  • This has to be one of the best things I have ever seen

  • Smosh sent me here

  • Why do people think this is bad? I'd love to watch this guy! He's funny! What, you think deaf people have no sense of humor? No desire to know what everyone is dancing to? Turn off the sound and watch it again. Is it still as funny? No, but it's fun to watch!

  • lol

  • It's mime, friends... it's not actually sign language. That doesn't make it bad. It makes it hysterical. Everyone calm yourselves down and laugh a little.

  • This video really needs to come with a health warning. I think I hurt myself quite badly falling off my chair in laughter lol!! GENIUS!!!! This is just fantastic!

  • Check out: goo.gl\iQBA4 and win new Modern Warfare 3.

  • Air guitar chords where backwards.... Awesome video though!

  • I love that clip. Its so nice of Natalie to join in. One remark though: Guitar solo is actually vice versa.- if you go up the guitar neck the sound is lower. Anyway, very good clip.

  • So what all these people are saying that a game of charades is also making fun of deaf people? I admit this would be better if it actually used ASL.

  • did you ever think that its because Deaf people can not hear the song and just see some man acting stupid on stage with the Title "Deaf Karaoke" that maybe why they find it offensive!

  • have to say, great show, and Natalie - great sport :)

  • could be worse.. could put sub-titles...?

  • for those who hear you have no idea what it is like to be deaf and how growing up and all of the deaf were teased and made fun of and treated like they were idiots all because they couldn't hear I am sorry but if this was title karaoke for the black man I bet it wouldn't of even made it out on youtube without a lawsuit or 2 from the NAACP or some other ethinic group so how about you all back the hell off until you understand how it feels to be deaf and walk a mille in their shoes!!!!!!

  • @sosmon121 As it says in the description, it is titled "Deaf Karaoke" because that's what previous videos of the same title are called and it was referencing those. I think originally supposed to have "Mime" in the title instead of "Deaf" but people just went with that instead.

Also, they did say if you take offence, don't watch it. The video was meant for comedy, not to make fun. I don't mean to criticize you or anything, I'm just pointing out the things the uploader said in the description.

  • @sosmon121 err, it's taking the mickey out of the song. and that's how everyone else see's it. with the possible exception of yourself.

  • This is what is known as PARODY people! It is funny because anyone who has been around enough interpreters has seen translation done almost this poorly. It is not meant to be insulting to the deaf or the hearing, and if anything it might even prove the point that we need to be more aware of Sign and make ASL more accesible to people who want to learn the real language.

  • i love this too ..its great ..i have a deaf friend and she loves it as well...its funny

  • Comment removed

  • For the 50 (out of 805,000) people who are offended: the joke makes fun of (bad) Karaoke, not deafness or sign language.

  • Her nose is up. Like, perky.

  • You know what, if this wasn't called 'deaf karaoke' you wouldn't be hating this. You think this is insulting? Most people don't think like that and I'm pretty sure if it would have been insulting to deaf people they wouldn't have put the act on. I love and so do 1889 other people along with me. I think that speaks for itself

  • I don't think this is funny at all.

  • This is billed as Interperative Dance - he's been doing it for years. Nothing to do with deafness.

It's strangely reassuring to see that some people with hearing difficulties can be as big a bunch of arses as the rest of the youtube warriors. Wind your necks in and start enjoying life instead of sliding into the same old boring negativity - your own life will be all the better for it, as will that of those around you.

Oh, and Natalie Imbruglia is stunningly gorgeous!

  • Having been only a few feet away from them at the time I can confirm it is the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life; it was the best act that night by a mile. It is a piece of comic genius; visual comedy at its best. Humour does not depend upon vulgarity or biting satire as today’s society seems to believe. It is not mocking the deaf; it is just brilliant. Unfortunately, some people like to be offended; it makes them feel superior.

  • Sorry, accidently hit "go"...who thought they could sign and made up signs. This is an exaggeration of that. You mean to tell ne you have never had a hearing person use gestures to communicate with you and that you have never thought some of those gestures were funny?? BTW this was sent to me by a deaf friend on facebook as well as by deaf teacher friends at work. Clearly THEY understand the humor, too bad you don't.

  • @thegspshow I am no ashamed because I and most of my deaf and H.H friends have met some wannabe interpreters who

  • I'd still do her...

  • Just to clear things up....He is pretending to be an interpreter that is interpreting the song for an audience...he's not pretending to be deaf...This is not sign language..but it is funny AND if he ever did learn ASL he'd be great at it!

I am an interpeter and I know many deaf that have sent this around because they thought it was hilarious.....As I said..he's not mocking the deaf he's having fun with interpreters!

  • @LaurieE2012 I am deaf this is not funny, I'm surprise that you are interpreter you think it funny well it is not, You should be ashamed yourself

  • @thegapshow if you don't think this is funny then you have no sense of humor. this guy is great.

  • LMAO That was terrific. And it's pretty obvious he's not really deaf and some people need to develop a sense of humour.

  • He has a special air guitar, where the high notes are fretted nearest to the head, and the low notes down towards the bridge.

  • @MercifulZeus sweet mericiful zeus, are all air guitars not special?

  • @MercifulZeus Since when do air guitar have fret's and stuff? I thought that is something real guitars have. I think the key word here would be "air".

    Great performance though.

  • this is such an awesome vid!!!!!!!

  • genius

  • I am a Sign Language Major and my friends and I watched this with one of our Professors and we all had a good laugh.

  • watch "Clown Movies" By Raul Franco

  • haha :D

  • I really love this movie and the music. Brazil is as I am, I'm watching this Deaf Karaoke Live - The Ultimate Version. Pounds of deaf too perfect. I really like, give a congratulations. Kiss ;*

  • Always makes me laugh........greatness

  • Epic win :D

  • ...He's not really deaf people. he's a comedian. And there's nothing wrong with this. it's not making fun of deaf people in a horrible or insensitive way, it's just for fun. so shut up with the 'he's a horrible person crap'. and on that note, i love this so much. it's just so damn entertaining :D

  • @KurayamiSuna total agree im profoundly deaf he makes it fun for hearin and deaf few others of him n bengee142 who does it for real love this 1 bigtime

  • @KurayamiSuna he like inslut deaf culture I guess it

  • is he really deaf?

  • @RubixTV ....

  • @RubixTV no he's just a comedian and actor

  • roflsaurus rex

  • That is superb LOL

  • Haha, that was amazing!! I loved the "This is how I feel" bit and the guitar bit near the end :L totally cheered me up :D thanks

  • haha That was absolutely awesome.

  • The counselor on a deaf community Deafornot dot c om said that "People who may be defined as clinically deaf (unable to hear spoken language) may or may not be members of the Deaf community."

  • I have this in favorites and just need to come back to it every few months for a good laugh !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My Dad showed me this. Love it

  • although you are correct about the guitar bein rong, i do think that it has been so to literally say to the hearin impaired that the note of the guitar is going higher not lower, if you think about if you never saw a guitar be played just herd it and tried to mimic the sound your hand would naturally go higher for the higher notes. this is just what i think, not fact

  • Still brilliant every time I watch it!

  • Woooohoooo

  • this is so funny, I love it :D

  • Really is you think about it if she offended or thought he was being offensive i doubt she would have gone alone with it. My and i laughed our asses off

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • It's even more hilarious if you know sign language and see the literal interpretation of the song.

  • It's even more hilarious if you know sign language and see the literal interpretation of the song.

  • love this

  • I never get tired of watching this one!!

  • great

  • Lmao, this was so funny and good.It just comes to show that you should take full advantage of the ears you have :D

  • Awesome...

  • THAT WAS HILARIOUS!!! and even more cool points for when the two were perfectly in sync with the moves.. ahaha

  • The best ever!!!

  • thts funny! but im pretty sure she was going to rip him into peices!

  • makes me happy every time i look for it. :)

  • deaf talk i like song good nice!

  • is he really deaf.?

  • @sergio071395 Of course not. If he was deaf, he wouldn't be able to hear the song and know when to que in the signs.

  • I have been watching this prolly 2 or 3 times a month since it was first posted, and that was over 3 years ago... LOVE IT!!!!

  • great performance

combination of 2 very good but very different acts

  • those 45 people who voted this down have no soul.

  • I LOVE IT!! i Love Natalie!! hahah i love the guy's expression.

  • Good that she can take the piss out of herself.

  • I heard this on the radio the other day and started doing what signs I could remember...it made me laugh :D

  • I saw the start of this in school this morning and just had to watch the rest, I love sign language and wish I could do it as one of my older brother, my mother and father learnt as my brother had speaking diffuties til he was 6

  • 3:15 is the best part xD I laughed so much at it, only thing is the guitar part was reversed from how it is actually done

  • Hi

loved this vid, i was brought up by deaf parents and im a pro singer on the circuit for the last 15 years and this was brill. I did laugh the mime and expression was spot on, i never reply to anything on youtube but i think this is a great addition to commedy and body language and a reminder of what a great language sign is brill thanks

  • ASL Deaf, and I think it's hysterical!!!!! Saw this before was on YouTube and laughed a ton and sent it around. Cracked me up how many non-signers thoughtit was true Sign, ASL or English, couldn't figure out why we laughed. Now, with Natalie with it, even funnier! LOVE it. Cracks me up that

  • this shows Natalie is a good sport

  • AMAZING!! i laughed soo hard at this!

  • IF YOU MY FIANCE EVER SENDS A THING LIKE THIS AGAIN........ I WILL TAKE YOUR "toys" away.............. and batteries!!!!

  • Fab. u. lous.

  • Lol! I think I just dislocated by jaw from laughing.

  • Amazing!!!

  • Sooooooo amazing and funny!!!

  • I think it's pretty great that natalie got involved with it too.

  • Brilliant!

  • Talk about great fun top clip

  • I AM deaf, and I think this is the funniest video I have seen for ages. Deaf or not, who could possibly be offended by this? As has been said above the 'signs' are based on puns and not BSL etc.

  • i remember watching this one on tv few years back when it aired and i still think it is absolutely brilliant

  • How can anyone be offended by something this awesome?

  • Guy's A Legend :) I Love It

  • awesome

  • This man is awesome. See "Don't look back in anger" too... But... English is not my first language, so... there are several movements I just don't get, like the one for "torn" (yeah, the title, it's not a chance, haha). Can you explain it to me, please? Thx a lot.

  • He's tearing a piece of paper. Torn being the past tense of tear. :)

  • Oooooooooooooh... thQ man! now I get it all!

  • hmm, i'm reading some of the comments... i'm not deaf but i think that if i was, i wouldnt be offended since i'm a teenager XD

i can understand people may be offended by it though but also, it is meant for the hearing who also sign.

    but i adore this video!

  • i had never heard of "deaf karaoke" before viewing this video...pretty funny and entertaining but they should consider calling it something else...even if its purpose was never to poke fun at the deaf and hard of hearing. i really doubt they are laughing.

  • That Natalie is very beautiful

  • I love this song...This is not American Sign Language, it is comedy putting body movement to words. It is not intended to be ASL. It is a mime's interpretation. The song is beautiful and if you are deaf looking at this, have a friend interpret it for you; then you will see the beauty of her words. The mime makes it funny for hearing folks and that kind of deflates the emphasis and meaning. I don't think this is intended to slam the Deaf community. You can see my art on here.

    dm/art(david)

  • lol.. I love his expressions for "wide awake" and "holy lie"... haha

  • should it be mute kareoke? not deaf..

  • @shadowindadark Mute is when people cannot TALK, so yes, it should be deaf and not mute.

  • This is great, altho yeah its more of a mime but it is awesome when natalie joins in on the mime... i love it when people can laugh at themselves. that is what comedy is about

  • I wish they had just focused on him close up...the black and white version is much better, although rougher, because you can see all the detail...but its too short, compared to this one...need one that is full length closeup

awesome genius dude...been laughing my arse off at this for 5 years...never get tired of it

  • LOVE IT

  • I remember seeing another version of this. This is great. :)

  • i love the video... my fave part is when she starts to sign with him! ^.^

  • yea that's to funny!!!

  • LOL I'm really hoping people don't think this is real sign language as they appear to!

  • Totally brilliant

  • it's so funny ! (:

  • It's a really good album too, I was very surprised at how good it was. He's awesome too! but not for deaf people apparently if comments on other posts of different versions of this are anything to go by? I can only deduce that some deaf people don't have a sense of humour either.....opps.

  • @CaptainScarlet1961 - I'm not deaf, although I probably will be if i live long enough. But I realised quite young that if you are, or feel that you are, the punchline of a joke, laughing may not be your first reaction. And a lot of the humour here is based on puns which rely on a knowledge of spoken and written English - they don't necessarily translate into BSL, ASL or Auslan, the 3 sign languages most widely used on youtube.

So what's left for much of the Deaf community is Deaf=Funny.

    h.

  • there are widely used sign languages on youtube?

  • I totally love this song!

And this is such a funny parody of both

sign language and the song, mahaaa!

    Great guys.

  • That was amazing.. always nice to see that a singer such as Natalie Imbruglia support and get involed with someone who makes there song extra specail, instead of taking offence to it!

  • lol that was awesome

  • This guy looks a lot like Eddy from "How not to live your life" ...

  • Lol, neither of them know anything about guitars

  • absolutely perfect!!!the title of the song???

  • Torn

  • YEAH!!! GREAT!

  • Awesome, that guy is a great mimer

    5*

  • that guy deserves a holiday

  • emotive - by the way .) love to watch it.

  • Great!!!!

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great!!

  • I love his "wide awake" pose

  • haha he did the slide backwards

  • Outrageously funny video! I have to handed it to Natalie for being such a good sport. By the way, how old is this song? Didn't it come out about 10 years ago or something?

  • "Torn" (1995) is a song by the band Ednaswap. In 1997, Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia covered the song for her debut album Left of the Middle. -Wikipedia

  • Natalie deserves a lot of credit for going along with the gag. She is great

  • Hilarious. Sharing with everybody.

  • I am always laughing when I see this video! :D

  • lol funny

  • Two Fuggin Thumbs Up! This is AWESOME!

  • I say we campaign to get him on the bbc to sign the news!

  • That's definately the best version I've seen of Karaoke for the Deaf. This was on Secret Policeman's Ball (UK) what a great show this is.

  • i like Natalie... and offcourse that guy...haha lol!

  • Doesn't matter how many times I view this. Her doing the skit with him says more about her than all her singing.

  • loved this full version with Natalie joining him fully in the last minute, the sound is a bit off but she is definately not 'miming' the words lol

  • he was doin the guitar the wrong way lol

  • or ya know maybe the sound is off with the video. Which explains the guitar and singing.

  • It did used to play in sync - dunno what's changed.

The guitar is done the wrong way though - not sure if it was part of the joke or something.
