did this one come with the better gold then the non full burst mode cuz i know one comes in a a better gold then the other but i forger witch one it is
Im not sure if anyone's said it already, but for the Funnels/Dragoons, all you need to do in order to make them display properly is to bend them way less than the actual angle you want them to bend in. That way gravity will pull them down to exactly how you want it to look
@Andrestu Yes. Like Hi-crap. I never use the awful clear parts and the other stuff. FBM and MG HI-NU both are a big waste of money. But, you can get the normal MG SF version and paint it. Hi-NU? no. Destiny? only for the wings? NOOOO - no.
You are supposed to put the clear parts for the dragoons in the freezer for something like 15 minutes and it will make the plastic very stiff and strong so they wont flop around as much.
RRobbert, have you tried replacing those clear rod fot the FBM with metal rod? I saw one of these kits once that someone did that. He bent the rod just like you did, painted them black and said he's had no issues.
Yeah but the whole point of rrobbert complaining about this is that he is basically complaining about how bandai should have thought ahead and did better.
for the effect rods it's best to bend them above a lit candle to slightly melt them so that they are easier to manipulate and once you bent them at the correct position, run it under the tap to cool it instantly
Robert, i didn't have any problem with the dragoon effect parts; The shoulders are fine; I've never had any problems with this kit. Its great too when you put it together since everything fits so solidly. I'll admit that the cheap gold looks really bad, but its not like its that much work to paint it when its still on the runner.
@surpremekingjudai half of your MG was crap, the other half was brilliant LOL xD btw, can i borrow your nippers on a semi-permanent basis during summer if i need it??
I agree with people here that the contents of the kit doesn't justify its price as it is as expensive as that of the Ex-S (with a lot more parts), even Destiny FBM has better extra goodies than the SF FBM.
I have bought the SF FBM, what I'm saying is that compare to the extra goodies you will get in buying Destiny FBM. it feels like I'm rip off, the extra goodies of Destiny FBM is way much better than that of the SF FBM.
to "fix" those plastic rods i just cut off about 2 more cm of them and adjusted the angles how you bend them. works like a charm that way but i hate that this doesnt work well out of the box...
but all in all im happy with this kit. the suit itself without the backback has awesome articulation and the accessoires are great! only the backpack sucks a little because it makes it so backheavy and because the wings are always collapsing on me...
but still, i love it because it was my first kit!^^
The cheapo gold that people are complaining about in SF is probably an acquired taste, I mean when I bought this kit, I have a chance to look at all the runners one by one to see if there is any missing runners or parts and bought thinking how I'm very excited to built it. What I'm surprise about is when I started browsing videos in youtube and watch as there are actually people complaining about it. As I've never had an issue with it. The issue I have with this kit is with the stickers.
the same for PG Strike Freedom, I just bought it last week and plans to built it next month for my birthday. I'm actually very excited to the fact the we have 3 colors of gold, that should make the frame look good with the variety the gold it has.
Personally got the Regular One when it is on discount last year with 30th anniversary clear parts, because : 1. Already got the Rx-93 Hi-Nu with the clear rods 2. Got the clear MG action base & 3. for the ugly simple reason of the Gold plated parts that left awful cutting marks. Beside that it is one of my three favor MS along with Sazabi & GP02A :D
the kit is rather dissapointing in comparison to the Cost for what you get they really could have done a better job on the gold plating even some nogrades have more gold plating :S
The only real complaint I have is that not all the parts on the plated runners are undergated, especially on the wing parts, and their marks show. So I had to paint those parts carefully too.
I didn't mind buying this version. I bought it with the intention of painting it anyways, so that's a quarter less work. And I could use an Action Base, this time, exclusively in dark clear blue. Otherwise, the plastic rods and the plastic poster stay in their plastic bags. But they're still nice additions.
When I first saw this kit, It was a must have kit bc the gundam was gold and i enjoyed freedom. But after me and my friend built this kit, it was a dissapointment bc the gold was not all shiny gold and in the booster it was not red, we had to paint this in and paint the blue on the guns. So I agree with rrobbert184 on this kit, why couldnt bandi went a little extra for the color parts.
I will make a quick spoiler the pg has the same trouble on color.
Some parts on this are incredibly fragile, and will snap easily. It's almost super annoying with the different toned gold parts if you don't paint them. Bandai skips out where then can though. *sigh*
i built this kit a while ago, it was a great kit but yeh definitely was annoyed about the different 'golds'.
also with under bend the rods so that whe nthe dragoons are on they bend it a bit more ... wel lthats what i did anyway :)
i hated the wings ... that opening mechanism is unreliable because the plastice inside that holds the wings' rotation is soft and easily snaps if the wings dont open the way their supposed to once. then that pivot point snaps and none of the wings spread properly.
i got this kit when it came out and i was happy when i finished the kit. i was all like "cool looking gundam" then the weight issues started showing just 2 days after i built the kit. and just as rob said be careful with the wings cause mine broke after 1 opening. dont use the stand that came with the regular version it topples easy. also the feet get loose and weak quick so use the bigger action base.im just glad mine was on sale when i got it. did a custom paint job too.white, purple, and gray.
Thank you for the review. Now I realize that this Special Edition of Strike Freedom won't meet my expectation. I would rather pick the regular version.
@oyametalicusII Unless I've been mistaken for years superglue is only useful for bonding separate pieces together. The problem Robert is having is that the rods are too soft and bend under the weight of the dragoons.
@Downloadfreak uhm...superglue is also good for strengthening rods like this effect parts....never tried that once but that's what naturally is gonna happen....well, I'm not referring to the whole rod, I was just referring to the part of the rod which is "gay", so to speak.....
@oyametalicusII Hmm - I suppose that it would work if messing up the rod's clear finish isn't an issue. Either way Bandai could have avoided this altogether with pre-molded bent rods, they seem to have cut a lot of corners on this kit.
I suggest to coat the parts painted with Gundam marker gold, the color itself will become rusty looking or something by time(by few weeks if I remember correctly).
You know, I've actually not had any problems with the effect parts on my Strike Freedom Full Burst. I think the trick is to not bend them exactly to what manual says. Other than that, I think the SF is an excellent kit.
My clear rods have also stayed in place. Not sure what differences caused the bending in yours robert. I have heard of some people heating them before bending them because that could definitely cause them to bend in unwanted places. I hope that wasn't you.
I think it's a waste to buy this one. They might as well have just dropped those retarded pipes and effect parts and just used the rest on making the whole inner frame the same gold. I could care less about the gimmicks just because I only buy gundams for posing as decorations, well maybe some playing...
how does everyone break the wings? ive messed with mine plenty of times and there fine o_o unless they hold the bottom wing and lift the top one.. that would probally break it xD
@xSkye629x ahhh. I cant say i havent broken things on my gunpla (or I would be dirty liar) but never strike haha, but It really would suck to break those wings
Man, you said it was easy to mess up the wings if you didn't follow the instructions. But what can you miss? I know I built it right and the first time I opened the wings, one worked but eventually got loose. The other stop half way and I had to force it open, breaking it.
my clear rods have not moved at all, neither have the wings, everything on mine just sits where I want it, I think its about angles that counter the weight
im gonna get the regular strike freedom eventually, and spray the whole inner frame with a top coat a chrome gold spray paint, i could care less for the action base with the fin funnel dragoon things becus i would not ever pose it with that. looks like a descent model kit.
Does anyone have any substitutes for the clear rods for the DRAGOONs?
I think I'm going to use the gold pen from when I make my PG SF. I does definitely improve on the "puke gold". Such a shame the PG has the same thing as MG.
