Affirmed eased up after putting away Darby Creek Road...and never saw Alydar coming. This was the last time Affirmed ever saw Alydar in front of him!

Very good field as well. Darby Creek Road was no slouch, just a notch below A & A, and Quadratic and Sauce Boat went on later to become track record holders in sprint distances if I recall.

Alydar caught Affirmed by surprise in this one, outside his vision to the right. I'm surprised the other horses were good enough to keep pace with Affirmed and keep him occupied before Alydar arrived.
