This music has a very Bond quality to it, but it doesn't seem to go well with the scene. The only part that really seemed to match was the bit around when Alec steps on 007's hand.
WOW THIS IS AMAZING! Is there any way you could upload this so we could download it? I mean, I understand if you're unsure about that, but it's just SO good.
This is really well done! But I think that Serra's original score works better for this movie. It just fits the mood and atmosphere of the film i think. This is my personal favorite Bond film of all time :)
An effective parody of David Arnold, along with that irritating descending string ostinato at 0:39 that he always uses, but completely wrong for the film.
Serra's score for Goldeneye was perfect, and fitted the post-Cold War atmosphere of the film very well. Better than anything Arnold's done with his Bond scores.
Absolutely brilliant. GoldenEye was a superb Bond film but was let down only by it's weird score by Serra. Your version of this scene works so well and intensifies the scene in a way only a real pro can. I tip my hat to thee! More please?
Works as a parody of David Arnold but this is not good film scoring, as it undermines the drama rather than contributes to it, and at times doesn't connect with the images at all.
it's a bit too loud all of the time - even action scenes need some restraint. but that's severe nit-picking, this is an excellent effort. superbly orchestrated too!
and it's sure better thatn the original soundtrack (which was so crap the filmakers changed half of it pre-release).
I agree with your comment about being remind of Arnold's scores. Had I not read the description I might have just assumed this was Arnold creating his own variation to Goldeneye, similar to his "Shaken, Not Stirred" album.
This was nice work indeed! Good luck landing a job in orchestrations!
stop bitching that goes for everyone..who just complains and complains. If you take it offensive..deal with it. this pretty much goes for ppl with a bunch of thumbs down.
come on man, it's really good but no way better than the original, the score in goldeneye is what made it sopecial. watch the archives seen again or this scene.
-The music level is slightly too high. It feels like the music is overpowering the action a bit. Of course this might be on purpose since it's a showcase for your work.
-The score itself is too much on the "epic" side for my taste. The first twenty seconds felt almost "cheesy" because it didn't quite blend with the movie content. I'm not sure how to put my finger on it, but something about the style felt just a little off.
Thanks so much for the compliments. This was my composition for the final project of the USC Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program. Obviously I chose this because I am a huge fan of Bond and remembered this film as having a weak (and mostly electronic) score that didn't fit with the sound of the other films. It was recorded at the Warner Bros. Clint Eastwood Scoring Stage in Burbank, CA.
@crowtr17 serra did a great job. my favorite score was from Goldeneye! this score is way too dramatic and is a standard for every action movie. Serra was original and perfect for Goldeneye
Superb. Five stars. Better than my videos because it's an ACTUAL SCORE written for the movie instead of bits from other movies. Is this a real orchestra? It sounds like it, but I know samplers are quite good nowadays.
SPEECHLESS! What you have done is something that I really love to see done. The music goes so well with this fight! In fact, if I hadn't seen the movie like a thousand times (it is my favorite Bond film after all :) I would have thought for sure that this was the actually score...and I wish it was because the actual score by Eric Seirra was not very good at all. Very well done dude! 5 out of 5 stars!
"For England James?
No, for me!"

I hear David Arnolds inspiration in this actually. His frantic use of brass, woodwind runs and the choral bond theme that peaks on a major chord

Sounds more Arnold than Barry but it was still very fitting. I especially liked the spacey bit at 1:30 when you're looking at the satellite.

jomo999, are you refering to Sierra's score for Goldeneye being half replaced.
Did the producers higher another composer, use stock Bond cues or just omit the music from scenes entirely?
dafmurray 2 years ago
they replaced entire scenes, you can probably find sierra's original score on youtube for this scene which is very different from the final cut.
They used all kinds of bits and bobs to redo certain scenes and some john barry stuff but I don't think they hired an entirely new composer per se.
And what's with the thumbs down lol everybody, even the guy who made this video admits goldeneye's score was weak and Bond films set a high standard.
jomo999 2 years ago
@jomo999 all the bond scores sound exactly the same except what serra did at it was pretty cool because it broke out of the old worn out mold

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This music lacks the Goldeneye feel, and sounds too grandious and dramatic.
Besides, I think it's pretty respectless towards the original composer to post videos like this.
Laurelindo 3 years ago
It's only an experiment. Just because he's tried something new doesn't mean the original wasn't just as good.
I'm personally strongly reminded of Arnold's scores.

then dont watch it. its that simple.
jvrcarrasco1990 2 years ago 3
I just stated a quick opinion.
Seriously, Goldeneye is supposed to be dark and cold, not dramatic and grand.
This music just doesn't fit the atmosphere in the movie.
It might be good for more light-hearted Bond movies, sure, but not Goldeneye.
Laurelindo 2 years ago
I don't think that was the point of this guys composition.

-The music level is slightly too high. It feels like the music is overpowering the action a bit. Of course this might be on purpose since it's a showcase for your work.

Again though, fantastic work!
