OK for every incorrect statement in the comments, here goes. The meat is mincrowaved along with any cheese or bacon to make sure it's up to temp and the cheese is melted. The meat is flame broiled at 670F degrees and held up at 220F, plenty hot enough to prevent bacterial growth. The use of gloves is ridiculous, especially when the policy forces you to wash your hands often enough and use sanitizer. Unless your policy/health code is different, well that just sucks.

About the microwave...BK has always used them (even when I worked there as kid making Whoppers many years ago). The microwave is used to add a little final heat to the patty right before consumption and to help melt cheese (if ordered). They always flame broil all the patties but microwave it to bring it up to temp again right before going out since the refrigerated lettuce and tomato will make the sandwich cold in very short order. Nobody wants a cold sandwich!

Fact is, a well run broiler/steamer steamer setup is far quicker and much better quality than Phase 1 kitchens.
