Its a fine art, just one problem. Mammoth ivory is the name also given to illegally poached elephant ivory. Nice little loophole there. The only real Mammoth comes from Russia and there is so much Elephant ivory out there ,I seriously doubt it is at all Mammoth, considering all poached Rhinocerous horn ends up in China, one can easily presume so does most Elephant ivory. So, not only do Chinese get a higher price for the Netsuke by calling it Mammoth but legally flog off poached ivory. Say no!

So? They all border Russia. Why is it then , when I go on Ebay every Ivory piece is cheap and advertised as Mammoth Surely something so ancient would cost a fortune.
