You can change the time of a mission, like if you like a mission but its to dark, you can change the time to daylight instead of night time, or in winter instead of summer etc, The "Something" is any physical change in the aircraft or any kind of discharge aka- smoke effect. The Extra 300 has the smoke effect and the P-51 on Acceleration. you can cahnge it to atom bomb effect or any other kind of effect. It's cool to drop bombs and stuff from a B-52..but thats a whole other story...

I think that another way to do your #2 is in the mission page click on a mission and at the bottom of the page there is a little box that says "allow mission changes" or something like that. if you check the box you can then in the mission change anything you want after the mission starts. but no rewards are given if you do it that way.
