording. From what I gather, the mechanics are somewhat similar. The main objective of Redemption is to rescue lost souls, but the meta-game is certain "brigades" (Colors of characters) being more or less successful against other brigades. I haven't played MTG though.

  • I need one clarification, the rules state "If there is a Lost Soul in an opponent's Land of Bondage, you may make a rescue attempt, provided that your Hero has access to the Lost Soul. (See access to a Site)" Now does that mean there needs to be a site in play and a lost soul in it to make a rescue attempt, or can I make a rescue attempt at any time?

  • @somerandomhunter

every site has a color that matches a color of a good character

if you put a soul in a site then only a hero with the same color as that site can access it and rescue the soul

ex. you put a soul in a yellow site. then only someone with a yellow good character can rescue that soul

if you have a soul out and there are no sites then any hero can rescue that soul

  • @earth2pig Thanks a lot for that clarification. I played my first game with my brother and It didn't seem to smooth because we only went after lost souls that were in sites... lol

  • i have every card made and im only 12

  • I don't mean to rant on a video that isn't directly about this, but how have the creators of this game not gotten sued? This kind of crap is so annoying. WotC comes out with arguably the greatest card game invented by man. But the overly devout decide that it's too "evil" so they create a game that is almost an exact copy so they have their game that's not "tainted" by secular ideas. And this game sounds worse than Magic does. I've never heard anyone playing magic say "you're evil."

  • @CrimsonVoid sued for what??

  • @CrimsonVoid Would you sue whoever came up with the Darwin fish with legs that are on the back of cars because they copied off the Jesus fish? No, cause that would be stupid. There are way to many winers like you in this country.

  • @54tumelo56 You're right, sued was the wrong word. And I guess I didn't think of the reverse side of the coin. But it is still obnoxious to hear the whole "your stuff is too evil/secular for us to partake in." Especially since the game isn't really that different from Magic. Why make a game that is similar, with a different theme?

  • @CrimsonVoid I'm not terribly familiar with Magic, but I watched some youtube videos about it and they don't look that similar. Not any more similar than than other card games of the sort like Battetech or pokemon. I really don't see why you care.

  • @CrimsonVoid Lots of games are based off of other games And some people believe in the spiritual realm and that doing something, or playing something in this case, can make you vulnerable to some unpleasant things. If you don't believe in the spiritual world then whatever, but like I said I don't know why there is any reason to get disgruntled about it.

  • @54tumelo56 Think about it. What if Redemption was made first. Then I decide to make a new game that's similar. And the reason I made the game is because I believe that Redemption causes you to make bad choices that ruin your life forever; like joining a cult where that makes you give up your free will and participate in disturbing rituals where they consume human flesh and blood. All while you are being brainwashed into blindly following the heads of the cult. That wouldn't insult you at all?

  • @CrimsonVoid No. I don't take anything as an insult unless it is directed toward me personally. It would be upsetting, but everybody is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. Plus there is a lot in the world that is upsetting, a card game being the least of them. And like I said, They don't seem that similar. In Redemption your fighting over souls, It's based on the Bible and real life, not another card game. If you wanna point out specific similarities then I may think differently

  • @CrimsonVoid And that is a terrible exaggerated view of what some Christians thought about Magic.

  • @54tumelo56 It's not actually. Look up the video "God Games; Redemption the Card Game."

  • Comment removed

  • @54tumelo56 It's not an exaggeration. It's really condescending to say that the game I play is evil and they have to save people from it with theirs. And he's not the only one. People like that actually changed Magic for a while. It's just like D&D. They know nothing about it, yet they try to get rid of it. If they stayed away from my games I wouldn't be as annoyed by it. And all the things they said about community also applies to Magic. I met my closest friends through it

  • @CrimsonVoid "If they stayed away from my games I wouldn't be as annoyed by it."

How are they not "staying away" from your games??

  • @54tumelo56 Did you read my comment? People that think that Magic/D&D are evil have actively tried to get rid of them. There are pamphlets that describe the games as precursors to cults and "dark magic," certain cards were changed because they were “corrupting kids.” There were stories on the news about how D&D corrupts people and turns them into Satan worshipers. I’d consider that messing with the games.

  • @CrimsonVoid Listen Crimson, there's more things to get your panies in a bunch about. Go play your Magic game and let others play Redemption. This isn't worth arguing about.

  • @54tumelo56 See it's kind of annoying when someone starts sticking their nose into what you enjoy doing. Of course there are worse things in the world, and I discuss them all.

My friend and I got a Redemption starter pack, but it didn't come with enough lost souls. I'm guessing they are about as common as lands are in Magic. Where can I pick some up? I've never seen it in gaming stores. Hence the reason I hadn't heard about it in the 15 years it's been out.

  • @CrimsonVoid That's the problem we have. I have no idea where to get them. I found some old cards recently. So I've never actually bought them. They aren't even complete decks. We had to mix and match to make 2 half decent decks, but you can buy anything online. When we run out of lost souls we just shuffle them back into the deck and keep track of how many we had : /

  • @54tumelo56 We were just going to use some proxies. Do you play often?

  • @CrimsonVoid Not at all. My wife doesn't like it. She'll reluctantly play with me sometimes, but we haven't played in a while.

  • @54tumelo56 This just got really funny. We're both adults, arguing about card games. That's hilarious.

To be honest Magic has played a huge role in my life. I met a lot of friends through it, and I also got some mental scars from it. I used to get a lot of shit in high school for playing because it wasn't "cool." Funny thing is that I never planned to keep playing. I just kept running into people that play. And I'm glad I did. So I think that's why I'm a little sensitive about the whole thing.

  • @CrimsonVoid

The parent company that produces, sells, and oversees Redemption CCG is Cactus Game Design. You can buy booster packs from them, or other affiliated websites which are found under "LINKS" at cactusgame design.com (There is no space between game and design, so remove it if you copy and paste it). CGD also has a contract with Family Christian Bookstores and (I believe) Lifeway Christian stores to sell some Redemption products. Check out the message board found at the website too.

  • @CrimsonVoid Redemption, of all games, is only one in MANY ccg's that came out after MtG. Besides, WoTC make other companys buy a special license if there game is "too similar". I'm not ripping on MtG at all, I've played a couple tournaments and played FNMs for few months straight and really enjoyed it. When I said I was considering selling my cards, I was mainly talking about my rares ect. I just want to try something new, and being a Christian, Redemption seems a cool alternative to consider.

  • @winkerweezel I plan on checking out Redemption. It at least seems interesting.

  • IT'S TIME To. . . wait this isn't yu-gi-oh (backs up slowly then runs away far away)

  • You guys messed up pretty much every time lol. I saw at least 5 mistakes within the 1st 3minutes

  • im pretty sure immunity doesnt mean u kill the hero, if im wrong please correct me

  • Respond to this video...

  • @jthemantis Immunity means that the hero cannot kill the defender, but not the other way around. Ignore is what you were thinking of.

  • btw many of these are from the original A and B decks when the game first came out, so i guess back to '95-'96 i used to be the only one that would buy them from my Christian bookstore

  • hey guys i have some redemption cards at least 10-13 years old--any idea where i can sell them?

  • @yeshuabendavid well very few cards are worth more then a quarter from that long ago and even then most people wouldn't buy them unless they were from the womens pack or the warrior pack

  • Thanks for this guys! Looks like you did a lot of work

  • The quality is good and I appreciate the attempt to make a good redemption video. But those guys seemed nervous and didn't completely memorize or think about what they were supposed to do. But once again thank you for the effort.

  • 4/6 vs a 6/6 means the 4/6 is discarded..... come on guys so many errors?

  • this is really cool guys! good job!

    -Stephanie

  • also just to clarify 1 thing from this video, when Glasses go's to block my rescue attempt at 3:35 the special ability on Miriam is that she ignores gold brigade, this means that gold brigade evil characters can not enter battle, so Egyptian Chariots shouldnt have been put out.

(although Glasses killed himself with Angel of the Lord so it didnt really matter... silly Glasses)

  • @MrKyroon From the looks of it you have an evil character on your side of the field of play, so the move he did with Angel of the Lord shouldn't have discarded his own but yours. Now if you didn't have one then it does discard his own evil character.

  • well ffarm it is awesome that we could help. (This is Kyroon from the video for those who are reading this. Kyroon was taken so it offered me MrKyroon as a username instead. Not near as cool but meh what can ya do)

as for other videos we havnt started on anythin just yet but we have been talking about making some more.

  • Thanks for posting this. We just picked up Redemption yesterday and the instruction booklet was kind of confusing for us - and we don't know anyone who plays to ask for help. Nice video by the way - would love to see more tutorials/demos.

  • @ffarm08 Go to cactusgame design.com (Remove the space between "game" and "design" when copying and pasting the link) click the "Redemption" banner and go to the message boards (There's a link once you click Redemption) for more help, info, and quicker responses to questions. It's the official website for Redemption which is owned by Cactus.
