Some intense flanging. Sounds like you disrupted some resonant circuits and their lower Q caused their voltages to vary over time. It makes me wonder why they chose the original sound as the "right" one.

drum machines are for wanna be's with no or very little penis'. all you that find this video interesting, exciting or just enjoying watching it: GET OFF THE COMPUTER! STOP BEING A DRUM WANNA BE!
I'll give you credit for experimenting with sound. Thats pushing boundaries and thats a good thing. Even though most of this sound doesn't agree with me, but my ears are only one set of around 6 billion! Carry on.
if saying that makes you feel somehow superior, then go on. say whatever you want. but I can already tell that you are a simple minded teen who likes to fight over the internet, just remember fighting on the internet doesnt get you anywere in life so go get a fucking job or sommthing usefull
why don't you tell us how you really feel. The point is you think inside of the box and most likely live a vanilla life, no offense. Music is art, sometimes art is abstract. Get it yet?
Just sounds like distortion to me, usally musicians try not to make those sorts of noises as it sounds aufal, can any of you bent guys actually play these machines so they sound like drums?
I'm building another right now, it will have an Atari joystick control as well as 8 dpst switches. Send me your email and I'll let you know before I list it on eBay!
I have a decent background in audio electronics and since synths already exist, circuit bending is pretty pointless. Besides, you're a jackass just for comparing this annoyance to electric guitar..seriously, stop posting before you hurt yourself.
Actually building basic transistor and op amp based low output amplifiers suitable for preamps will be an easier and better place to start. From there you step up to active filters, compression and time based modulation effects. Eventually you might even build an analog synth....
"Don't have a decent background in electronics to get started" Absolutely. This is antitheory. And it's more about art than text book formula. Combine it with the knowledge you speak of and hardware hacking comes into play. Anyone can bend. Anyone can build a 555 oscillator. The difference being that ten identical machines bent in different ways far outweighs the sonic diversity of ten 555's wired in slightly different ways. Lo-fi f**kery.... The 'punk' spirit of the electronic genre.
Wow, how utterly useless. Circuit bending is the dumbest thing to have ever come along, it's just useless band pass filters to make noise. Of all the circuits you could take the time to build, these are by far the most useless and basic.
Some musicians who have been at it for a while get tired of the same old sounds, time signatures, etc. this breaks the monoteny in a major way. i use some of the sounds on hip hop tracks, some I just really enjoy the random nature of. Mostly I just make horrible horrible noise that my friends and I enjoy.
I just sold this machine to a cat in Florida, he seems to enjoy it.
So you use this for harsh noise and noisecore n' shit? If so, cool.

hey i got given one of these, not modded though just a standard model. is it worth anything?
maxheadroom1987 3 years ago
it is worth circuit bending, otherwise about 3-5 bucks at the Flea Market.. a real noise beast, just about every one of the early DD series is good.
potar 3 years ago
i like experimenting, but a lot of that stuff sounded like crap to me...
micp4130 3 years ago 5
spoken like a true Avant Gardist, you should step outside of the crap you normally listen to.

i often do, but this just didn't really work for me... but i gave a try, that gotta count for something...

No real art in it, just a mess of mixed up ideas and theories that dont make sense or have any entertianment value at all...
