    I'm glad I didn't see Final Destination 5.

  • laser eye surgery is EVIL! I had laser eye surgery and my eyeballs fell out and melted into the carpet, so I couldnt see where to hoover up the eyeballs so when I got the hoover out I fell over and the vacuum cleaner tube went up my arsehole and sucked all of my guts out and I died! LASER EYE SURGERY IS EVIL! You should have gone to Specsavers to spend £80 a month on new contact lenses!

  • Doesn't it hurt because your eye can't blink fully?

  • How did that knife thing feel

  • dear lord, i'm sticking with contacts. omg.

  • @BeitelGeuse enjoy being a slave to contacts and glasses and a cash cow for specsavers for the rest of your life just because you feel squeamish about a 20 second painless operation. This was the best thing to ever happen to me.

  • LASEK SURGERY for $25. CNN Business Anchor, Joya Dass, directs inspirational documentary on Blindness in India. (bit.ly/FirstSightTheDocumentary)

  • @EnviroSMW trololol

  • Why doesn't the doctor put your own flap back on the eye, and puts a synthetic one instead?

Won't that stuff come off really easy? what's the difference from having contact lenses then? I mean, besides losing your original eye flap forever...

  • @JohnyK07 The contact lense is removed 5-7 days after surgery when the cells grow back I believe..

  • btw don't let the video frighten you, its completely painless, well except the fucking eye drops, but that might be a personal thing....

  • How long does it last for? like, your "new vision"

  • so lasek it's much better than lasik?

  • no blade?? ten wat is tat blade i see in tat video?

  • I did it on Thursday, 4 days ago

Didnt hurt at all, no pain, a lot of eyedrops

The first 2 days it was really hard to keep my eyes open, it feels like you are being blinded by everything, even the computer screen was too bright for me to look into.

Now its all normal :), and everyday im seeing a little bit better

  • I had this done yesterday, the pain was bad for a few hours afterwards but no pain at the moment, I was given pain killers and antibiotic eye drops, also sleeping tablets. The operation itself was painless and quick. A very strange experience but not uncomfortable and worth it.

  • ugh i really wish it was possible to do this when unconscious :( i haaaaaate getting my eyes touched :X

  • i did this 2 weeks ago, after i came home had 4 hours unbelievable pain in my eyes, but now its all ok :)

  • @f3hy Any halos?

  • no way am i having my eyes done now after watching this on TV today . i hate my eyes touched .

  • omfg this looks crazy

  • Getting this done in about 2 weeks. Hmm...

  • SEXY...w8 what?????

  • Are awake???

  • at 350 it looks like hees pooking his finger in her eye xD

  • at 3:35 looked like a they were turning him/her into a Zombie

  • @darkarm3rocks

Just had this done, the put a painkiller on your eye beforehand, you don't feel shit. And some relaxers on top of that and you don't give shit either. But the days after.. holy crap that was unpleasant!

  • @Ripperbat do those clamps to hold your eye open hurt>

  • @jnyfried

No, you get so much painkillers dropped into your eyes that you won' feel shit, or care for that matter ;)

  • @jnyfried nope, it feels strange for like 1-2 seconds, but then its gone

To me the whole surgery was painless, had it 4 days ago

  • @jnyfried

No, you have som much painkillers pored into your eyes you don't feel it at all. Here I am, a few months later and 20/20 vision =)

  • How comes he doesn't look away. I would look away from the pain and idea from someone cutting in my eye.

  • Why not contacts

  • Eye feel your pain

  • Are you awake during the procedure?

  • @s0ulsuviva Ya, u must be awake during the procedure. Reason being, that if you enter REM sleep during the sedation, your eyes will be moving rapidly. Basically saying, they'll be shootin lasers into your eye where you don't wanna be shot with lasers... lol

  • Comment removed

  • what about the pain???

    how long does it take?

    :) plzzz answer!!!!

do you see during the procedure????

  • i want this done but it looks horrible

  • Was this persone awake??? cuz ya know that looked REALLY painful.

  • IMPORTANT: You will see a lot of comments dismissing laser eye surgery, I suggest everyone disregards these - they are most likely vested interest-driven propaganda from opticians such as specsavers who make their money from people who wear glasses and contact lenses.

  • i had this done a few days ago on both eyes, took about 2 minutes, you spend longer in the waiting room. you dont feel a thing and now i can see crystal clearly, Who would have thought such life changing surgery could be done in less time than it takes to microwave a frozen meal?

  • @Willforbes296532 what surgery did you have?

  • @Willforbes296532 How do they charge? I'm near-sighted.

  • moi espoir

  • nice information

  • this makes me wanna blink like crazy!

  • why did the eye twitch like that it creeps the crap out of me

  • naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa man ke natonestam bebinam! i can't see tha!

  • Thanks for this.. wondered what exactly they had done to me yesterday!

  • isnt this the same as prk and witch one is the best?

  • I had this done... changed my life... i never felt a thing.. and I had EXTENSIVE work done.. i was under the lazer for 90 seconds instead of most people who are under it for 20 or less

  • i had this done to me 4 days ago! thank god i watched this after and not before because you don't feel a thing! You don't even notice the clamp holding your eyelids!

  • I just had my right eye done. It was painless and fAST. worst part is when they clean the eye with cold water afterwards. Cost me 2800 each eye with Dr. Mandel in the bay area. Even with -8.5 and astigmatism I was able to get Lasek. Takes 2 weeks or so for vision to come back with surface proceedures. I'm real glad I got it, I WITH I HAD DONE IT SOONER! You really don't feel a thing at all you just enjoy the light show. It's also very very easy to stay focused on the green light. A+

  • AAAHHHHH!!!! AAAAHHHH!!!!...... AAAAHHHHHHH!!!

  • Just got this done yesterday morning. The second I got up out of the chair I could tell the time on the clock which was about 5 metres away. I idn't even know there was a clock there beforehand lol.

The procedure was painless and you're really only aware of the liquid sensation in your eyes. My vision was quite bad (-7.50 per eye) so the laser was on for 47 seconds on each eye whereas the girl on after me was only on for 7 seconds per eye.

  • how long does all procedures take? and after how long will get recovered? im too scared to do

  • Reading the comments it looks like everyone is different.

I had my LASEK on 12th March 2010, and when I got the 'bandage' contact lens's fitted it made me feel so nauseous that I had to have them removed after 3 days (and I was a contact lens wear before my eye surgery) any way it was 1. 1/2 months before I got 20/20 now its even better after 4 months! No pain just slight discomfort, or maybe because I felt so sick I didn’t feel the pain!!! I don’t regret it, so go for it.

  • I'm having this done on wednesday.... can't believe I am going to let them man handle me like this!! eeeek!

  • Just had lasek done 4 days ago and I'm already @ 20/40 and getting better everyday. Like many have stated, the 1st day/nite is the roughest. It's like a constant burning sensation and your eyes will be extremely sensitive to any lights so you basically just need to sleep for a few hrs if possible. he drops they give do help as well. After the 1st day, the pain subsides and you start reaping the benefits of being able to see clearly without glasses/contacts.

  • Comment removed

  • it only hurts for like a few hours, during the surgery the most pain you feel is like someone is pushing on your eye with their thumb, all you feel is the pressure. and lasik now uses a laser to create the flap instead of a blade. your eyes feel normal by the next day

  • @rhebs109 with the lasek the pain lasts a hell of a lot longer..i was in agony for 2.5 days and it was unrelenting. yeah i agree the most discomfort during the surgery is the pressue they apply...not particularly pleasant

  • They're peeling back the cornea because it has refractive properties, meaning that light passing through will be bent. In order to ensure that the laser strikes precisely where they intend it to, they peel back the cornea.

  • BLAH! I want to have this! It looks awsome!

  • why do they peel back a slice of your eye? :p i wanna know what the first person who tried this was thinking! crazy people lol

  • Fuck this, I`m sticking with comfortable daily disposable contacts. I`ll wait at least until the technology improves even more, which I`m sure it will. The thought of a Lasek flap, hmm no thanks. What if your eye goes really dry and your eye lid sticks to the flap and loosens the flap, or something hits your eye hard. Nasty shit.

  • Lasik has the flap, lasek does not.

    Lasek is lasik improved.

The outer layer is cells that renew themself over 1-2 weeks. since lasek only damage this outer layer, you don't get the flap.

With lasik you damage the layer behind the outer layer when you make the flap with a knife :)

  • omfg.

    its brutal :S

  • i had LASEK with wavefront 3 days ago. its not so much painfull but very uncomfortable. you know whats going on but cant rally feel it. it knocked me a bit sick. had a cup of tea after it and sat down. my sight still blurry so hopefully it will be good soon. i didnt get any sleep last night as i was in so much pain. feels like something stuck in your eye. today has been better and im going back tomorrow to get the protective lense taken out.

  • where u awake

  • yeah.

  • I couldn't bear to watch this video through (ha ha ha). I had Lasek about 4 years ago. I am very happy with my vision. I do have problems with dry eyes, but so did I with contact lenses. I have halos at night while driving, but so did I with glasses and contacts. To be able to see 20/15 is absolutely amazing. It changed my life for the better! Just wanted to add something positive for those considering this procedure.

  • I am amazed that ANYONE would have this done. What if???? What if I slightly move my eye whilst the laser is firing? What if they set up the presription slightly wrong? What if my prescription changes a year or so down the line? Do not play with your eyslight folks!

  • @JimmySpangle - The laser constant tracks any movements your eye makes and compensates. Clever eh? For people in their early twenties, it might be 20 years before their prescriptions changes again.

  • @JimmySpangle the machine follows your eye movement...for some people the distress of glasses and contact lenses are more than enough to desire this procedure...I can understand where you're coming from though - watching this makes me cringe n rub my eyes in memory haha

  • @JimmySpangle also they test your eyesight over 2 years and test and test and test so extremely likely to get the script wrong but if it does happen they can laser you again.

  • omg im doing this tommorow and im so scared :s

  • OMG!!! :O

  • don't really understand how the laser fixes the problem... interesting though

  • The reason why you can't see straight is because your cornea is bumpy, not smooth. The laser evaporates the bumpy parts and smooths out that layer so you can see straight.

  • Laser tracks eye movements,,,if eye is not positioned correctly,,it wont allow laser to fire..simple

  • ughhhhhh omg,....

  • omg!!!

  • i cant believe im going to be having this done to me in 2 weeks ;(

  • chillercm: How'd it go?

  • @chillercm

    Be happy!

  • @chillercm How did it feel?

  • @chillercm how was it?

  • @ZDC09 painless, and i dont need glasses to write this:)

  • @chillercm How bad of vision did you have???

  • @chillercm

    How did it go?

  • @chillercm how did it go?? better sight? side effecfts?

  • @sabuomarrr1 It went very good, perfect sight and no side effects, except well the usual expected ones...but I would recommend you go to the best eye doctor you can find when you get this done. My dads secretary got hers done in England at some kind of a franchise. They didn't do all of the necessary tests, and cut into her pupil or something, now she can't drive at night and still has glasses. I had that pupil dilation test done and was told to wait 2-3 years before I get lasek(which I did)...

  • I almost frowed up. :(@@@@@@

  • ever feel like your being watched

  • Well i am not a good candidate for Lasik, but they told me i am perfect for either PRK or Lasek .. i have read number of researches for the three of them and know all the side effects of Lasik however the ones from PRK and Lasik seem to be unclear to me .. does anyone knows if there are as much failures with thoses as there are with Lasik?

    Thank you

  • No, but if you want to have laser eye surgery done, you should have wavefront laser guided accompanying your lasik or prk surgery. the new wavefront thing can dramatically decrease the chances of side affects almost eliminating any halos, sparks and improve night vision.

  • hey any eye surgeon here knows wats the highest diopter of myopia (with astigmatism) correctable by LASEk or PRK?

  • 12 but most places do it up to 8 or 9 because otherwise the percentage of side effects is higher

  • thanks but if i have wavefront laser accompanying, will that help?

  • Wait a min, Is there a difference between lasik and lasek eye surgery?

  • Hello, i'm 16 and i want to do this surgery when i get older, but until that... Can you tell me where u did your surgery and how much was it?

    Thanks, waiting for your asnw.

  • Why do they remove some layer of the cornea?

  • does any of that hurt?

do u feel anything or is it all numb?

  • It's all numb, I had my eyes done on Saturday past there

  • is it like..sore afterwords?

  • Na, ye might get very slight irritation or discomfort from the contact lenses (which are taken out 5 days afterwards) & your eyes might become sensitive to light but no pain. :)

  • oh:] thank youuu

  • @MooMooKTProductions I felt a strange icy cold, exposed feeling at the part where they peel back the cornea otherwise you dont feel anything...you're awake but on a relaxing pill and also eye anaesthetic...it did hurt for me the following week but after that no problems

  • does it burn your eye?

  • @cardinalsrockLA freezes with cool laser

  • Excellent video anyways. I will be getting this done very soon. I have mild nearsightedness from hereditary genes from my Fathers side. =[. I live in Michigan and I hope my insurance will cover some portion of this. None of these risks bother me anyways. The benefits far outweigh the risks, thats, for sure.

  • why do they push your eye in :S

  • Frankly I was sold when I found out there'd be no blade with LASEK, even if there was more pain than with LASIK. Not the best thing to make a judgment on, maybe, but the whole permanent flap thing freaked me out.

  • what is the permanent flap and i thought lasek is more invasive than lasik?? Just wondering because i am going to have lasek done next month, orignally booked 2 years ago alot has changed and i dont know to much

  • I had it done today, it doesnt hurt in the slightest, not one single bit. It may do tomorrow, but I feel no pain now and I am able to make food, type this etc (the procedure was done about 6 hours ago and I left about 5 minutes after). Vision is a little blurry but hopefully this will clear up in time.

  • hi paulockleford,

is your eyesight still blurry or has it cleared up now?

  • Hi, it seems a lot clearer now. I would say at the moment I have pretty good eye sight and I dont notice any problems when I am out and about.

Not noticed much in the way of night vision disturbance, just worse night vision generally but nothing too bad, some slight halos nothing major and not even mildly annoying right now.

I am hoping it will get even better, and I have an appointment at 5pm today so will maybe have some more information.

  • And now I'm never getting lasek surgery...

  • Ever had any go wrong? Mind did.. Was sorry I did it....

  • What happened?

  • My gf just got it done. I saw it and I thought she moved. Dude you must have been the worst patient he had to deal with. You didnt listen to anything the doc said.

  • At Park Avenue Laser /212-741-8628)they are having an amazing $1000 off program because of the recession. If you want good vision forever, now is a good time to contact them. I am getting this procedure done in Feb. and I cant wait!!! Oh and also they offer some financing through Carecredit- you can get no interest for up to 12 months or so. :)

  • I have read that LASEK & EPI-LASEK are actually SAFER than LASIK! Also many people who cannot have LASIK can have LASEK which is awesome for example anyone with a higher prescription, thinner corneas, large pupils or dry eyes and have been turned away can get this new SAFER procedure done.

  • EM (electron microscopy) pictures have been taken of the corneal surface after PRK vs. LASEK and epiLASEK , and the images are striking--you can see crushed cells all over the place after PRK, whereas there are no crushed or damaged cells, just a smooth interface on a microscopic level after LASEK and epiLASEK.

  • In summary, because of the clean epithelial separation on a microscopic level after LASEK and epiLASEK, you don't get cellular destruction like you do after PRK, so the healing is quicker; vision better and with no pain, as compared to PRK.

  • When I was doing PRKs in the 1990s, my patients were very uncomfortable and had to miss 1-2 weeks of work, which is why laser vision correction performed by PRK never became popular. These days, when I am performing LASEK and epiLASEK, patients only need to take 1-3 days off from work, and there is really no pain, so that's why these newer procedures are dominating the industry.

  • I'm sure as a 'Park Avenue' Lasek doctor you have seen successful surgeries. How many of your procedures went wrong and how many of your patients were unhappy with the results? I'm just curious with what your response will be.

  • There is a significant clinical benefit to LASEK and epiLASEK over PRK in terms of a marked improvement in post-op discomfort, rapid healing, better vision, and decreased chances of scarring.

  • Sweet

  • NICE EYEBALL

  • look mr your method is total bollox and does not work sorry for being rude but it is. I've watched all your videos and it does not work. I have impaired vision because it's a hereditary thing and no amount of eye excises is gonna work so sorry about you!

  • I want to get the best one which is Intralase but it's only for LASIK and it comes with Wavefront CustomVue. My surgeon told it's the safest to date but of course the most expensive.

  • i want to do this but i scares the hell out of me

  • y arent they screamin their heads off!

  • Great video but can you crop the first 2 mins off it?

  • I had LASEK in April. One of the best things I ever did. Was legally blind without my lenses before, now I see 20/25 or better. I was worried because they say recovery is worse than LASIK, but it wasn't bad at all. My Dr. was so thorough with the exams, I knew I was in good hands.

  • oh and by the way... no it does not hurt to have this done, there are no nerve endings in the outer portion of the eye, so there are no pain receptors. you feel pressure on the eye from the instruments which is annoying and your natural response is to close your eye and when you cant you want to look away but its important to keep your eye still... They numb your eye with lidocaine so that you cant feel anything. He cuts a flap in the scleria with a blade and the rest is done with lazer.

  • he is cutting the outer layer of the eye called the sclera and folding it over to create flap so they can remove the lens and inplant a false one. You are NOT asleep for this procedure it is done while you are awake and you eyes are held open with a speculum... You have to hold your eye still while the procedure is being done. You think its bad with the lazer? check out a video where they did it making incisions with a blade before they had the lazers..

  • looks like it hurts!

  • imma stick wit contacts

  • Wow - what is it he cuts off before the laser is applied? im curious

  • OMG

  • r u asleep during this surgery?

  • how much does this cost

  • i wann do lass in my eye.however it have risk

  • theres a risk?

  • what's the risk?

  • severe vision problems its rare but its a 10-5% chance i think. Like the problems are having problems seeing at night, worser vision, double vision, and starbursts (basically seeing lights but much much brighter because you have nothing to shield your eyes). Also you get other problems to like dry eyes and also you could become blind. So in my opinion i think if you really wanna risk it i guess go for it. But i wouldnt i mean like i would ride a airplane if i had a 10-5% chance of dying xP

  • I had this exact thing done in Jan 07. Went well and I'm happy with results.

  • I just had this done 2 months ago very pleased with the results the surgery was very easy and i'm just so happy to see without glasses =]

  • Had this done on last Saturday and am amazed with the results!! Was -5.00 on both eyes. Now I have crystal clear vision, better than I ever had with glasses or contacts. Was very painful from Saturday till Monday morning but well worth it!! You don't feel a thing during surgery due to the numbing drops, they never offered me any Valium though :)

  • HI!Thank u very much for your answer.I had it on tuesday morning. The surgery itself didn't hurt at all, but it did hurt a bit in the evening and on wensday.I tried to watch tv today and I can see it CLEARLY!!!!But eyesight is still blurry though.can't see well on short distance.

  • i have mine next week. Scared as hell! It's gonna be lasek as far as i know. Please somebody tell me if it's painful?!

  • Had lasek 3.5 years ago, fantastic vision since. I'm very happy. It hurts a bit, esp when the aneasthetic wears off, the next day though was painless.

  • Hmm i will never have eye surgery in my whole life. my eye sight is bad but never..!

  • the only thing that made me worried is that i have to be blind for 3 days :)

  • It is not painful at all. They give you numbing drops. You are given a Valium to help you relax. There is minor stinging after the procedure, as if you had been cutting onions.

  • every procedure labeled "lasek" is a prk....if i pay for a L.A.S.E.K. surgery and get a P.R.K. I'm gonna S.U.E.

  • It would be informative if we knew what the surgery is trying to correct for, and what the steps were, and the results, pros and cons.

    Good video tho.
