@p2pat Well, the guy used to do his podcast through a headset on a small sound recorder, on the highway, on his way to work. Yeah... Not the best sound quality, huh? But believe me, it was a good podcast, and its popularity really took off.
Why the grasshopper is lazy/? Why is play his his top priority? Why doesn't he believe the ant...?
Maybe too much ritalin as a child? Too many Percaset as an adult, too much t.v. to numb the ruler induced emotional pains. He's a zombie from the planet Tartazine maybe. The Ant would be like a person who was given good lessons in life from his parents, or from his own seeking, who found the simple things in life to be much more happy making than playing without the surity of eating the next day.

As a grasshopper, you have nothing an ant values with the possible exception of your flesh. You can not hire them. Go back to playing. We've got stuff to do.
Well yeah that's true. It's kind of like we know that in the first version of the Three Little Pigs that that the wolf eats the first 2 little pigs and dies when he falls in the third little pig's cooking pot. But in most versions as we know based on that one The first 2 little pigs run to the third little pig's house and when the wolf climbs down the chimney he just runs away with his tail on fire. Very similer.
If a moral ant stored a bunch of food exc. and "winter" came, the ant wouldn't be able to watch his friend grasshopper starve to death if it had food it could share, regardless of how worthless the grasshopper is. I think the story may have changed to teach children who are the ant types to be compassionate. (or to say the world isn't as cold of a place to the grasshopper types) Perhaps another, less empathic but not evil version of the story could be the ant selling it's food for debt.

@ricky95713 Dude, you are 23. I got the moral of the story when I was something like 7 years old. How is it you don't get it? The moral is not that a moral being couldn't watch his neighbor who is a slacker(sloth is a deadly sin for a reason= amoral) starve. It's not to be a slacker to begin with. As in; there is plenty of time to goof off when the work is done. Carry it further: who in the ants colony does he tell to starve if the portions the slacker ate are needed if Winter goes long?
One thing that always strikes me about our forefathers is how "self-reliant" they were. We are so far removed from their world, it's scary. Thanks, Jack!
A story that every chid should hear and learn from.
On a side note: I didn't realize how much Jack Spirko sounds like Tom Arnold when not seeing him talk. Listen to the story again and you can picture Tom telling this story.
I heard this guy's podcast about a year ago. Since then, I've become a member of his support brigade. -Most of us live in a nation where we have a fragile, weakening financial foundation, importing most of our food now, and living as if the nations who america is in debt to will never call to collect.
Great story for those who do or don't see the future of america.
CD quality means nothing to me if the content is crappy!!!
Jack is a beacon in todays dark times!
Take Care,
John
