@anth1201 yes i think you would like it because if you never played a FF game then FF13 is a real good game to start playing FF games. the game uses a different battle system thats real easy now (you just have to select "AUTO BATTLE" the whole time) and you control only one caracter from the 3 caracters during a battle in this FF too. and most important its real cheap in price now deffinately worth its money m8

It's ok if you didn't like this game. It's ok if you like this game. But for guys like me, who have an unconditional love for Final Fantasy, each game is absolutely amazing and always touches the heart. It never disappoints. :) the only exception is Final Fantasy II. FUCK that game. XD
this game is really good. one thing they SHOULD improve on, is the in game combat. i mean, come on, its like playing chess. if they added better combat, something where you press a certain button and it does a specific move would be much better and would add to the experience, instead of the sometimes confusing interface, which while the combat is addicting at times, gives you no freedom, and takes away from the game, and shows you the game had much more potential.but still best game ever made.

I find it amusing that somehow linear gameplay has become so looked down upon when non linear gameplay always provides bullshit enemy spawns, I can't say there is even one non linear game where getting screwed over by a roll of the dice and getting killed by a lucky spawn has ever made me enjoy the experience. Plus, linear allows the developer to tailor the game to certain things that they want you to do, non linear provides options that aren't always even useful.

This game is alright. The combat is kind of boring I think, all you have to do is keep pressing autoattack and the rest is switching paradigms. I absolutely HATED the fact that there's NO variety in skills. There's nothing outside of the basic elemental attacks other than a non elemental one. But the characters and artwork are nice, the summons are really lame i think.. shiva turns into a motorcycle... There's definitely not alot of freedom in this game at all but i love the characters vanille 2
The emotional storyline and powerful music is what makes all FINAL FANTASY games unique. No other game has the power to change people's lives. If only all games in the world were like FINAL FANTASY...the world would be a much better place. SQUARE ENIX is undoubtedly, the best game developer and publisher in the world!

A kid running around with a key as a sword and disney characters following him around like dogs? Yeah, sounds terrible... but Kh is one of my fav. games. The gameplay's kinda 'linear'... though, the story's as complicated as this game's.
Most of you seem to criticize the game in a wrong way because you haven't even played the full game. Many people would have just played the first few hours of the game and then thought it was too boring or not exciting. No one should criticize any game until they have finished it. Many features of this game are unlocked later on, instead of in the beginning. In my opinion, all FINAL FANTASY games definitely have the best story. Plus the graphics are simply amazing, and it is an awesome RPG.
I have to disagree, Vanille is just optimistic because underneath her sunny exterior her life is just damned depressing, her voice-overs are so soulful, and her optimism just kept the team going.
Hope on the other hand is nothing but a whinny little kid, yes he went through trauma but COME ON, never has the phrase "MAN UP" been more appropriate, quit with the bitching Hope and get on with it

Mind you, most of Final Fantasy X was quite linear until you got near the the end. And FF X was at least one of the best if not the best FF game. I have yet to fully play FF XIII, but I have played a portion of it at guf and when I get a ps3 I will definitely buy it. I understand it may not be the best FF game, but it is still a great game and a lot of though has still been put into the game.
This game is classified in the role playing game genre, but it is feeling more like an action adventure type of game instead. The story is okay, the visuals are really nice, and the battle and menu system are top notch. Its not that I'm not open to new features of game to player interaction. It's just that I feel they took away the RPG part of final fantasy with this installment-
I hate this game. I'm in chapter 11, I believe, just back from Gran Pulse. It's hilarious to find that the whole time I was on Gran Pulse was for NO REASON. You don't find out anything about Gran Pulse or further any understanding about what you're doing. I'm forcing myself to finish it because I love Final Fantasy as a series and I can't leave the game unfinished. I bought the PS3 instead of the X Box JUST for this game and I am so disappointed. Not a good Final Fantasy, not even a decent one.

@benimo6 Yeah, I think it's easy to like any Final Fantasy when it's your first. The series is creative and beautiful. It sucks for me when I have played FFVI and up including side games like Tactics. I'm used to recurring themes so I'm expecting more than you from the new games. Unfortunately, Old Schoolers like me probably will not like FFXIII.
@cherrypandaz dude ive played most all the final fantasy's (except for 5 and 6) ive played most of the spin offs too, and i liked this game, it was kinda like a mixture between the original battle system of final fantasy and modern RPGs, the only complaint i had about it was the fact that when the character you are controlling dies its gameover :P, but other than that, i thought the game had a great story, it was a great game for me over all :P

Well i don't know about you guys, but i only played Final Fantasy Crisis Core, FFX, and 5 hours into FFXIII, and i get attached to the story line (emotionally). Cried in both Crisis Core and FFX at the end and im a guy xD. SO peoples dont hate on such amazing games that takes such wide and huge imagination to create. :)
@cosmicaler It's just cause of her voice and personality. Mostly the former in my opinion. Her voice is very high pitched and sounds like she can't decide on which accent she wants so it's like different accents put into one. Also her personality is somewhat too cheerful. I really don't have a problem with her characterization but it's her voice that I can't seem to put up with. But I still like her character though.
You know, I think it's just as important that people highlight what sucks about this game as well as what excels, I was personally disappointed by it, I thought it was a shameless case of 'let's try and copy FF7 but fail' - but I can appreciate where is was successful, just because somebody says they don't like it, doesn't mean they're 'trollin'' - just let people way what they wanna say - surely that's the crux of a 'review'?
Not their fault they had to downgrade ffxiii's gameplay for the xbox. They had an entirely greater and advanced battle system to the game. But the next Final fantasy (versus, Not xii-2) will be a ps3 exclusive and will have the advanced battle system ff xiii was supposed to get. Hence why its named VERSUS. Have Hope. Even though this game wasn't as good as to the other Final fantasy games i still liked it. I got attached to its story entirely.

Alright let's be right and simple, I baught FF XIII 2 weeks ago to give it a chance and all I gotta say is that it is the worst final fantasy I have played. At the beggining the game was interesting but then afterwerds the gameplay turned repeative. This is what you do from the beggining of the game to end- you run down a linear boring path fight some enemies see a cutscene run some more, cutscene, boss fight, than cutscene again. I'll admit that the story wasn't that bad, the gameplay is good,
@MrToezteh but gets boring after a while. I know that FFX had no world map either but it was still X times better than XIII. The leveing up system seems like a more annoying version of the sphere grid. You can only equip weapons(7 hours in the game and I only have two weapong for each character WTF?)and accersories. The other thing it that you don't get any gil after battle, forcing you to stay with one weapon and upgrade it. Bottom line this game is not for a FF fan. So FFXIII fans STFU. =D
I still don't understand why people hate on Vanille so much. :( She's so cute and cheerful, and really... that's all just a mask for how she feels on the inside. During the entire game, she has so much guilt weighing on her. :( I always thought her scenes were the most touching.
XIII is a good game when you dont compare it to the other series. Its really unfair because 6 through 12 are masterpieces. I think FF fans are little spoiled.

@dandynood I'll admit that I'm a huge JRPG (and FF) fan, but it's not the nostalgia that makes me think that this is the wrong direction for the franchise to move in.It's the removal of much loved RPG standards, such as: a proper weapon system, armour, great variety in the battles, loads of side-stories that the player MUST encounter and plenty of other things. Not exactly fun.
The music is great, especially in Oerba, the graphics are amazing and the characters are mostly interesting.

FFXIII? Confusing story, mono-emotional characters, no sense of adventure, linear leveling system, so-so battle system, horrible weapon/character customization, absolutely no replay value. I love how people bitch about the exploration when this game was CLEARLY not designed for exploration it was designed for story and to be pretty as fuck. If you can't deal with your favourite game series changing you need to go back and replay the old ones. @dilt4 Today i played FFXIII and then i played FFIX...They need to replay the old ones and mix both somehow because FFIX is just incredibly pretty even with PS1 gaphics. The artistic value is just incredible and FXIII has nothing on that game. And things are hapenning constantly, in FFXIII you get thrown into corridors to do a shitload of fights for no reason...I liked FXIII but it isn't as magic as the old ones, not by far.
This is a game for the patient, the people who dislike it are either people who experience the game glitch which prevents them from moving ahead and have to start from scratch or those who do not have enough patience to enjoy the art and feeling expressed in the Final Fantasy stories.
So in conclusion: Some people like Ninja Gaiden (fast paced) gameplay, and some like Final Fantasy gameplay..... then some are in the middle and like games with a bit of both... (Like Mass Effect).
I lost interest in the FF series when FFXII came out but decided to give this another chance. I think its not too bad if your not expecting typical FF content.
I've never played it myself but the gameplay looks really fun and yes, the visuals are incredible. However, the story easily confused me since I never understood it and I only like 1 character from the game itself. So it looks fun, yes but it at the same time... it just doesn't feel right to me.
@jaktje Like every other FF it's quite linear but the story is nice and the characters aren't bad except for one. The combat is awesome though. I would try to borrow it or rent it first. I've beaten it twice (keep in mind it's about 50-60 hours long) and there are dull parts but overall it's great.

I mean I loved FFXIII, but I definitely found a lot to hate on too. You should never have a game sold to you by friends with the points : 1)you'll love everyone by the end and 2) the map opens up a lot after 20 hours. Seriously, that's a fail right there. Then again, I was coming in right off of FFXII, comparatively the character development felt nice, but the map was cringe worthy.

Great game imo, but has some flaws which SE is addressing in the sequel.
XIII-2: Crystarium not story capped, 100% optional sidequest from beginning, casino, mini games, towns(not sure how many),alternate character clothes, change pt leader in battle, and much more.
True fans see the beauty in these games, or at least understand the exact reason a game was released in the state it was (I.e. XIV). All I expect from FF is a great story, and I got it with XIII. The series is known for changing with each installment, so I wasn't mad at it for being different. I quite enjoyed this game, looking forward to the next one.

There are no towns here, no NPCs, no actual stores, no free roaming whatsoever (with the exception of a field in the middle of the game where you're basicly just supposed to fight big monsters), characters looks like re-used FF characters, the story is a mess. Only things good in this game are the visuals, the music and maybe the battle system. This is by far the weakest game of the franchise. Not a bad game - but a really disappointing one.
The cast is l'Cie. They're like former nazis turned into jewish. They live in a world of nazis. The whole world hates them. They have marks that distinguish them from the other people. Now tell me: how can there be any "store", town or whatever you say in a game in which you play as, let's say, the worlds enemy. And there are NPCs (NON-PLAYABLE Characters), you do have stores(not the same in previous games but there has to be differences)
@ps3fanforever Not sure I like the analogy, but it does make a point. What do we count as NPC's b.t.w? I feel like I may be taking that term too loosely since I feel like there were quite a few NPC's in the story line and wandering some of the later maps.
B.t.w. what is with the shop in this game? It felt like the merchant in RE4. You were glad it was there, but you had no idea how it even go to the surface of Pulse in the first place. I know I know, don't think on it too much.

Sorry, over thinking it, but seeing the same save station on Pulse just made my mind go in so many hilarious directions. I think the save station was stalking us all! ha ha!
@kurvos I would actually go a step further and knock the battle system while we're at it. Not gonna lie, I felt incredibly far away from the battle control wise. Not that you had to use auto battle but the speed this game was demanding was ridiculous for how many attacks you have in the list by the end.
@ps3fanforever I did, but again, I wasn't thrilled with the battle system, I was really interested in being told a story (yeah, I'm that type of gamer, but whatever, it takes all kinds) Anyway, yeah, I used haste a lot, but I also played a lot of 9 and 12 before 13 so I was used to a much slower ATB gauge than the original speed for this one. If you have never dealt with FF9 that ATB gauge is SLOW, seriously you had to wait for it to be ready, not the other way around.
@tailsachu Believe it or not, I bought IX in PSN (Only FF I haven't played yet, along with XI and XIV) and haven't tried it. I just find the cast to be a little silly and the game itself looks a bit childish.
Anyway, haste is actually for having more speed if you want to, it's not mandatory, and as far as I know, you can change the speed ATB gauges' speed if you want to :P
@ps3fanforever I think FFIX was supposed to be childish, it was part of the charm, the story actually gets kind of heavy around the end though.
And I know Haste isn't mandatory, this isn't my first Final Fantasy. I used to love that spell since I could go more often, now I just like it because I can end the battles faster. Like I said, I didn't like battles in XIII, but you need to grind for levels occasionally so the more battles over less time was my goal, just didn't like that battle system.
@kurvos There is free roaming. In case there isn't, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus didn't have either. The cast is good, and the story isn't a mess. Please don't come up saying "It was a main series game". It doesn't matter. It's still another Final Fantasy game. Many people think it's one of the best FF ones.
Absolutely love this game. I go into each final fantasy game not expecting anything except an immersive story. This has that. Its gameplay is awesome, yes it is different than old final fantasies but it intricasies and differences lie within its tactics. U cant have one character doing everything...its all about teamwork and adapting ur strategy to the fights. I got this game yesterday and I love it. Yeah some characters are cheesy, but that's the point in JRPGs. Characters are corny but likeable. At least Vanille is always positive to lighten the seriousness of the story. The graphics are probably the best I have seen ever on the Xbox 360. The gameplay is awesome and the linear world helps the player focus on the main story, which is what Square Enix wanted. I highly recommeded this game but you also need to have a tolerance for the corny characters.
I love this game, I beat it 3 times already. I just wish there were towns that you can do mini games or explore in like all of the other final fantasy games. It just saddens me :| I honestly wouldnt care about it being linear if there were towns!

It's ok if you didn't like this game. It's ok if you like this game. But for guys like me, who have an unconditional love for Final Fantasy, each game is absolutely amazing and always touches the heart. It never disappoints. :) the only exception is Final Fantasy II. FUCK that game. XD

this game is really good. one thing they SHOULD improve on, is the in game combat. i mean, come on, its like playing chess. if they added better combat, something where you press a certain button and it does a specific move would be much better and would add to the experience, instead of the sometimes confusing interface, which while the combat is addicting at times, gives you no freedom, and takes away from the game, and shows you the game had much more potential.but still best game ever made.

I find it amusing that somehow linear gameplay has become so looked down upon when non linear gameplay always provides bullshit enemy spawns, I can't say there is even one non linear game where getting screwed over by a roll of the dice and getting killed by a lucky spawn has ever made me enjoy the experience. Plus, linear allows the developer to tailor the game to certain things that they want you to do, non linear provides options that aren't always even useful.

This game is alright. The combat is kind of boring I think, all you have to do is keep pressing autoattack and the rest is switching paradigms. I absolutely HATED the fact that there's NO variety in skills. There's nothing outside of the basic elemental attacks other than a non elemental one. But the characters and artwork are nice, the summons are really lame i think.. shiva turns into a motorcycle... There's definitely not alot of freedom in this game at all but i love the characters vanille 2

Most of you seem to criticize the game in a wrong way because you haven't even played the full game. Many people would have just played the first few hours of the game and then thought it was too boring or not exciting. No one should criticize any game until they have finished it. Many features of this game are unlocked later on, instead of in the beginning. In my opinion, all FINAL FANTASY games definitely have the best story. Plus the graphics are simply amazing, and it is an awesome RPG.

I have to disagree, Vanille is just optimistic because underneath her sunny exterior her life is just damned depressing, her voice-overs are so soulful, and her optimism just kept the team going.
Hope on the other hand is nothing but a whinny little kid, yes he went through trauma but COME ON, never has the phrase "MAN UP" been more appropriate, quit with the bitching Hope and get on with it

Not sure what this has to do with CoD, but I don't really like CoD either, I never actually played CoD coz I was busy playing Modern Warfare 2... Mind you, most of Final Fantasy X was quite linear until you got near the the end. And FF X was at least one of the best if not the best FF game. I have yet to fully play FF XIII, but I have played a portion of it at guf and when I get a ps3 I will definitely buy it. I understand it may not be the best FF game, but it is still a great game and a lot of though has still been put into the game.

I hate this game. I'm in chapter 11, I believe, just back from Gran Pulse. It's hilarious to find that the whole time I was on Gran Pulse was for NO REASON. You don't find out anything about Gran Pulse or further any understanding about what you're doing. I'm forcing myself to finish it because I love Final Fantasy as a series and I can't leave the game unfinished. I bought the PS3 instead of the X Box JUST for this game and I am so disappointed. Not a good Final Fantasy, not even a decent one.

It sucks for me when I have played FFVI and up including side games like Tactics. I'm used to recurring themes so I'm expecting more than you from the new games. @cherrypandaz dude ive played most all the final fantasy's (except for 5 and 6) ive played most of the spin offs too, and i liked this game, it was kinda like a mixture between the original battle system of final fantasy and modern RPGs, the only complaint i had about it was the fact that when the character you are controlling dies its gameover :P, but other than that, i thought the game had a great story, it was a great game for me over all :P

Cried in both Crisis Core and FFX at the end and im a guy xD. SO peoples dont hate on such amazing games that takes such wide and huge imagination to create. :)

Her voice is very high pitched and sounds like she can't decide on which accent she wants so it's like different accents put into one. Also her personality is somewhat too cheerful. I really don't have a problem with her characterization but it's her voice that I can't seem to put up with. But I still like her character though.

Not their fault they had to downgrade ffxiii's gameplay for the xbox. They had an entirely greater and advanced battle system to the game. But the next Final fantasy (versus, Not xii-2) will be a ps3 exclusive and will have the advanced battle system ff xiii was supposed to get. Hence why its named VERSUS. Have Hope. Even though this game wasn't as good as to the other Final fantasy games i still liked it. I got attached to its story entirely.

Alright let's be right and simple, I baught FF XIII 2 weeks ago to give it a chance and all I gotta say is that it is the worst final fantasy I have played. At the beggining the game was interesting but then afterwerds the gameplay turned repeative. This is what you do from the beggining of the game to end- you run down a linear boring path fight some enemies see a cutscene run some more, cutscene, boss fight, than cutscene again. I'll admit that the story wasn't that bad, the gameplay is good,

The leveing up system seems like a more annoying version of the sphere grid. You can only equip weapons(7 hours in the game and I only have two weapong for each character WTF?)and accersories. The other thing it that you don't get any gil after battle, forcing you to stay with one weapon and upgrade it. Bottom line this game is not for a FF fan. So FFXIII fans STFU. =D

@dandynood I'll admit that I'm a huge JRPG (and FF) fan, but it's not the nostalgia that makes me think that this is the wrong direction for the franchise to move in.It's the removal of much loved RPG standards, such as: a proper weapon system, armour, great variety in the battles, loads of side-stories that the player MUST encounter and plenty of other things. Not exactly fun.
The music is great, especially in Oerba, the graphics are amazing and the characters are mostly interesting.

this whole game was just awful, it really bothers me how any fan of the series can say it is anything but terrible. there is essentially no character depth or development. the combat system is the lazyiest thing i have ever seen. why think when pressing x already gives you the best combo. ff fucked up when they turned away from turn base, there was nothing wrong with it. the moment enix bought square it was all over

@dilt4 Today i played FFXIII and then i played FFIX...They need to replay the old ones and mix both somehow because FFIX is just incredibly pretty even with PS1 gaphics. The artistic value is just incredible and FXIII has nothing on that game. And things are hapenning constantly, in FFXIII you get thrown into corridors to do a shitload of fights for no reason...I liked FXIII but it isn't as magic as the old ones, not by far.

This is a game for the patient, the people who dislike it are either people who experience the game glitch which prevents them from moving ahead and have to start from scratch or those who do not have enough patience to enjoy the art and feeling expressed in the Final Fantasy stories.
So in conclusion: Some people like Ninja Gaiden (fast paced) gameplay, and some like Final Fantasy gameplay..... then some are in the middle and like games with a bit of both... (Like Mass Effect).

I don't know, I kinda disagree.
I've never played it myself but the gameplay looks really fun and yes, the visuals are incredible. However, the story easily confused me since I never understood it and I only like 1 character from the game itself. So it looks fun, yes but it at the same time... it just doesn't feel right to me.

@jaktje Like every other FF it's quite linear but the story is nice and the characters aren't bad except for one. The combat is awesome though. I would try to borrow it or rent it first. I've beaten it twice (keep in mind it's about 50-60 hours long) and there are dull parts but overall it's great.

Fun battles? What game were they playing? Battles on that game are tedium, I'm just glad when they're over.
I mean I loved FFXIII, but I definitely found a lot to hate on too. You should never have a game sold to you by friends with the points : 1)you'll love everyone by the end and 2) the map opens up a lot after 20 hours. Seriously, that's a fail right there. Then again, I was coming in right off of FFXII, comparatively the character development felt nice, but the map was cringe worthy.

Cloud is an annoying emo blonde.Tifa has giant boobs,probably the only interesting thing about her.Barret is way too angry.Yuffie is annoying (She steals your materia!I can't forgive her xD).Cait Sith is useless.Red XIII, well...there isn't much to say about him.I find Aerith to be somewhat useless, her limit breaks are the only good thing of her.Cid and Vincent are probably the best ones. Great game imo, but has some flaws which SE is addressing in the sequel.
XIII-2: Crystarium not story capped, 100% optional sidequest from beginning, casino, mini games, towns(not sure how many),alternate character clothes, change pt leader in battle, and much more.

True fans see the beauty in these games, or at least understand the exact reason a game was released in the state it was (I.e. XIV). All I expect from FF is a great story, and I got it with XIII. The series is known for changing with each installment, so I wasn't mad at it for being different. I quite enjoyed this game, looking forward to the next one.

@MegaShadowrunner Well reasoned, although I didn't enjoy XIII as much as some of the others, I approached it with an open mind and it was a worthwhile experience. You'll have your individual favoruites anyway, so if I didn't get as much from this game as I did to past games, it could just be that. Or the fact that I hate Serah... xD I prefer the squaresoft games, but i'm not going to turn my back on the future of the franchise, i may miss out on something great that way.

@kurvos Yeah...you are. Just because you cant stop and speak with a few creatures doesn't make this game any more linear than any other Final Fantasy game. This game DOES have a worthy spot in this franchise, and calling people that think so have just as many brain cells. This game is just as amazing as any other entry. Unless it has a sequel, none of these games should be compared. So maybe I have one brain cell, like you said. I can be humble about it. You're ignorant.

There are no towns here, no NPCs, no actual stores, no free roaming whatsoever (with the exception of a field in the middle of the game where you're basicly just supposed to fight big monsters), characters looks like re-used FF characters, the story is a mess. Only things good in this game are the visuals, the music and maybe the battle system. This is by far the weakest game of the franchise. Not a bad game - but a really disappointing one.

The cast is l'Cie. They're like former nazis turned into jewish. They live in a world of nazis. The whole world hates them. They have marks that distinguish them from the other people. Now tell me: how can there be any "store", town or whatever you say in a game in which you play as, let's say, the worlds enemy. And there are NPCs (NON-PLAYABLE Characters), you do have stores(not the same in previous games but there has to be differences)

@ps3fanforever Not sure I like the analogy, but it does make a point. What do we count as NPC's b.t.w? I feel like I may be taking that term too loosely since I feel like there were quite a few NPC's in the story line and wandering some of the later maps.
B.t.w. what is with the shop in this game? It felt like the merchant in RE4. You were glad it was there, but you had no idea how it even go to the surface of Pulse in the first place. I know I know, don't think on it too much.

@tailsachu Well, non-playable characters are basically minor or major characters in the storyline that aren't playable. About the shops...leave that useless argument to haters or so. If they're in Gran Pulse, well, afterall it is called Final Fantasy :P

Sorry, over thinking it, but seeing the same save station on Pulse just made my mind go in so many hilarious directions. I think the save station was stalking us all! ha ha!

@kurvos I would actually go a step further and knock the battle system while we're at it. Not gonna lie, I felt incredibly far away from the battle control wise. Not that you had to use auto battle but the speed this game was demanding was ridiculous for how many attacks you have in the list by the end.

@ps3fanforever I did, but again, I wasn't thrilled with the battle system, I was really interested in being told a story (yeah, I'm that type of gamer, but whatever, it takes all kinds) Anyway, yeah, I used haste a lot, but I also played a lot of 9 and 12 before 13 so I was used to a much slower ATB gauge than the original speed for this one. If you have never dealt with FF9 that ATB gauge is SLOW, seriously you had to wait for it to be ready, not the other way around.

@tailsachu Believe it or not, I bought IX in PSN (Only FF I haven't played yet, along with XI and XIV) and haven't tried it. I just find the cast to be a little silly and the game itself looks a bit childish.
Anyway, haste is actually for having more speed if you want to, it's not mandatory, and as far as I know, you can change the speed ATB gauges' speed if you want to :P

@ps3fanforever I think FFIX was supposed to be childish, it was part of the charm, the story actually gets kind of heavy around the end though.
And I know Haste isn't mandatory, this isn't my first Final Fantasy. I used to love that spell since I could go more often, now I just like it because I can end the battles faster. Like I said, I didn't like battles in XIII, but you need to grind for levels occasionally so the more battles over less time was my goal, just didn't like that battle system.

@kurvos There is free roaming. In case there isn't, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus didn't have either. The cast is good, and the story isn't a mess. Please don't come up saying "It was a main series game". It doesn't matter. It's still another Final Fantasy game. Many people think it's one of the best FF ones.

Absolutely love this game. I go into each final fantasy game not expecting anything except an immersive story. This has that. Its gameplay is awesome, yes it is different than old final fantasies but it intricasies and differences lie within its tactics. U cant have one character doing everything...its all about teamwork and adapting ur strategy to the fights. @PyroLord185 that, and relying on the auto command isn't always good. sometimes the game will heal one character over another character, which isn't always good when your tank is almost dead and you're stuck healing your commando because of the auto command..

I got this game yesterday and I love it. Yeah some characters are cheesy, but that's the point in JRPGs. Characters are corny but likeable. At least Vanille is always positive to lighten the seriousness of the story. The graphics are probably the best I have seen ever on the Xbox 360. The gameplay is awesome and the linear world helps the player focus on the main story, which is what Square Enix wanted. I highly recommeded this game but you also need to have a tolerance for the corny characters.

I love this game, I beat it 3 times already. I just wish there were towns that you can do mini games or explore in like all of the other final fantasy games. It just saddens me :| I honestly wouldnt care about it being linear if there were towns!

@vanabe If you don't like FFXIII that's fine, but don't say it's an epic fail because for the rest of people it's not I think this is the best FF ever, yes i have played all FF, so i don't understand the problems in this game, i love the characters , the graphics, gameplay, stroy, everything, and i am glad they didn't put tedious minigames like X in which you had to do a race in chocobo within 0:00 time.

Like I said, we had 18 returns in just 1 Gamestop shop.
If you dont understand the problems in this game, I doubt you have played all FF games.
FF13 throw everything away from what was known in previous FF titles, and comes out as a single character RPG 1 button smashing game.

@vanabe many of my friends who i have recomended the game and they NEVER played a rpg before and they loved it the story, the characters and the gameplay. to sad if there were some people that say that the game is bad and i know true ff fans and they like it because its diferent, i played ff7, ff6, ff1, ff4 and the after years and this one along ff6 are my favorites. to bad if someone can enyoy this as i do

@TheFinal360 You missing the point... In FF13, your smashing a button, so the game chooses the actions for you.
You can watch TV and just smash that 1 button to win a fight.... The game chooses your attacks best suited. Need to cast cures? it does that too.
