The Dismantling of the Diversity Policy in Wake County, NC

They have used a socio-economic diversity plan since 2000. Studies done over the last 40 years prove this a concept that works. Students from schools that have a diverse blend of high and low income families tend to be more successful than those who come from schools where the concentration of poverty is high. The most powerful component in the prosperity of a student lies in the mixture of economic backgrounds within their own school. What is wrong with helping out those less fortunate?

Another video on youtube titled Supreme Court Rejects School Diversity Plans

back in 2007 the supreme court said A school can't consider race when deciding which school which kids go to. Race is out as a consideration in making school assignments, they can not use any racial factors when deciding how to assign kids. so this school board actually has the supreme court on its side.

Wake county has 7 high schools. 9 jr high schools and 27 elementary schools yet only 300 people attended this meeting

@freese271 No i don't think that is what they are trying to do. The state of the economy were in, is that schools are getting less and less funding, so i think what has happened is they they just can't afford to bus kids in from so far away so they are basically going to change the map of where kids live in relation to the location of the school, smaller. And if u live outside that map, then u will go to a school that is in the area of where you live.

@freese271 if everyone and their families are concerned that when this happens, that diversity will be lost and it will become an all white school, then what that says to me, is then diversity only take place in the school and not in the neighborhoods in which they live? For it to be an all white school, then only white people live in that area around the school? and all other nationalities live outside the area? where is the diversity in that?

@dav1disradical why? because i want whats best for my siblings, who are still students in the WCPSS? The same school system that I spent 13 years in? The one that I think was and is terrible? It is poorly run and poorly governed.

As far as i can see , this has nothing to do with race . Every race is in every school and there is nothing in place saying that a person of a certain race is not allowed in that school . And what the hell is it by that kid who don't want to turn into a saltine school? Is that school all white ? No Mexicans , Asians , Canadians , or black people ? the school does not block the doors to any of these people.

What a joke. The guy yelling at the start of the video isn't even a Wake County student and doesn't live here. Most of the students there are magnet students who are far more concerned about protecting their special course offerings than they are about diversity.

@Waketruthsayer Not True, no matter how comment sections you post it on -- If you look at other footage and photos from the day from any number of sources, you know that Dante Strobino, the one who was arrested, was up front next to Margiotta. The voice is clearly coming from behind the camera. But keep spinning and turning out those talking points. The sad thing is that even if they're not true, when you repeat them enough, people believe them.
