this might make me sound crazy but i see a blood-stained wall (or wine) with a person nealing in between the weird alter and pedistule. and lastly a cup with a cross on top.
It is of the islands St. Francis Xavier visited in his lifetime. I currently attend the church and the school behind it, and Fr. Mel (recent priest) and Fr. Stan (current priest) say the exact words "it is the islands St. Francis visited when he was alive to preach and teach".
I just see the usual stuff like the challence and junk.
I do see what looks like a chain of lslands.
If you think that the white part is a dog, I would say that that is only an optical illusion because of the white fabric piece with the wheat or whatever on it is supposed to be behind the island thing.
I don't really know, but it does not look like a famous artist did it.
It looks kind of average.
No offence to the artist. I am sure it was a commisioned work.
i could see where you got the dog being struck by lightening, but to me is seems like a spirit ascending (to heaven or w/e). Lightening travels from the group up, so it just seemed to make sense to me that perhaps w/e is at the bottom is rising and ascending to the great unknown. Just me i guess. My first impression was this was just a bunch of random paint splotches. It sort of looks like a map of Japan. On closer examination there is a light colored kneeling figure and a reddish stalk of corn. Who knows what that means.
The X P are the Greek letters Chi Rho which are the first two letters of the word Christ in Greek (CHRISTOS, xpistos). It's a common Catholic logo to mean Jesus.
I'm not too familiar with Greek lore, I follow the Gaelic pantheon as you can probably tell from my screen name. I couldn't see the pic real clearly, but if it is a dog being struck by lightning, my wild guess is it's Sirius (I think he's Greek), maybe he royally pissed Zeus off. Maybe that is an ancient myth that was never written down but was transmitted orally till it was painted. Is this sensible or am I just dumb??? Hellenic isn't my forte.
umm i couldnt really see it too well but i also have something to say in that in the myth i heard hades was not cast out but he zeus and poseidon had played a game of dice and zeus had won so he took the sky and poseidon came next and he took the water and that left hades with the earth/underearth and that is why hades is not in olympus he is too busy torturing the souls of the evil oh and yes i am a hellene too
well, i see the letter P the letter p is also a symbol for pluto. The planet pluto, if im not mistaking is ruled by hades of the underworld. The dog would be called Ceribus the three headed garden dog of hell. acoustiguy explimation makes more sense to me, about it being Japan.
The real thing is a map of Japan. It's the route that St. Francis took during his mission work. but I suppose it can be seen how ever the brain wants it to I look at life with no wrong answers
I Have to admit this matches nothing I have on Greek mythology Hun, I will ask Rev.Henry to take a peek and see, this is more his speed. Blessings to you Nella. Holly )0(
But I do see a map of the Japanese islands. Since St. Francis Xavier evangelized the Far East, including Japan (indirectly I think), that makes some sense.
If you could email me the close up I can analyze it in more detail.
okay St Francis Xavier is the patron saint of missionaries for his work in Ventral and South East Asia. He is associated with a couple different symbols. The corn looking thing is a lily stalk. He is also associated with torches and flames. So I think that accounts for the smoke. I need the image to do anything more with it.
can you email me a copy of the picture. I can't make it out well. Alot of symbols in it I'd like to analyze up close and blown up. but from a distance it looks like smoke coming up from an alter in a city of God. I'd imagine its a scene from new jerusalem. BUt I really can't see it well in the video cos its moving and i can't make out the bottom very well.
i COULD do that, but really, I've looked at it a hundred times, and I got pretty good shots and they show up in the video. That's pretty much it. But, I'll email it to you. (shrug)
to me it looks like a horse or centaur on its hine legs up on steps underneath a branch of a fruit tree thats hanging down and a corn stalk behind him and down in the left corner it looks like flames of some kind... but then looking at it again i also see the face of a little girl or young woman:-)... and yea i kind of do believe that u were meant to see it as a dog or hound being electricuted to give rise to ur beliefs in the greek pantheon:-)
i dont know i see alot of stuff in this picture because then i also see the horned man coming out from behind a wall right next to the horse/centaur's behind.:-)
Well, I can't really say much about the image itself, it just looks like a funky design to me with the symbol for peace and a cross and whatnot. The interesting thing though is that even if one were to look at it in the same sense as a Rorschach ink blot, you interpreted it as a hound being struck by lightning at an early age. Maybe somehow you knew all along where your heart resided in regards to the Gods? *shrugs* Just a thought.

It looks like a female figure standing in a shower, and she seems to be surrounded by phalluses.
Swear to god, that's the first thing I saw.

I examined this pic carefully and, saw no dog or, lightining bolt but, i did see the following:
A headstone which is considered rightfully to be a emblem of death
the greek letters for rebirth that are shown around the Christian Easter I saw a corn stalk having to do with the grain of the harvest
I saw sunlight which representswarmth of the sun and in christianity is Jesus.

I thought the pantheon was a ruined temple
in greece.
however...most wiccan sects,accept only female
initiates....and its usually 2 men who control
the whole thing...not letting other men in.
especially well built hunks like me.:O)
peace.

No ... that is the PARTHENON. Never heard that about Wicca, gee unless you are referring to a specific sect of Wicca.

Really?
I have noticed that most Wiccan males are obese or frail.. social rejects, if you will.
