im very sure people wanted to touch and hold and pet him but is he wasent abandoned and someone were to touch him his mother would leave him and he would die ..now if they had been tracking him as work and found he had be abandoned then they still wouldent be able to touch him till he was full grown

@karlene8089 b/c if you touch it then the baby will have some human scent on it and there's a chance that the mommy sea lion won't take it back b/c suddenly it doesn't smell like her baby before she left. it's kinda sad since they do look so cuddly but it's for the best :)

@giovannasos they are not allowed to touch or talk to this baby if it has lost its mother they should have called the local Marine Mammal Center people to look after it because the baby could become habituated to people and never return to the ocean

If you touch the baby, you'll get your scent on it, and if the mother came back it might not recognize your scent, which is covering up the pup's scent, and she could abandon him. You should NEVER touch a baby animal you find in the wild.

@hersheybar11 It was desperate for attention. Its mother had probably died a horrible, tragic death right in front of it, her limp body probably being huddled up close to as it desperately searched for the nurturing parent it had come to rely on.

It is a wild animal. It was probably only approaching the cameradouche because it was desperate for nourishment and care. She laughed in its face.
