Just curious, what makes this one a basic as compared to the others? This one seems to have very nice tone, as do the others.

well, the main difference is, of course, the wood materials.

Sound wise, this one has nice tone and good volume. The better models have clearer and more solid tone. I would say clarity is the biggest difference.
